Distracted by the oversensetive gnome, Ludolf has completely forgotten the state of the team, but now he turns to the others with a worried look, starting to magically clean up Triäsa, seeming a bit embarrased that he can't do more to alleviate her pain. "Yes, perhaps some rest back at the mansion would be a good idea too." He says, looking at Triäsa and Pardot who seems to be the worst off after the fiery inferno.
Triäsa for a moment glares at Ludolf and ignores Daventry's inquiry. "Hey!" she calls out loudly. Her glare then turns back to Stonky as she grasps her lute tightly. With a brief strum of the strings she casts Enhance Ability (Eagle's Splendor) on herself.
"YOU THINK YOU CAN JUST YELL AT ME AND MAKE ME COWER DOWN? NO!" she yells, quite loudly, though still speaking in a measured voice. She nudges Ludolf out of the way. "YOU BEST LOOK AT ME STONKY! AND PAY ATTENTION!" Hopefully having that attention, she continues, her voice lowered a tiny bit and still trying to sound calm. "In NO way did I disparage your custodial engineering ability. But can you preserve EVIDENCE? It was but a simple question that, in your burst of ego, you still have not answered. But it deserved an actual response."
Noticing Triäsa's glare, Ludolf quickly takes a step aside and now it's his turn to go a bit pale as the young half-elven bard takes on the quite irritable gnome in verbal combat. It isn't the first time he has seen the temperament of Tri but nevertheless he stands in awe and silence for a moment before composing himself and taking a step forward, ready to step in if the gnome would now go ballistic.
Daventry smirks at Triasa, and puts a hand on Ludolf's shoulder as he tries to take a step forward, whispering. "Relax. I'd say she's got this handled."
As the others look over, they suddenly notice Pardot popping yet another good berry into his mouth, clearly more than he normally eats as there is a bit of juice staining his lips, he replies, mouth somewhat full, "Ah'm ok now. But some rest'll be needed thoon." Then swallowing all the berries continues, "Either way, our trip to Waterdeep just became more important. Will we still have a day to get ready?"
The gnome is pacing frantically when Triäsa retort fires back at him. Clearly not used to having his authority questioned he wheels around quickly to face his accuser. So taken back by the confrontation he does not notice the mop that was left carelessly on the floor. Catching his toe as he turns Stonky trips and lands hard face first on the ground. He lifts his head up and you see blood streaming down his newly split chin. A tense silence crosses the room as Stonky speaks in a quiet, subdued voice, "Yes, we can handle evidence..."Rage burns in his eyes as he glares at Triäsa, "Satisfied?" There are a few quiet sideways glances before a few members of the crew rush to the gnomes side and help him up to his feet.
"Uh right... Well that was interesting!" Fistandia states in her typical matter of fact manner, "So what's next? Any other leads or shall we prepare for our trip and meeting with the Captain?"

"Aren't those like... a full day's worth of food each? So you just ate like thirty complete meals in one mouthful?" Daventry asks, eyebrow raised.
"Clearly you've never heard of the famous halfling 'second breakfast'!" Pardot replies with a grin, adding, "Though really, as you know, though they are quite satisfying, the berries are not very filling exactly. They'll keep you going, and are quite tasty, but often leave some to be desired."
As Stonky replies in a subdued tone, Triäsa nods to him with a smile. "You have more than proven your ability in the past. If you say you can handle preserving evidence, I am satisfied." She had moved towards him as well after he'd fallen, but keeps a step back as others rushed in. "I could help you with that wound if you would like," she offers. "I am very sorry you were injured." She again lightly strums the strings of her lute, having relaxed her hold on it now. She does however, keep back a bit as she sees the blood dripping along his chin.
Still having some attention at the exchange between Tri and the irritable gnome, Ludolf turns and responds to Fistandia. "Well, I was thinking I would try to research the name of Yellowcrest this afternoon. Maybe meet back at the mansion for dinner and make final plans for our trip north? Unless we have some teleporting magic available I would think going by ship north, checking that village to deal with Candlekeep's supply problem on our way to Waterdeep is still a good plan."
"No one appreciates us... We'll show them... best custodians the world has ever seen!"The gnome mumbles as he avoids any further contact or recognition from Triäsa. He simply waves his hand at your apology and gets to work a bit more calmly. Buron smiles at your music and nods as he follows the gnome.
(OK sounds like we are ready to move on with research montage dinner and then meeting with Jan the next day? I know Pardot's plan. Is there any thing else anyone wants to do before I start the next scene. It is late afternoon.)

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Triäsa stands for a moment as the others start to head their own ways, holding her side. "You know, probably a long shot, but I am going to see if any of Matreous' neighbors might know anything. Or perhaps his other acquaintances. He did have friends of some sort here around Candlekeep I would think."
Her plan is to try and see if anyone might be around at residences around where Matreous' room was located. And just try to see if maybe they noticed anything odd about him or knew of any people he might have hung around with. (If needed - Persuasion: 21)
Ludolf nods at Triäsa, a bit reluctant to leave her in her still very weakened state. He much doubted Matreous had much friends, any friends in fact, but it was still worth a try to find out more about the old man. "You do that Triäsa, but be wary, threats are obviously still lurking within the walls of Candlekeep." He says grimly, then giving the team a nod and turns to walk away, setting out to do his research on the name of Yellowcrest.
It's quite some time later that Triäsa makes her way back to the mansion. It had certainly taken a bit to find someone who had anything at all to say about Matreous. Now back she looks around to see if anyone else had beat her there.

"Well, yes, but at the moment it's not Tri I'm worried about." Ludolf says quietly to Dav, hoping the gnome realizes when to back down.
