So, I’ve been running a campaign and one of players got his hands on some demon Ichor (from decent into Avernus) and is constantly trying to use the flesh warping ability on creatures. Recently they tried it on a vampire, since it was undead I made the executive decision that it only works on living flesh. I am wondering if that rule is valid though. Would anyone happen to know? Thanks. UPDATE: Reading through decent to Avernus and saw that the flesh warping only occurs in Avernus.
"Descent into Avernus" states that fiends, oozes, plants and undead automatically succeed on the saving throw. So the vampire would be save, even in Avernus. :-)
Also it only works if you are in the Lower Planes like Avernus as stated in the description. So if you are in Avernus you can do that but not anywhere else.
