I do enjoy evil campaigns, but they have been rarely done correctly with my experiences. Most players I've joined hear "evil party" and just take to impromptu killing/stealing, etc, turning into a huge time waste or "sandbox of being bad".
If there is an actual plot to the story, such as corrupting a <King | Wizard | etc > to further the agenda of an <illegitimate heir | nefarious organization | grasp at power > then certainly being 'evil' can be fun. As with the better 'hero' stories, it's still about being cunning and sharp to manipulate the events around you to progress the story in your favor, rather than hacking/slashing at everything that moves in the name of being an adventurer/evil.
Will stop rambling now. You get the idea. :D
