During an active session, I never reveal what is behind the curtain or reveal what is written in the module pretty much based on what people have already said as I may have made adjustments or gone off-script.
Though if the session or game has ended I have a standing rule that I do not show what is behind the curtain for the game until six months to a year has gone by because you never know when something may come up or I want to resue a missed opportunity and add it to another adventure.
I ran Sunless Citadel from Tales of the Yawning Portal and there was one 'path' locked behind a locked door that the party needed a special key to open. It was not until the game was over and the party had left the Citadel did one of the players figured out where the key was located. He asked if he was correct to which I indicated there is no reason that you could not go back to the Citadel to test your theory in a side game. The player responded, "Oh, I'm doing that."
