Hi! i am looking to turn one of my favorite charactors from an old game i had on xbox into a playable dnd charactor. a couple issues i am running in to are
1. How do i mix a vampire and a human in dnd 5e 2 How do i implemant his good / evil powers and how would i balance them? 3. I planned on just having a weapon that looks like the redeemer but fired arrows instead of bullets (asthetically magical but just a hand crossbow disguised) 4. The main issue im seeing is balancing his powers he has from the game into a race that makes him fairly balanced as a PC. Good but not broken.
The good and evil portion of the game is basically just choices you make whether to indulge yourself with the curse or fight it and you aqcuire differant powers based off of your choices. so i figured that would be easy enough have a good / evil points scale based off my own choices in game. (per dm's disgression) and when its in the positives i can gain good powers and as i approach negatives ill gain evil powers and vice versa. (of course losing and gaining the powers as i approach them and leave them. so i feel that will be easy enough to implement. However unlike regular vampires when jericho cross enters the day light he just is rendered mortal. so i feel that really takes away a lot of the downside of being a vampire. so im not sure how to balance that out. so im not all just upside without any downside ya know? He also has a Blood Shield power which is a passive affect (in game) that slowly regenerates over time and absorbs some damage he would take before he takes actual health points damage. He also has blood vision which essentially " In the form of the blood-red orb that blooms from Jericho's empty eye socket, it works as an infra-red vision and zooms in his view and highlights enemies, weapons, and other key elements." i was thinking possibly just letting him cast detect magic r something once per day but that doesnt really achieve what that is.
Some of his powers are far easier to add and balance than others. some will probably have to be completely altared to make them fair. I just want a usable pc thats Jericho Cross, but not so broken it maes the game unfun for other players.
