Once again I turn to the wonderfully creative DMs forum. This summer while half my players are of on summer holiday I plan to host and DM a heist oneshot/two-shot for my remaining players and some other people. I have the time to make this a great thing, and I'd like to make something great.
I wondered if you had any experience with this, and would like to share. Highly inspired by, ocean 11 and 8, and Mission impossible.
I want to make, a blueprint of the place they rob, puzzles, traps, and lots of challenges. I'm pretty okay with arts and crafts. I want to make it difficult and deadly for them. They will be working as a team (or at least that's what I will aks them.) I might give them their own objectives, which would be cool.
I'm thinking lv5 party. Please any ideas, resources, experiences or creative thoughts you can share is highly appreciated!
I'm currently building an Eberron one shot where at the end the PCs are going to have to skydive off an airship they robbed onto another getaway airship going the opposite direction. I'm not sure how many of the PCs will survive but its right at the end so it should be funny.
If your players are bad at heists, consider having your Danny Ocean be an NPC who is putting together a team of specialists (your guys). Then they have a framework: someone who can assign them to go out and scout security measures, rather than putting the barbarian in charge and turning the whole thing into Reservoir Dogs instead.

The thought has occurred to me, so I might do that.
