I am a new dm and I am running a campaign that is both role play and combat heavy. Most of the monsters my players will be encountering will be a massive variety of undead. That being said I was curious how infection works in 5e with being bitten with the following types of monsters-vampires, werewolves, and zombies. I want my players to not only deal with intense combat but also the moral ramifications of potentially becoming monsters themselves in their quest to safe their homeland. Would it change their alignment? Is it possible to let them retain control of their characters if infected without them becoming to over powered?
If they do become infected how long does transformation take, is their a cure?
