Lei-Tanapounces from a crouched position and hurls a ball of shimmering blue-white light at the gnome, but her aim is off and the globe smashes harmlessly against the far wall. The gnome cackles maniacally as the globe soars past her head.
Elfa lines up a shot and unleashes a bolt of eldritch energy towards the laughing gnome, but is also off target and scorches a line up the rock wall. The gnome’s laughter seems to increase as she declares “The shield even works against spells! I’m better than I thought! I don’t even remember INSTALLING a shield!”
Cackie’s athletic prowess belies his outwardly drunken persona, and he makes short work of darting straight up to the contraption and placing himself between two of the crossbows. After he demands an explanation from the laughing gnome, she screams back at him “This is a field test! Scientific advances always come at a cost, and if anyone dies then I guess I can put their name on a plaque on every tenth model off the line MWAHAHAHAH!”
Unconvinced by this (I assume), Cackie unleashes a couple of blows – the first is blocked as she puts a hand over her eye, but she fails to protect ol’ lefty and gets an ocular dosage of monk digit for her troubles.
Screaming in pain and leaning back in the chair, she grabs at a handle which lines up one of the crossbows on the advancing Thunderfist Attack: 18 Damage: 8
Just after the bolt leaves the crossbow, the raging barbarian arrives. He seems blinded by his own rage at this point and the axe slices the air above the dodging gnome.
Diplomatstays out of sight around the corner, cowering at the aggression and loud noises of combat.
(OOC: A Stealth check is only needed if you use your action to Hide - and you need to be in cover to try that)
Elfa rushes the gnome on the contraption, making herself the smallest possible target until she arrives at the target and fires her crossbow, point blank, into the inventor's head. Th ebolt bursts out the back of her skull and the gnome, with no time to even protest or utter a cool final line, slumps back in her seat.
The room falls silent, there is a single exit to the south.
Still fuming from being shot, Thunderfist picks up the lifeless corpse of the gnome and punts it across the room, spattering the whole room in blood, organs and shards of bones.
Thunderfist then storms off ahead of everyone to the south exit, with the intention of killing every gnome he came across
The room yields nothing of value; the bolts for the giant crossbows will not fit any weapon that you wield and the gnome’s pockets are empty – as is the gnome, after Thunderfist’s revenge outburst.
You head south and the corridor soon snakes right (west). Ignoring the exit opportunity at the next T-junction, you follow the path south and then east.
Here you find yourself at another junction; east towards a large chamber that seems to contain many beer barrels, or south towards an open area with a guard post looking over it.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Cackie sniffs the air a few times like a hound. His eyes shot wide open, nose still in the air, he runs to the east (of course) and checks the room for any traps (it's surely too good to be true) before reaching his ultimate prize.
Cackie does not notice any traps (OOC: used your Passive Perception as it's higher than your awful, awful roll)
This room contains twelve forty-gallon barrels set into three wide alcoves, four to each alcove. Each barrel is secured by a wooden brace and the barrels in the south alcove have been tapped with wooden spigots.
Cackie stops for a brief moment, a tear drop rolls down his cheek. He is truly in awe of the beauty before him. He says a quick prayer to Stella, the God of Fizzology, asking for these barrels to not be empty, then heads to the southern barrells. He holds his sippy cup beneath the tap and gives it a twist to find out what's inside.
Thunderfist barges last Cackie and begins smashing the kegs one by one, pummeling them with a barrage of punches and kicks attempting to leave only splintered remains.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As Thunderfist starts to smash through the barrels, purple mushroom wine floods the floor and paints it an interesting shade of mauve. The rest of the party enter the chamber, Lei-Tana's new skin tone complementing the floor perfectly.
As Thunderfist reaches the ninth barrel and winds up to attack, however, something unexpected happens. The barrel suddenly bursts apart into the form of a giant mouth and launches a long, sticky tongue at the marauding barbarian Attack: 14 Damage: 10
The sticky tongue lashes into Thunderfist (4hp damage) and sticks him fast, stopping him from moving (Thunderfist is now 'Grappled', he is also down to 3hp).
Mimic initiative 4
(Everyone roll initiative and declare actions please, we have another fight on our hands!)
Cackie was now on his knees, visibly trembling. This spilt wine may as well have been the blood of his family all over the floor. He begins to question his faith in Stella, and the meaning of life itself, but now wasn't the time. His mate WindyHand was in trouble.
Cackie greases up by rolling around in the wine, takes two steps back and begins to sprint. He then hurls himself to the floor in a plank position and slides head-first towards the mimic at ferocious pace. He reaches 88mph, leaving a trail of flames behind him and attempts to crash into the mimic.
Attack: 11 Damage: 6
Knowing the situation is dire, he calls back to his training at Pih Sed and summons the energy of Ki, to enable him to unleash a flurry of blows.
With his left hand he throws a karate chop to butt of the barrel Attack: 15 Damage: 7
And he repeats this action with his right hand Attack: 19 Damage: 6
There is 9 kegs worth of wine all over the floor and his friend is in trouble, Cackie means business.
The toothy barrel, tongue lashed around the burly barbarian, decides to take a bite out of him (with advantage for the grapple) Attack: 14 Damage: 4 piercing (halved for rage if hit) and 5 acid damage (in full, if hit)
Lei-Tana hurls a trio of magical darts towards the grappled fighters. The darts fly off in different directions at first, giving the impression of a failed attack, but then they arc in mid-air to curve around Thunderfist and home in on the mimic. All three strike, causing a total of 12 force damage.
Elfadraws on the eldritch power bestowed by her patron and shoots a powerful blast of arcane energy into the side of the mimic. Chunks of the barrel-looking flank slough away and the creature howls in pain (-13hp)
Thunderfist, remarkably still conscious (but down to 1hp), swings his axe at the mimic. Unfortunately, whether due to the slippery wine-drenched floor or the sticky appendage wrapped around him, he is unable to imbue his strike with either pace or accuracy, and his axe clangs into the stone floor ineffectually.
Cackie’s martial barrage is as rapid as it is deadly. All three blows land with power and leave dark bruises on the creature wherever they strike (-15hp)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Elfais unable to divine any intent from the creature other than aggression, however it appears to be pained it is movements and the team have clearly wounded it badly.
Enraged now at being cornered and taking so many hits, the creaturechews one more time on the barbarian: Attack: 23 Damage: 6 piercing (halved) and 5 acid damage.
The bite sinks deep into Thunderfist's shoulder and is too much for his already-battered body; the barbarian falls unconscious (roll 1d20 please for a death saving throw)
Initiative 16
Cackie performs a wall run in an attempt to avoid running head first in to a bolt.
Acrobatics check 21
It looks like the bolts aren't fired in diagonal directions, so he positions himself in between the north and the west facing bolts.
He then waves at the gnome, asks its name and why she hurt his best friend Thunderdude.
(If there is no way this gnome is friendly, then Cackie climbs on board, licks her right in the ear the to gross her out and then pokes her in the eye
Attack: 6 Damage: 4
And then again in the other eye...
Attack: 12 Damage: 4

15 Stealth Check.
Elfa sneaks past the crossbows and up to the Gnome, pulls out her crossbow and shoots her in the head.
Attack: 23 Damage: 6
"don't worry boy! this is the least of our worries" Elfa said to Diplomat. It broke her heart to see him quivering like that.
"Cackie, I had no idea how athletic you were!"

"Why was she so mean?"
Cackie searches the corpse for anything useful (Investigation check 7 ) and performs a continuous roly poly to the south.
"Nicely done Elfa!" Lei-Tana compliments her colleague, then does an investigation check before heading to the south exit...
