Clearly not knowing what could have left such carnage, Galingal continues on to the kobolds and starts looting everything he can carry back to the boat.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
In a precious moment of clarity, the old fellow who can't recall his own name knows that the trail and damage to the kobolds matches the description of a Lumaca flagello, otherwise known by its common name of 'flail snail', based on its appearance. He recalls an entry in a field guide he must have read at some point. It has no direct relation to the smaller, more mundane snails, but is instead an elemental that takes a form very similar to them. They have a limbless body that can be retracted into a shiny, irridescent shell, and instead of the pair of eyestalks that one might expect on a snail, they have a cluster of spiked tentacles they can use to defend themselves, and don't seem to possess eyes, though they must have some form of vision, in addition to being sensitive to vibrations passed through the ground to their body. They crawl about, eating inorganic minerals and materials from the surface, but are not predators. Their trail, which was what caught F.O.G.'s attention in Stena's description, hardens into a slightly shimmering pane of glass, and can be valuable when harvested. The flail snail's shell itself is very valuable, though large and bulky to transport, but to the right arcane practitioner, can be a crafting component for assorted... somethings... it's worth a lot, anyway. From the description of the trail being ten feet across, he judges this to be an adult snail.
What F.O.G. recalls it looking like from the field guide:
((Gal and any others looting, give me an Investigation check? Jimjar: 21))

Fog yells "Eureka!" loud enough to warn every potential enemy within a ten mile radius.
While probably a bit overeager, glad that his headache has cleared up with a moment of clarity, he explains what he believes Stena found is the flail snail, before dictating a speech that sounds like it's directly pulled out of an encyclopedia, even going a bit too detailed before he snaps out of it.
"Very valuable, but I believe a bit too dangerous. The trail it leaves behind is worth grabbing at least if we have the time, I think."
Galingal doesn’t bother trying to out do Jimjar in looting the kobold band. The deep gnome appears to be a natural.
Once they have gathered all the gear and brought it back closer to the boat, Galingal does open the flasks and baskets and pots and leather bag to see what’s inside, carefully with the ones with holes in the top n vase something tries to escape.
((Wicker basket first, then the large flasks, then small flasks, then buzzy bag, then clay pots without the holes, then finally the clay pot with the small holes, obviously stopping if there's something that needs to be dealt with first)).

As Galingal opens the basket, he's swarmed by dozens of small centipedes, crawling up his arms, and wriggling under his clothing as little pincers nip at his skin.

Still feeling tired and battered from their last encounter, the bites from these centipedes would have come close to bringing Galingal to his knees. While he wasn't able to avoid them crawling on to his arm, he was able to keep moving enough to prevent them from finding a way to bite through his leather armour.
Galingal quickly tries pushing them off with one hand, while trying to scrape them off with his rapier with the other.
((Someone hearing her description (just Gal?) could make a 'Knowledge' check to see if they have heard of what might have done that.))

Galingal listens carefully as Stena describes what she saw.
Knowledge (Arcana, History, Investigation, Nature all the same +1): 20
Regardless though, whether the description twigs anything in his mind he hops out of the boat to head towards the kobolds.
"They had equipment still?" Galingal asks, confirming what Stena said. "We take what can use."
As he moves off, he just waves a dismissive hand at the boat.
"Boat damage. Maybe sink. Maybe not. Jimjar thinks knows where we are."
Clearly not knowing what could have left such carnage, Galingal continues on to the kobolds and starts looting everything he can carry back to the boat.
Assuming F.O.G. overheard the description, there is a small possibility he will suddenly loudly blurt out what they are dealing with.

Jimjar bets Gal that he can find more and better loot than the elf, and scampers up the slope.

Stena looks disinterested in the explanation of the snail and frustrated about the boat.
"Fine. Where are we and where do we need to go Jimjar?"
Jimjar heads down the slope, a clay pot under each arm.
"Not sure, and not sure, but unless we turn back, only way forward is forward! I bet we're close though!"

"Get us to that city Jimjar, you can bet with the old man."
She ignores the looting and spends more of her time watching (for trouble).
Galingal helps transport the loot back to the boat, and notes that the leather bag emits the occasional faint buzzing sound.

"Aye would have expected that from one of the others, but not ye Galingal."
She doesn't move to help, unless her waves of disapproval can kill the centipedes.
