Just curious and hadn't seen this mentioned. In Bazzoxan, much is said of groups attempting to explore Betrayers' Rise, obtaining rubbings of carvings, and even that Question's group is currently investigating. But at the same time, it says, "The characters can't pass through the double doors leading to area R2 unless they have the Jewel of Three Prayers."
So, how are other groups and adventurers entering, since nobody else would have the pendant? I don't see any other way in unless they want to rappel down into the chasm...
There is only one item described as coming from inside the Rise. The rubbings don't have to be recent, potentially from during or shortly after construction is also an option. Also, the previous owner/creator of the rubbings didn't pass along the information Question is looking for. A party could decide to descend into the chasm and confront the challenges that way.
Life is full of choices!

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.” - Mark Twain - Innocents Abroad
Times change. Perhaps the 'only way in is with the jewel' was caused by the last person to enter. Damn powerful magic users, messing it up for the rest of us.
This would be because the halls within the rise are always shifting. It different for every group that enters experiences a different area due to the chaotic magic of the Abyss
It's just odd that no other group needed the amulet to enter. That the random configuration requiring the amulet occurs when the group with the amulet shows up.
I explained it to my satisfaction. The presence of the amulet is required in order for there to be a configuration that includes the shrine to Avandra. They could have entered without it, but wouldn't have found what they needed.
Yeah I agree, they needed the amulet to find this particular route that leads to the prayer site, without it they would end up in a different random dungeon.

I guess that the previous party would have been Question's...
Okay, thanks. I was wondering if I had missed something.
