I recently started an AFK SKT group, which is getting through Nightstone soon, and then onto the caves. From there of course, it'll be flying towards one of the cities in the second chapter.
Which city is the most fun/interesting of the three to send your party to? And why?
I was going to transition from LMoP to SKT and was planning on transitioning to Triboar since it's close to Phandelin, it had some ties to LMoP (minor), and because it felt the most natural for the progression of the story that I was forming the bones of. Coming from Nightstone won't have those ties specifically, so I would then ask if any of the PCs backgrounds would tie them more naturally to one over the others or perhaps against one.
Bryn Shander has a little bit of a dwarvish/GoT feel to it, plus it has Artus Cimber who made an appearance in Tomb of Annihilation. It sounds quite interesting to me with no other ties or concerns.
I also did Triboar as it was (central) and tied in to my Lost Mines start.
I changed a lot of NPCs etc, and changed the cloud tower encounter from act 1, to then occur well outside triboar (the players could see it and went to it) but then had it crash after being attacked by blueish gargoyles :) Then I had a note in the dead giant's hand which gave some small bit of exposition.
