Could I say that certain types of undead can receive healing? In this scenario the player race skeleton would be magically altered from the standard undead to be a much more functional creature, more like a warforged is a living thing than a construct. Most healing spells do not work on undead, so I'd need to have some stipulation to these bone lads that makes it possible to heal them.
Edit: The flavor would be a racial feature worded as follows.
Consumption. These rare skeletons are a dark mirror of truly living beings. Their rattling bodies contain still living souls that animate and repair the bones. These souls can receive healing magic and keep the body held together. This effect counts skeletons as humanoids, not undead, for the purposes of spells.
Yeah, that seems fair to me :) The only alternative would be to designate some other means of healing for them aside from traditional healing spells or potions. Like some constructs have as a rule that they can't be cured by magic, but can be repaired to recover HP. But to make it a player character that's not a huge pain in the butt to play, just letting them get healed by magic keeps the game moving forward.

And now you too can play with the amazing art and assets we use in Roll20 for our campaign at Hazel's Emporium
Or you could do a replacement none system to heal. Like you have to carry around a bone and maybe use a spell slot to replace the damaged one
