Players are really wanting a primer of what to base their character creation off of and usually an adventure has a blurb that I can copy/paste to them that tells everything they need to know but all of those for Rime seem to have all sorts of spoilers about what Auril does and stuff about the Arcane Brotherhood. I would assume that the players shouldn't be privy to this information off the bat, right?
It’s okay for them to know that Auril exists and wants to bring endless winter, or that the Brotherhood wants to delve into the Caves of Hunger: that’s part of what gets people excited to play, and player knowledge is separate from character knowledge. That said, you can always refer them to some movies, books, or shows they might know that capture the “feel” of the adventure instead. At the Mountains of Madness, The Thing, and any Game of Thrones north of the Wall are all fair examples.
