Was just asking if anybody had any good ways of implementing a feature in which I could allow my players to play with (my ported version of 3.5e to 5e) rules for EPIC from 3.5e.
For those who have played or are aware, the EPIC rules allowed your character to go up to level 30, and granted a plethora of boosts, such as continuing to increase your hitpoints per level, continuing to increase ability score, increasing saving throws, and a rule I would like to add, increase the ability score cap from 20 to 26 (Strength of 26 base is now possible).
With that being said, I'm currently trying to implement it as a feat, and running into multiple issues that I'm trying to work past. For example, I don't want to take up a feat, only to steal a feat from a player, so I want to make a feat that grants a feat (so if you had "Crusher" as a feat, you could swap out "Crusher" for "EPIC" as a feat, and re-add "Crusher" as a sub-feat, effectively not constraining the characters number of features). This is something I want to do not just to allow the EPIC rules to work, but also because at levels 24 and 28, I want to further increase the number of feats each player can have (so I want this feat to have up to 3 sub-feats).
There are also other issues, such as how you can expand your ability score above 20. Feats cannot increase above 20, but there is the category of "Other Modifier". Currently I'm thinking of just having each character manually add 6 to their character's "Other modifier" score, and then reduce their actual score by 6, so that their value stays the same, but as they get other increases to their ability score (they get 1 free ability score at levels 24/28/30 from this feat) they can choose to allocate it normally, but their new maximum is 26.
Basically, I've created a couple things here and there to try and work with DnDBeyond, but with creating these rules as a feat, it's a bit difficult to come up with, and even implement these changes correctly, in such a way where I won't have to create a couple dozen "versions" of the EPIC feat, and I'm not even sure I can fully implement it to begin with.
Anybody have any ideas/suggestions/guides/videos to watch to try and get this to work?
I'd recommend posting this in the homebrew section. It's pretty much getting into the guts of how homebrew works on DDB, they'll be much more likely to be able to help you.

Gotcha, will do!
