Hi guys, Im currently running the module Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden, and we just got a new player! They ended up with a echo knight fighter with the blind fighting style, and my inner weeb decided that that blind sight they have in 10ft is Observation Haki from one piece.... but now I'm struggling to determine how to develop that and Armament Haki for the player.
Hard to say where to approach so that it would remain relevant to you and/or possibly to that player! Are you planning on developing it to this player directly, or in general?
Considering most of the fighting styles do cover certain aspects of the haki from One Piece, it could work as your basis. Interception fighting style could serve the foresight aspect of the haki and Defense fighting style could cater towards armament haki. The Monk's Ki-Empowered Strikes a very similar purpose, but will be trickier to offer for the Fighter. If your player sticks to the Echo Knight, it will be hard to reach these aspects for them, but for a future purpose, I don't see why custom subclass couldn't do the trick! Conqueror's haki would work similar to the Turn Undead channel divinity with tweaking, if that's what you're after! Add a CR limit to it the same way but change the targeted creature type and the effect it creates. From Fear to Dead scale to Restrain to Paralyze or Stun.
Oh gosh, I really feel like making a subclass now.
So my goal in games is to have each player feel special in their own way. So for this game only this specific player would be able to use to Haki (not to say they wont encounter a villain down the road who can use it to muhahaha).
That being said youve given be a ton to look at for inspiration and i deeply appreciate it!
