I have been encouraging my group to explore more creative actions in 5e and they have really picked that gauntlet up. So in the spirit of supporting more creative combat particularly but also more obscure rules for the other pillars - what would be handy for quick reference?
So far I have:
Mark (free action). when hitting a creature ‘Mark’ them to then get a free reaction against it at advantage if the creature triggers one. Great for Sentinel feat and you can mark as many creatures as you like so it works well for multiple attacks and things like Polearm Master
Cleave. When a melee attack reduces an undamaged creature to 0 hit points, any excess damage from that attack might carry over to another creature nearby. The attacker targets another creature within reach and, if the original attack roll can hit it, applies any remaining damage to it. If that creature was undamaged and is likewise reduced to 0 hit points, repeat this process, carrying over the remaining damage until there are no valid targets, or until the damage carried over fails to reduce an undamaged creature to 0 hit points.
Falling onto a Creature. If a creature falls into the space of a second creature and neither of them is Tiny, the second creature must succeed on a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or be impacted by the falling creature, and any damage resulting from the fall is divided evenly between them.
