I was thinking the ghost could work as a companion, but only the PC being haunted could interact with it. Perhaps that is if the ghost agreed to help ( I imagine the DM taking the place of the ghost). Before I went too far I was curious if anyone had already done something like this? I appreciate your consideration for this post and apologize if it has been entered in the wrong section.
Tasha's Cauldron has guidelines for creating a "sidekick" that could work like this. However, the creature is supposed to be Challenge Rating 1/2 or lower. So a CR 4 ghost might be a bit too much. If, however, you use something like a Shadow (CR 1/2) that might work.
I appreciate your response and the sidekick rules are an interesting idea. I wouldn't expect it to be any major challenge rating depending upon the agreed storyline with DM. That does bring an even more appealing rp element to the idea though thank you.
