I've always want to try and blend my two favorite classes of Monk and Warlock. I've also, prior to Way of Mercy, thought the base Monk classes were kind of weak and boring compared to other classes. So I created a subclass for Monk that makes them function as a half-pact caster. Matt Mercer's Profane Soul subclass for the Bloodhunter was an inspiration. Originally I was going to allow you to pick a patron and maybe some Ki Point based Invocations, but then it just got a little messy and overly complicated. What I ended up doing was just leaning toward Eldritch Knight and the Hex Blade subclasses.
Thematically, the idea is this is a monk that has their meditations invaded by a foreign presence and as they start listen to the invader they start to embrace it. It grants them powers. This is my Sith to the Jedi so to speak. Instead of embracing peace and tranquility, you embrace passion, violence, and action.
I'd love to get some feedback on it and hear what you guys thinks.
As far as functionality, I think it's mostly functional in DnDBeyond. One thing I've noticed is that DnD Beyond just think it's a Wisdom Half-Caster with spell learning and the Warlock Spell List (+ a few extra). I don't know how to actually make it use the Pact Magic Slots as it's describe and charted in the sub-class description. There may not even be way to do that right now. However, if you just want to play it in sessions, level it up, it still works. You just have to be mindful that it will look like you have way more slots than you should and they are spell level specific.
If anybody knows of a way to make this work, please let me know.
My question is why you hit your max spell slots (2) pretty early (level 6) and didn't bump it up to 3 spell slots at like 14th level? Also, what is the range for the thrown property. Normally that is specified. Besides that, it's pretty cool, and I like how the final ability escalates from whispers to a roar from within. Nice touch

Throwing would be 20/60 same as hand axes and daggers I believe. Pact spells are refreshed on a short rest and Warlock gets 4 at the max. 2 is what Profane Soul gets and it feels right to me. It's calculated as 1/3rd warlock level. That being said, you can take a few Warlock levels and get a 3rd slot and 5th level spells really easy. You just have to stick to non-damage, non-saving throw spells because the warlock selected spells are charisma based and not wisdom. Completely doable though and if you want to lean into spells more 15 monk / 5 Warlock works out nicely. I'd probably go 1-6 Monk 7-12 Warlock 13 - 20 Monk. You can't take the damage Invocations, but what you can do is take Lessons of the First Born and end up with Toughness and Savage Attacker. Maybe pick up Pact of Tome and grab some ritual spells as well. I think the subclass is fine on its own, really fun, but splashing a few Warlock levels is a very viable choice depending on how you want to play.
Edit - Oddly enough adding any warlock levels completely fixes the Pact Slots on the character sheet.
Hi DnD Beyond Community,

Here's my subclass -
