Hey, so I ran a one-shot campaign for my players who are now transitioning to an ongoing campaign LMOP. During the one-shot, they fought a demon, which after defeating, I described how it turned to ashes, then one of the players, a druid, collected some of the ashes under the character trait that she's a researcher so she wanted to, well research.
I was thinking, in the next campaign, as I want to have some interesting storylines for each player, this druid will have a sort of warlock Patron vibe to it. So long as she has the ashes of a demon on her person, she'll get strange dreams, visits from the spirit of the demon who will talk to her and grant her new abilities. I was thinking about starting with spells like Decompose (from CR) but, since she has started to use Wildshape, maybe a 1 in 20 or 100 chance on transformation (after a certain point in the story) turns into a dire form? I know she liked the bear, so if the dice rolled well, she'd turn into a Dire Bear, giving her better stats, however, to balance it all off, maybe there's also another chance that she'd lose control and attack the party? Rolling a d12 and depending on the number, depends on who she would attack?
I've spoken to the player and gave her vague ideas as to not spoil it, she seemed keen that possessing the demon ashes might cause some positive and negative affects to her character, as she's sort of a loner anyway, so it could be as simple as voices telling her things like "They didn't like you anyway... Why would they want to travel with you?"
As we're going through LMOP, I was going to try to work out a way where she could be cleansed from the demon, but losing some or all of the additional power, either by visiting a certain location or adding an NPC who would be able to assist her by retrieving certain items to conduct a ritual who would possibly get rid of the demon but let her keep the powers she has at that point. I don't want her to get overpowered, but at the same time, I want her to have a conflict on getting rid of these powers, where 9/10 it benefits her and the team, however that 1/10, she is a hazard
What kind of demonic powers could you give to a druid? Not just combat-related either. I'm happy to make homebrew spells so long as they fit in with the idea that a Druid getting corrupted by a demon.
Look up the Wildfire Druid in UA, I could very easily see that working with a demonic flair.
(Also I know it's a typo but I'm just so tickled at the 'Warlock Patreon' image I have of a warlock crowd funding their powers from hundreds of minor supernatural entities rather than one big patron, just generally acting like a YouTuber or a streamer)

Thanks and not gonna lie, when I re-read it I face palmed haha

I mean what monster is the demon? Then maybe I could help best when I know the specified abilities.
