I was flipping through wondrous objects and found the figurines of wondrous power, and thinking the descriptions of the figurines sound a lot like the jade frog found in Klarg’s treasure from the first chapter. Have any of you DMs made the jade frog one of these figurines? What abilities would you allow your players to control with a giant frog? What would happen if it swallowed an enemy and transformed back into a figurine? Would you allow it to be used as a mount for its jump or swimming ability? I’m liking the idea but want to get some insight from other DMs.
I also had players pick it up, never do anything with it. Instead of it just being a shiny thing to sell, I was considering adding this homebrew item later in the game: https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/61586-jeweled-frog-of-chaos and make them related somehow. An item like this doesn't really grant any amazing new powers but whenever combat starts to run long this can help make it interesting again with some random effects. Maybe it can lead to a fun mystery, what are these frogs and where do they come from?
