Running Rime and i created a homebrew "secret" for a character - " I am actually Blind and have been for years. One day a voice spoke to me in a language i could not understand and suddenly i could see myself through the eyes of an invisible creature that seemingly follows me around faithfully. I have no idea what it looks like, what it is or what it wants."
This creature has darkvision and moves at the same pace as the character. Does anyone have any fun ideas i could do with this? I was thinking of making it some sort of eldritch being or just a harmless creature that is just looking to help kind of like a Spectator(the beholder thing). idk if i'm going to make it combat based, but my plan is to try and hide it from the rest of the party for as long as i can. Any fun thoughts or ideas?
We're playing on Roll20 and i have made a transparent Token that only the player and I as the DM can see from, everyone else just sees his token.
That's a really cool idea! Maybe the creature could move out to a set distance (maybe 60 ft) away from you and can see through it's eyes like that. It's incorporeal and can't attack/make checks, but can move through walls? I'd suggest talking to your dm about it, but that is a super neat idea!

Consider playing it by the Find Familiar rules on seeing through the eyes of the Fam. If you want to REALLY get into it, an Imp can willingly enter into a agreement with a char and provide enhanced abilities, and an Imp can easily stay invisible.
Lol i am the DM, and yeah i was thinking like an Imp/Nothic/Spectator. I was trying to think of a more defined reason this creature would stick around and what would it do if someone found out about it? Would it attempt to kill them? Tell them SHHHH? Would it stalk that person/**** with them etc etc etc

Well, let's see....
How about this? An Imp is a Fiend, of the Devil variety. They are always looking for souls to gather, to get upgraded to a better Devil. This voice comes out of nowhere to someone who has been blind all their lives and asks "what would give for the ability to see again?". And remember, Imp's have Devil's Sight, to 120 feet, which is way better than Darkvision. It gets really tricky with the mechanics, if you use the Familiar Rules, but an interesting challenge for both player and DM. And of course, players are going to figure something is off. They WILL sense the presence of any invisible Familiar, based on the rules with Invisible creatures. But an interesting situation, nonetheless.
Oh, yes i was 100% up for this challenge. Because technically he's "blind" but im still ruling that because he's not seeing from his "body" and his "eyes" is still somewhat discombobulating and he still suffers the Attack rolls have advantage on him, but he DOESN'T have disadvantage because he can see where he's swinging/shooting/spell flinging. And i don't think i'm going to use the familiar rules. This creature isn't suppose to help him all that much it's essentially a seeing eye dog that can do tricky stuff like move food closer to him or save him from tripping etc. I might have it help him in combat once he's bellow a certain HP threshold. I like your idea of an Imp, I have where it communicates VIA telepathy (this is for when a character gets the purple psionic stone thing that always has telepathy up). I love this idea a lot.
It may be that the being needs help with something that only the PC is suited to handle and is willing to continue this service in exchange for the PCs help.

idk they haven't told me there class/race yet. had them draw backgrounds/secret stuff first so they could write.
If you are playing a Warlock, Pact of the Chain is a nice fit for what you are getting at.

I like that idea a lot. This thing needs the characters help. I like that.
