Had a simple idea for a new weapon, but also trying to think of how to add it as a possible weapon property. For the Dwarven waraxe, I was picturing a Axe blade on one side with a hammer on the other. The property would allow you to use your object interaction to change from Slashing to Bludgeoning. Similarly, I could see a spike/pick backing the axe blade and the property allowing you to use your object interaction to swap between Slashing and Piercing.
I can basically picture all the various combinations of two damage types pretty simply but expanding out the weapon selection seems complicated. It would nice to have maybe 3 properties. Bladed - a smith has added a sharp blade to a melee weapon. Character can use their object interaction to change their grip between the weapon's standard damage type and Slashing Spiked - a smith has added a sharp spike to a melee weapon. Character can use their object interaction to change their grip between the weapon's standard damage type and Piercing Blunted - a smith has added a bludgeoning surface (a hammer or basket hit or enlarge pommel) to a melee weapon. Character can use their object interaction to change their grip between the weapon's standard damage type and bludgeoning
Due to balance and durability, a weapon must be created with this additional weapon property and doing so doubles the cost of the weapon. Only one type of modification can be added to any individual weapon.
I did think about allowing this to be a modification to an existing weapon, but ran into the complication of someone trying to add it to a magic weapon, does the modification take on the magical properties? Does it require some special effort to modify a magic weapon? Can one even be modified? Also a possibility to make these as a sort of minor magic item that affixes to the weapon and fuses into it might be cool. Also had trouble with a nice name for the bludgeoning one. Blunted works, but something else is bouncing around my brain and won't fall out.
