Looking at the supplemental material we keep getting, seems a bit of a shame we don't get updated treasure tables for monster hoards.
Does anyone know if something like this is available anywhere or planned down the road ? Either DNDB or WOTC ? What are your thought of the this - how are you handling it at your table.
Since I haven't found anything myself, I started doing the legwork and to a minimum, to import all magical items in a spreadsheet, with the appropriate fields here and there, the goal being to put them on said tables at some point (core+supplements, no adventure items). Would you be interested in me sharing this here, if that is possible - of course, so everyone could contribute their thoughts on what is supposed to go where and why ?
current issues :
There are quite a few items, and some lists might go above d100 as new supplements get released, which is fine for digital play as you can roll d122 for example, not so good for table play I guess.
How do you split the items between tables ? First 4 DMG tables seem to hold consumables, last 4 permanent items, rarity spread accordingly - but sometime one item would jump table while having a different rarity than the bulk of that table.
Would you order the new items into these tables lower or higher ? Does it matter, or can you just add it at the end. Current sorting order seems to show that higher/closer to 100(roll) is better.
in regards to the one above - some items have something like rolls 0-10 Item A, 11 Item B, etc. That's my biggest concern I guess - I could easily fill the empty spots with the extra items, BUT is the Item A supposed to have a bigger chance of getting rolled, and am I screwing that up...
1d10k might be too much. There is a reason you roll on table A, B, etc. You can accidentally find a vorpal sword after defeating a pack of ogres at l3 and that is it.
I think separate tables based on CR is still the way to go, but explain a bit more, maybe I'm missing something.
Well for normal combat, like a pack of ogres I have a separate columns in my database
I built a MS Access database. Into it I put in the entire monster manual. Each monster I incorporated the treasure level. I use the database to create encounters. based on my party level.
When I generate the encounters it automatically determines treasure for each monster. I have the Treasure table name built in. So as to avoid a Vorpal sword in a goblin cave. However, after a boss fight (for lack of a better term) I will give a couple rolls off the master table. The highest end items there are only 2 out of 10000 numbers they can roll to randomly get.
I was working on a character generator when I came across this web site.

current issues :
I created a database 1003 treasure items, not including money. I use a 1d10,000 roll
I broke them into 17 categories. 17 being the most common and then determined a dice range for each category.
If there are new items I wanted to add I could do so and revalue the dice range.
