Inspired by my Winter Eladrin frost mage I play in Rime of the Frostmaiden, I recently picked up homebrewing for DnD. First, I started with some custom spells for my character, and now I have created my first homebrew monster/creature: Araeglos, the Lich King of the North. He is an elven spellsword lich, who dwells in the ruins of a fallen snow-elven kingdom in the Far North. He once was the king of said elven empire, and beloved by his folk, but eventually something started corrupting him. While his folk has fled a long time ago, he remained - and eventually became what he is today, an undead shadow of his former glorious self, as cold and as eternal as the eternal ice.
I am now about to plan a campaign with him as (one of the) big bad(s) once I have finished my examns at university, and one of my ideas for why he actually got corrupted is that an Elder Evil was imprisoned deep beneath the eternal ice, long before the elves settled there. Something weakened the Elder Evil's prison, and as it sensed the presence of a powerful wizard, it started taking control of his will, hoping to eventually use that wizard to fully escape from its prison.
He basicially was an aequivalent to a bladesinger wizard before becoming a lich, and still follows his old spellsword style that incorporates quick movement, teleporting, taking advantage of his agility and nowadays his connection to the ice; hence the 30 in dexterity.
It might also be a bit of a personal thing, as I always prioritize dex over int when playing bladesinger wizards :)
I am thinking about switching int and dex; but I would keep the Ice Blade an actual weapon attack using dex. I named it simply “Ice Blade“, but I have an idea for a homebrew magic sword he could wield instead (and my Frostmaiden character is going to acquire a magical sword tied to his backstory soon too).

What do you think of that creature? :)
seems really cool. what is the deal with the dex 30 though? I would make all his attacks spell attacks, and switch his int score with his dex.
