Nighthill nods to thank the group and resumes his seat at the head table after confirming that the party would be able to purchase additional items from the Quartermaster if they are in stock. Escobert the Red says, "Let me introduce you to Nesim, who's a monk who has been scouting the hoard and came here to warn us." He waves a young man over from the next table.
A young human male walks up to you, limping heavily on his bandaged left leg. He wears simple blue robes with some prayer beads wrapped around his left wrist. “I hear that you intend to follow the raiders and see where they’ve gone. I’d like nothing better than to come with you, but in this condition, I’d slow you down. In the midst of all this tragedy, there’s no reason you would have heard about the fate of my master, Leosin Erlanthar, but it’s important you know. He is a monk from Berdusk. He disappeared last night, after we fought a particularly savage battle against raiders. A few others and I fought our way to the keep, barely. Leosin didn’t make it at all. We went back this morning to look for him, but all we found was his broken staff and this choker, which he always wore.” He tries to stand up a little but slumps to an empty seat at the table. He continues, "Leosin has been investigating these raiders for months. I fear that he might have tried to infiltrate their group when they retreated, or worse, was captured and carried away as a prisoner. No one understands these bandits better than he does, and his knowledge will be invaluable against them. When you find their camp, please look for any sign that Leosin is there. One of my brothers has already departed for Berdusk to bring back help, but it will be many days before help arrives. Anything you can do before then would be a godsend."
@Kiari
Once we get there, the Quartermaster will let you know that one of the monks in Nesim's order should have some herbs as one was a healer. They will be wearing the same robes as Nesim and they were seen congregating in the keep's garden.
Kirari selects a cartography kit, a healing potion and fishing tackle. then heads to the garden mentioned to seek out the healer. if possible to negotiate something useful for the Professor.
"We will most certainly look for your Master and should be on our way immediately after gathering a couple supplies." She looks to the others for confirmation of this from them as well hoping to give the man some hope.

The monk raises his hands and then bows to thank Kiari for her offer of help. He shuffles back to his table on his good leg to have a seat.
@Kiari
Sounds good on the gear from the quartermaster, and you would find 2 monks in the garden. Seeing you approach, one wearing blue robes muck like the monk you just met, but in much better shape, asks, "We hear that you ware one of the Heroes of Greenest; what brings you to the keep's garden?"
(OCC: I am thinking the players are heading to the quartermaster's store to ask for additional items if they are needed, or that folks are going to pick a spot to set out on their covert mission)
“Hello Nesim, it looks like you were in quite the battle. What can you tell us about the raiders you fought? Here at the keep we were beset by kobolds and dragon cultists… as well as some mercenaries. There was also a dragon working with them. Did you see the same or something different in your battles?” He frowns and then adds “You say Leosin was looking into these raiders… did he say what he had found so far? We don’t know what they’re after or why… or why they walked away when we were forced to retreat to the keep.”
”Of course we will look for your master, can you describe him so that we might know him? Does your order have any secret signs or communications we could give in case he has infiltrated their group?
"Greetings," approaching the monk in the finer robes, giving an awkward gesture of respect unsure of local custom for the monks, "I am Kirari, Cleric for the group and I have a humble request. I was told that you might be the one to talk to. One of our companions is an older gentlemen and complains of the aches that come with age. I was curious if you had some local remedies that may assist should our quest to seek out the raiders prove excessive for him? I don't have much, but can contribute a portion of silver for the medicine."

Nesim turns to the professor and replies, "Aye, those were the same monsters we saw: a terrible blue dragon, kobolds, cultists, and mercenaries made up mostly of humans. The monks I was traveling with were returning to Berdusk from the great library at Candlekeep, where Leosin was consulting the librarians and researching ancient writings on dragon folklore. Dragon cults are his special interest." Nesim trails off, perhaps thinking of better times. "Please, I urge you, please hurry to Leosin's aid!"
@Kiari
"Well met," says a monk who is clearly the eldest of the group. "Unfortunately, I know all about those aches and pains that come along with trying to keep up with these youngsters." He goes to the folds in his robe and pulls out a small vial. "I am happy to share this with you as a fellow walker of the path of light and right. It is willow bark extract and should be enough to help for at least 10 doses. I would be happy to part with it for 4 sp."
Cale finishes buckling his new armour in place and checks the fastenings on his kit. "Don't worry Nes, we'll find him - we'll be off in a bit. Is there anything useful you can tell us about dragon cults? Codewords, rituals, egregious social faux pas?"
Travis listens intently to the monk's description of what has happened. He stands quietly, ready to get his gear at the quartermaster as soon as practical and then head out on the road.
((Adding two healing potions and a longbow w/arrows to sheet.))
Kirari nods appreciatively and passes along the silver piece. "Thank you and for telling me what it is, in case it ever needs to purchased again. I will leave you to your work. Blessings to you."
She takes her leave after the discussion off on an errand and returns shortly within the hour. Catching up on any information missed and ready to leave when they are.

Kirari takes the professor aside when he's not occupied with the others and passes him a small vial. "This is Willow Bark Extract, good for three uses. Used to take the edge off of the aches and pains when we're on the road. The monks here in the keep use, thought maybe.." then shrugs and returns back to other activities.
“Well now thank you Kirari! That’s very kind and thoughtful. I hope not to be a burden to you all but these old bones…”The professor takes the vial and looks at it before returning to thank the half-orc again but she has wandered off. He smiles to himself thinking about how thoughtful the gift was and how needed it is for his joints.
The professor listens to the Monk, eager to learn all he can about the enemy they face and knowing that foreknowledge goes a long way in a fight. “Excuse me Nesim, what did your master look like so that we might know him if we see him?”
Nesim turns to Cale and after a thoughtful pause says, "I know the cultists have a pretty strict hierarchy. There are initiates, then those who have passed the trials, leaders, and someone Leosin called 'the Wearer of the Purple'." He turns to the professor to say, "Leosin is of elven and human descent but keeps a neat beard with short black hair. I don't know if he would still have his robes..." Nesim points to his own tattered blue robes. He also hands Thaddeus what Leosin has left behind. "I don't know if these items are of any help, but they are all I have of my master...please, hurry!" The broken staff he hands to the professor is nothing special, but the choker is a braided leather neckband with a silver dragon design chased into the leather. The ends are ragged, as if it was roughly torn off.
Inglenook is a little late to the party, spending his time taking a longer than long rest. He also spends some time infusing his armour and crossbow with arcane properties, enhancing them for the next dangerous encounter. He had a feeling that there would be many more to come.
He walks in the door just as the description of Leosin is being given. "Are we off out again?" He looks around at the group. "How come you all have new stuff? Is there a quartermaster around? I'll go find him..." And the gnome wanders off again murmuring....
Kirari smiles at Inglenook as he comes, then goes again off for supplies. Catching up a little on the information as the conversation continues. "We should be off again as soon as possible. I'm all set to go and Inglenook should be back soon, the Quartermaster isn't too far." She says reassuring Nesim in some little way.
Thaddeus accepts the items offered by the monk. “We will return these to your master when we find him.” He places the items in his pouch as he asks “Did Leosin say anything about this wearer of purple?”
Nesim seems comforted by Kiari and turns to Thaddeus to say, "Just that you will recognize them by flowing robes of purple and that they seem to command kobold and human alike in the cult. I thank you all for helping me and my master."
The professor nods and reaches out to clasp Nesim’s hands. “We will do our best to find Leosin and bring him to safety. Stay here and recover. It may be that your skills will be needed in the days ahead.”
He then waits for everyone to move on to the quartermaster. Once there, he takes a set of studded leather, a healing potion, and an explorer’s pack. He quickly changes into the new armor and sells his old set for 5 gold. He then purchases some supplies for their journey.
"I stopped into the quartermaster a little earlier, but I'll join you as we're nearly ready to leave." Kirari responds looking at the others ready to leave.
Inglenook is already there when the others arrive. He's already stuffed some potions into his backpack and is brandishing a new greatclub. Swishing it around from side to side.
"He he, this is pretty neat!" And when he sees the others at the doorway, he puts on a serious face and rests the club on one shoulder. "So, we ready to go or no?"
