I think the point of the quest is that the PCs are rewarded by being celebrated by the townsfolk. The whole adventure assumes that the PCs want to do the quests for very little reward. The adventure assumes the PCs are good folks that want to help people.
But you should do what is best for your table (just as the designers always say about published adventures).
You could also just give them a feast where a messenger from Neverwinter starts the trilogy Beyond the Dragon of Icespire Peak with Storm Lord's Wrath, Sleeping Dragon's Wake and Divine Contention. This way the feast and memorable moments are the price for taking Cryovain down.

"Time, like hope, is an illusion" - Lumalee "Time is relative" - Albert Einstein "It's a joke. It's all a joke. Mother forgive me" - Edward 'The Comedian' Blake "Do I look like the kind of clown that can start a movement?" - Arthur Fleck
I will be running the cryovain encounter in two sessions. My group is 5 brand new players now at level 6. They have been given more loot than should have. I wanted them to feel the thrill of finding equipment and gold as they have worked through all the encounters in the book. I also added a couple extra encounters. Cryovain is a young adult and will challenge them. They will find several frozen trophies of other monsters in the lair - yetis for example. I figure roughly 5000 gp worth of various coins spread around the rooftop frozen under the ice. They will need to find a way to acquire it in the freezing winds.
Afterward, a large celebration in town will occur. Then a thief will steal their treasures and some of their equipment causing them to embark on the next campaign.
