You climb higher to the second floor of the tower. As you reach the landing you find yourself in a large kitchen that takes up half the floor. There is a door to the left and the staircase winds it way up to another landing. The kitchen itself is filled with a dank scent in this well-used kitchen. Three tables stand in the room, one of which is covered in various vegetables and strange-looking cuts of meat. A wood stove burns brightly against the far wall, and a statue of a winged elf stands in the corner, its face carved into an open-mouthed smile.
Again the room is deathly quiet there are no sounds from above, below or the door.

Daventry points to the statue, noting for her friends to be ready. "Maybe a simple cover?"
She uses her mage hand to grab the largest kitchen towel in the room (if there is one, or whatever is most similar) and floats it over to cover the statue's face and eyes, while taking a position behind a table.
You all crouch and hide. It is a tense few seconds that pass and then a few minutes. You look at each other cowering in the kitchen. A mouse scurries across the floor, oblivious to the ambush you have planned for it.
Beyond the mouse... nothing happens.

If nothing happens right after dropping the towel on the Gargoyle, Daventry would move onward almost right away, though still expecting the statue to potentially attack.
"Bet that's the larder. We can check it out when we aren't crunched for time. Up we go!"
Yes your detect magic is still up and you have not detected anything that you would not expect. This goes for the same as you ascend to the steps to the third floor as the stairway appears free of wards.
The winged elf statue does not react to your towel. You would do not see any traps and everything appears clear.
The floor of the stairs is burnt and eaten away away by some caustic material. There is recently dried blood on the stairs and wall starting about halfway up.
The air is much cooler as you reach toward to top of the stairs and it has a rather putrid aroma to it. The door at the top is closed. Daventry hears nothing beyond the door, not even a mouse.
For order, I suggest: Dav, Klin (melee), Ilam (guess he's a rogue? can join melee or use bow), Pardot, Tri, Ludolf (alternatively move Pardot to the trail end if we want some high AC to cover our tail)
For order, I suggest: Dav, Klin (melee), Ilam (guess he's a rogue? can join melee or use bow), Pardot, Tri, Ludolf (alternatively move Pardot to the trail end if we want some high AC to cover our tail)
Pardot, staying quiet, as the air around him silences their steps, whispers to the others as they approach the door, "Is there anyway to see beyond the door? It feels like we're walking into a trap... even though one part of it was sprung already... Do be careful!"
((I'm fine with Pardot in the middle or rear. he does have pretty decent AC after all))

Ascending the stairs you are able to push the door open with ease. It creaks as it swings inward to reveal a putrid lair of filth. What might once have been an elegant bedroom has long since been soiled and ruined. Murals of Sune that lined the walls have been defaced with dirt and filth.
Three beds are covered in moldy blankets and animal furs, including one topped by a canopy of giant bones and reeking, untanned hides. Empty crates are scattered throughout the room like furniture, holding broken weapons, moldering clothing, and other odd objects.
Daventry enters the room first and standing directly across from her is a thin, pale creature whose long, matted black hair is festooned with ornaments made from bones and teeth. Her mouth curves up unnaturally high at the corners, and her bloodred lips are covered in blisters and boils. The creature says, "We've been expecting you. It seems you are on to our fun here but that ends now. Will enjoy tormenting you and your friends for a very, very long time." The hag's voice and appearance have the passing familiarity of the oldest sister, Morgan.
The hag does not seem interested in monologuing as she rears back prepared to launch an attack as you all are stuck in the stairway.
Daventry you see the hag directly in front of you about 15 feet away. You can not see around the corners of the door at this point and you do not see the other two hags.
It is initiative time!

Daventry deflects the cackling electrical blast, arcs of lightning refracting off her shield and scouring the stones around her. As she begins to charge forward, the vile words of Dread Morgan begin to worm into her brain. For just a moment she feels the domination take hold, the hags' visages returning to their beautiful pure forms, and that her own self is less important than what these women want.
Then she remembers Triasa's song. **** that, she thinks, and readies her charge once again.

Those in RED may act. Given the tight nature of the stairs and you companions we will consider each PC you have to move through difficult terrain. At the very least you will have to move through Daventry to get out of the stairs. No one has line of sight on the hags unless you are in front of Daventry.

Ludolf nods and tries to take cover should this statue too prove to have claws and attack them.
Triäsa is not sure what everyone is taking cover from exactly, but she will try to crouch down near Ludolf for whatever cover she can manage.
