I'm about to homebrew an elven race for my own Gameworld and I'm looking for a little inspiration.
A little backstory, the world in question doesn't have drow, it used to have drow but a combination of this elven race and the frost giants drove them out of this worlds version of the under dark. ,
The elven race is predominantly evil, it developed as a race on the southern frigid continent, it has very good resistance to cold, tends to produce sorcerer's with an affinity to cold, and base their invasions of areas around portals to the elemental cold, this alters the local climate making it colder as they invade.
I'm looking for inspirations, for ideas of racial attributes which I could use for members of a race with that sort of description, .which would place an individual of that race on a similar power level with a drow of the same level. My initial thoughts are resistance to cold and vulnerability to fire, a racial ability based on the shocking grasp cantrip but cold damage 1/day, swap out most fire based evocation spells for cold variants so in stead of fireball you get cold ball, works exactly the same but does cold damage and freezes in stead of burns, they don't work metals due to fire vulnerability so their society is based around raiding to take what they need, from what they consider the lesser races, any suggestions appreciated

All plans turn into, run into the room waving a sword and see what happens from there, once the first die gets rolled
For building homebrew races - I really like the Race Creation Guideby James Musicus- which helps set up game balanced mechanics for playable races.
It's a "point buy" system, and not all races come out to exactly the same points, even with the default races. They have Drow listed in it, so it would give you an idea of how many points you have to play with if you want to make a Drow equivalent.
