Almarath: The seasoned arcane researcher does his best to discern the nature and purpose of the magic he is witnessing. When he's completed his investigation, he'll share what he's learned with the party.
When ready, Almarath takes cover in a doorway down the hall, roughly 30ft from the enchanted passage. He says, "I lack the knowledge to dispel these dark magics. Perhaps best to trigger the spell from a distance? I would do the honors, but I never did quite master the magical dexterity necessary for Mage Hand."
The wizard surrounds himself in magical energy as he prepares himself for anything.
Kane takes a deep breath and puts his hands forth. His ring glows brightly. A spectral crimson hand with shackles on it comes forth. He guides it to the door and looks at Tylaerys one more time before the hand grabs the door and pulls it open.
Aster stands back, squinting at the door. The darkness around it is somewhat concerning, but they feel the familiar pull at their chest at the idea of unveiling some kind of secret. They watch quietly, preparing for anything that might come out of it.
Tylaerys smiles appreciatively at Quips efforts to support Kane. This is the kind of cooperation they will need in order to defeat the shadows of the Dark Weave she thinks to herself. She readies herself for whatever may come through that door, mentally reaching for the inner radiance gifted to her.
After more careful study of the magic moving inside the doorway, you feel power leeching at the surrounding. Frost appears everywhere the tendrils touch and they are seeking something. They are kept out of the doorway by something. ( You are sure that you are facing a necromantic spell or power )
When you approach, the tendrils move back at first and seem to be waiting for you to move further in. Like a snake luring its prey in.
Moving inside the doorway will probably trigger the spell lurking inside. The protection Freya as put is keeping the spell at bay but it also brought it to the door.
Chess is not sleeping and sees that the group is gathering to enter the doorway.
He chuckles. " Adventurers..." he seems to have expected something like that." You think you will succeed where groups of battle-hardened dwarves failed? I admire your audacity."He lifts a finger to stop any from answering.
" You do realize that we are leaving in the morning and that you should be keeping your strength. You have a contract with us and the clan." He mentions to the door, "The place will be here in a ten-day and you might want to talk to Freya's cousins and family about what to expect down there."
"But if you feel you need to go in there then please do. I'll just ask Freya to be ready for what you unleash."
Quip looks at the archway, then at Chess "Smart" she turns to the group "Wait" she pulls out what looks like a Present Reckoning calendar and jots down a note. "Sleep now. Return later" she says as she begins to curl back into her knapsack
Tylaerys at first feels a sting of disappointment over being intrerrupted in their investigations but as she listens to the advice from the dwarf she reconsiders. "Yes, that would be the prudent course of action, I agree, we should rest and prepare for this before venturing forth. Apologies for waking you all up. I wish you all a good nights sleep." Tylaerys says seeming somewhat embarrased over trying to convince the others to investigate before being properly prepared. "Good night everyone" She says sending an unsecure smile at Kane as she lays down to sleep.
Kane sees that the adventure is being called off. The spectral hand dissipates in the air. He see that the others are going to rest. He nods toward the dwarf, taking heed of his advice. He then catches Tylaerys smile. He quietly walks over and pulls the cover over her more securely and then seems to be hesitant about something. Finally, he slowly leans forward and kisses her on the forehead. He quickly get to his pallet and lies down, blushing but smiling very happily.
After kissing her on the forehead Kane again notices that faint radiance about Tylaerys for a brief moment as she smiles warmly at him. "Good night Kane." She whispers and quickly turns over to not reveal herself blushing again. Before falling asleep she finds her thoughts on her holy mission constantly interrupted by the appearance of the kind and thoughtful tiefling. She finally falls asleep, a smile on her face, dreaming sweet dreams this time.
Almarath: Extinguishing his magical light as he steps forward, Almarath breathes a sign of relief and says, "Good, good... I was not relishing the idea of exploring this place without doing additional research beforehand."
Almarath attempts to recall any repositories of knowledge in the immediate area that might have more lore concerning this place. He also thinks through the long list of scholars and sages he is acquainted with that might live nearby.
Researcher:
When you attempt to learn or recall a piece of lore, if you do not know that information, you often know where and from whom you can obtain it. Usually, this information comes from a library, scriptorium, university, or a sage or other learned person or creature. Your DM might rule that the knowledge you seek is secreted away in an almost inaccessible place, or that it simply cannot be found. Unearthing the deepest secrets of the multiverse can require an adventure or even a whole campaign.
Allyn turns toward Kane and Tylaerys and the rest of the party as they move back away from the doorway “I guess the songs of the Guardians of the Weave will have to wait” He gives them a wry grin “Finding out more about what lies beyond is probably wise in any case” He turns back to his bedroll, thinking to himself: after all, there are plenty of songs about brave adventurers who meet a tragic end. It would do no good to be one of those. He settles in to get what sleep he may before the Dwarves continue their journey.
A dwarven loremaster or even the dwarven library of the clan Battlehammer should have lore on this place and what happened here. It might not be easy to access or easy to find clues in the tomes and books there.
In the morning - nothing happened during the night - Freya and Chess are packing while Mantle is cooking some hot stew. The smell of cinnamon and apple wakes the more hungry of you.
Mantle is happy to give you each a serving. " Get some strength. Crossing the mountain isn't an easy feat on the best days."
It takes about an hour to get ready to leave, packing and setting the dogs on each sled but finally, you are ready to go into the cold once more. Though you know that the sun has risen you can't see it in the sky because of the dark clouds. Visibility is dim at best.
Chess looks at you when you look up in the sky. " Two years that the Ice Dale hasn't seen the sun. Two long years for many a soul."
The path into and over the mountain is narrow at times, and rather than chance falling down the dwarves decide to walk through the hardest parts.
For all:
Atheltic check DC 12. Read if failed
The exertion is hard on your body and you start to stagger along, unused to the unrelenting and punishing weather. Con save 12 or suffer one level of exhaustion.
Of course a few well-placed and timed spells might turn the tide around.
If succeeded you manage to hold the pace and do not have any problems.
Tylaerys wakes up unexpectedly refreshed, relishing the dwarven stew while occasionally glancing over at Kane. She packs up her things and helps the dwarves out with anything she can. Unless other suggestions comes up she finds the same sled as yesterday looking for Kane to join her. As the path over the mountain narrows Tylaerys joins the dwarves walking. She frequently uses magic to keep herself and Kane warm (prestigitation) and puts on the snowshoes she picked up at the trader. Athletics:17 She manages surprisingly well to keep up with the sturdy and hardened dwarves and looks to help anyone of the others in the congregation who would seem to need it.
"How long to Bryn Shander?" She asks the dwarves as she trudges along through the snow.
(OOC: I don´t know if it helps but Tylaerys has another use of prestidigitation for warming that is up for grabs:-)
Allyn wakes with the group and enjoys a hearty breakfast, savoring the apple and cinnamon, two of his favorite flavors. “Thank you, Mantle. This is delicious.”
He assists the group loading the sleds and joins the dwarves walking along the rugged trail. He sings a marching cadence from time to time to try to keep the group's spirits up.
Athletics 11
Used to the city streets and maintained trails along the coast, Allyn has a hard time on the mountain trail. Never the strongest, he struggles to match the pace set by the dwarves.
Con 18
Pausing to catch his breath frequently, his marching cadences slowly stop to the great relief of some in the party. Although he is strained by the effort, he pushes on and stays with the group.
"Allyn, are you all right back there..." Tylaerys says over her shoulder trudging along in a steady pace. "...I think we will have crossed the worst part soon. Then you can rest on a sled, all right?" Trying to give the half-elf som encouraging and comforting words. Tylaerys does her best staying vigilant for any threats. Perception:8
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kane looks Ames up and enjoys his breakfast. He exchange glances with Tylaerys and blushes. Once out of the fort, he joins Tylaerys on the sled for the first part. Since she didn’t mind last time, Kane wraps an arm around her, keeping her close and warm. Once they have to walk, he helps her down and walks with her for comfort and heat. Athletics: 10
Despite Kane not being the fittest, he manages to trudge forward with strength, perhaps due to not want to disappoint Tylaerys or lag behind.

Kalec nods and steps back. "Ready when you are."
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
Kane takes a deep breath and puts his hands forth. His ring glows brightly. A spectral crimson hand with shackles on it comes forth. He guides it to the door and looks at Tylaerys one more time before the hand grabs the door and pulls it open.
Tylaerys eyes briefly meets Kanes and she smiles warmly as if saying "You can do this Kane, I believe in you."
Aster stands back, squinting at the door. The darkness around it is somewhat concerning, but they feel the familiar pull at their chest at the idea of unveiling some kind of secret. They watch quietly, preparing for anything that might come out of it.
I'm very gay, I'd like a few dollars
Quip taps out a quiet slow heartbeat of a rhythm on her hand drum trying to cut the tension, and help Kane focus.
