I am a beginner GM who knows a little bit about the world of DnD (I play in two campaigns right now as a player).
I plan to create a long campaign for friends starting RPG.
I come to you because I am creating my universe, I am working on the maps right now and I wonder if my world is not too small for an lvl 1-20 xp progression while keeping a feeling of adventure.
First of all: Beautiful maps! Very well done. I think you should just try it out. A smaller world makes it easier for you to keep an overview and also great dense content. Write down all the things you improvise so you can come back to them.
The world might be very small for the time being, but thats also exciting! So much can happen here and everyone knows each other better. As soon as you feel your heroes have gone through most of stuff or lost interest, just extend! Maybe a huge underground dungeon, leading throw drow, durugar, mindflayers and beasts opens up to a whole new continent for the heroes to explore. A plane shift is also an option.
I think you're doing very much fine with these beautiful maps for the time being - and if need be you can always add content. The small world would be interesting to see being invaded by an outside force - and our heroes might need to unite the continent? After they win, they might set out on a great ship to find the source of this "evil" and could free the new continent from the evil that is spreading.
Many ideas, I think you shouldn't be afraid by any means. Go for it and see how it goes!
Hope that helps, also your english is absolutely fine :)
Thank you very much for your advice, I already know my plot and the politics of the different continents, I know that my players will have a lot to do on these lands.
I just don't want him to feel isolated in a small world. But you are right, if I feel them getting tired of it, I will circulate legends of underground cities or unexplored land that are out of reach for the common mortal who does not dare to brave the tumultuous oceans!
Considering the number of cities/towns and ruins you have, this should be plenty for a lvl 1-20 adventure. But if you do find yourself running out of room, you can reuse old locations (i.e. Armal's been taken over by new regime with much stricter laws). This can be pretty simply done by placing subtle hints towards a city's future the first time the group is there.
P.s. Those maps are BEAUTIFUL! What's the name of the software you used for that?
Don't be afraid to return to already visited places. Make sure to describe, how the place changed thanks to the actions of your party.
I remember playing a cleric of... I forgot the name of the diety, but she was a goddess of freedom but also uprisings. Her symbol was a red rose growing from bloody cobblestones. And during one visit to a small village, he gave a cute girl a pin with the symbol, as he lacked a rose. Just a sign of his appreciation of her beauty. This pin became the spark, that caused a huge rebellion which we only discovered 7 levels later. The same girl became a leader of a church.
There is a lot of little village who are not on the map, revisit certains place is an idea but I prefer that my player explore the oder continent ^^
I think it's a bit too unrealistic to have intrigues in every villages and the players will no longer be surprised! Thank you for your advice in any case, I will try to apply them at my best :)

Here is the link to the world map: https://ibb.co/h44R0f
And the continent: https://ibb.co/mVW0RL
To get an idea of the size, on the map of the continent it takes 3 weeks to reach Lorgol from Armal.
Thank you for your feedback and sorry for the bad English.

Thanks again!
Looks to me like some islands quite close to each other... Maybe there are Lands to explore via boat afterwards ;)

I believe maps are created with Inkarnate: https://inkarnate.com/
Yep it's Inkarnate Pro!
