My regular online game is on hiatus. I haven't played AL and was wondering how it is and how it is in the covid era. Our game uses Fantasy Grounds. Are AL games available to play online? If so what format. I am doing my own research but people on these forums are always helpful so I will be a bit lazy.
Depends a bit on which AL group you find. My local AL group started playing on discord, but that lost momentum sadly. You might be able to find an AL group in roll20 or fantasy grounds forums, or a discord server.
AL games can happen in any format as long as they follow the AL rules. Even games run at home can be AL. When Covid hit, a lot of the AL groups that normally met in public places like stores moved online (including my group). We've been playing with a mix of Roll20, Discord, and Webex. But you can play with whatever tools you like.
Season 9 rules are still being used for "Historic" content, though. Those documents are still available on dmsguild, primarily, though the Season 9 players' guide is here: https://media.wizards.com/2020/dnd/downloads/ALPGv92.pdf
You really need to get on discord if you want to find online AL games. AL used to have a FB page that was a great source for finding tons of games but they moved it to discord and the FB page is effectively dead. Also, you should consider joining www.warhorn.net as you will find a ton of games and online conventions there as well.

There are quite a few Discord channels out there. You can check the official D&D discord channel for example since that is the current information channel used by the AL Admins.

Thanks for the replies. I'll go over this and start looking for a game.

I'm pretty sure you meant www.warhorn.net
Great thanks.
A lot of activity is going on in Discord / Warhorn.
As it was once displayed at the old (not so old) DDAL website, I'll just put one of the largest ones here (and hope it's okay): http://discord.gg/dwb
DWB is even having an event coming on April. 👍
