I've been Dming for a short bit and had a monster idea to homebrew but I labeled it as a CR 7 but not sure if it is accurate. I heard that people sometimes playtest homebrew creations. Is that something I should do? I kind of want to surprise my friends with the monster and what it does so I'm not sure if there is a program or something that evaluates the monster and lets you know if it is the correct CR. I also wanted to know if there were any tips for me with my first finished homebrew creation that I can apply to another monster and a ranger subclass I wanted to make.
