After Jerick stabilizes Kysken with skills he learned while working on a merchant ship tending to wounded shiphands, he surveys the bloody scene.
"So, are we dealing with worms that turn their victims into undead monsters?"he asks the others.
"Does anyone need to rest or should we push through? We could try to put Kysken here in a safe location until she comes to; hopefully she could find us. Or we wait here for her and keep watch. What do you think?"

Glugrug considers their options. "Let us give her a moment or two,"he says. "I wonder if there is anything around here that might help revive her..." He takes a quick look around the room and searches the bodies of the fallen. As he works, he pauses for a moment, putting a hand to his head...
Investigation 11
OOC: Is the throbbing/pulsing still going in his head?
(Jerick and Glugrug make another Constitution saving throw.)
Glugrug searches the bodies of the fallen guests and the room at large. He finds that they are all wearing fine jewellery which might fetch a nice profit if they were sold. Of course, the jellwery might just be an illusion.
However, Glurug also notices that near to the door, that leads to the kitchen, he is a hole the size of a dinner plate and circular too. Peering in through the door three more bodies can be seen. These are all dressed in white and wearing an apron. Rotting food can be smelt coming from somewhere inside mixed with the smell of blood. Windows are open and are creaking in the breeze.

Aranea agrees with the hobgoblin, which she was not expecting to do. "Yes, we should take a bit of a breather before pressing onwards. We almost lost our half-elven friend here."

Glugrug motions to the others so that they can look through the hole and see the bodies in the kitchen. Certainly something has torn through the manor, leaving an awful lot of destruction in its wake. He wonders if there might be a way to harness such power...

Aranea moves toward Glugrug and peers through the hole. Perhaps there may be something of use inside the kitchen, something they can use against the monsters or something to heal Kysken.
"I can try to sneak inside and take a look around without alerting any more undead," said Aranea.
After announcing her plan, Aranea moves to the kitchen door, opening it quietly in an effort to sneak inside undetected.
Jerick continues to hear the sound of rhythmic beating, but it is slightly louder.
Whereas for Glugrug the noise stops and he is able to hear properly again.
Aranea heads into the kitchen and everything remains quiet. The bodies remain still and nothing enters into either room. She begins looking around the broom but only finds a purse contains fifty silver pieces. There seems to be nothing else worthwhile in the kitchen and she rejoins the rest of you in the great hall.
That leaves two more rooms left to explore that join the great hall. One to the west, which peering through the door again seems to be a rather large bedroom. Luxurious carpets, paintings and antiques can be seen decorating this room, which surrounds the large bed. Another hole can be seen in the floor of the room at the foot of the bed. This hole seems to be bigger than the others and is not quite as circular.
To the south, the room appears to be a library furnished all in black. The walls are lined with bookshelves. Although opposite the door is a massive pendulum clock that appears to be broken, frozen in time. A desk stands in the middle of the room with an open book lying on top.

"That hole by the bed... it's probably where the worms return to their nest," Jerick whispers to his companions. "That madman in the foyer said the worms come from below."
"Someone stay with Kysken while I go investigate that library." Without waiting for a response or for anyone to move to Kysken, Jerick enters the library. He looks for any clues, and is still keeping an eye out for anything that could heal Kysken.
Aranea returns to the stricken woman and kneels down by her. Satiated with blood for the moment, she is not tempted by the prone, vulnerable woman, though she can still see the woman's pulse throbbing in her neck. She hopes to find some sort of healing potion for the woman, not because she is friends with any of these random people, but because, as she sees it, she stands the best chance of surviving this strange circumstance if the others are alive and able to fight.
Jerick heads into the library and begins to investigate. The open book is just a book of poems. He opens the pendulum clock and a swarm of rats beings fleeing out of the clock and into the main hall. Then Jerick notices a dagger tucked into the side of the clock's interior.

(Okay, so Kysken has removed themselves from the campaign page.)
Jerick examines the dagger and something in the back of his mind is sparks a fire as he recalls forgotten knowledge. He recognises the bone-handled dagger as a magic dagger known as a Ghost Eye. He remembers that these daggers have the ability to grant their wielder the ability to see in the dark. As well as giving a slight advantage in battle.
(Magic Eye: +1 to attack and damage rolls; darkvision 60ft.)

Jerick raises a calming hand, "Fear not. My previous white eyes that could see in the dark are now white and can see in the dark! It's this magic dagger I found. Come, let's end this nightmare."
He goes to the hole by the bed and peers in. (He should still have his 120ft dark vision, I assume.)
Aranea is not perturbed by the gnome's suddenly milky white eyes. She has seen much stranger, more disturbing things in her life. She eyes the dagger he has found with appreciation.
"Yes, let us proceed to slay these worms. Perhaps then we can learn the fate of the baron's wife," she tells the men. "But I should inform you that Kysken has died from her wounds."
She regards the still form of the half-elven woman dispassionately. Her tone indicates she might as well be remarking on the weather.
(What is Kysken's status?)
(I think unconscious but alive.)

When Jerick returns to the others, they see his eyes are now milky white.

Glugrug raises a hand as if to stop the deep gnome. "What has happened to you?" he says bluntly. "Your eyes are turning white...are you diseased?"
