I'll wait until everyone weighs in before I narrate what happens as you go. I'm assuming the group continues down that trail unless anyone tells me otherwise, but the question as far as I understand is what to do with the goblins. Daveth, with your survival roll, you shouldn't have much trouble following the trail.
[ooc]They will be traveling along with us, amidst the group ;)[/ooc]
[As you make your way down the path, Daveth in the lead, all of you can't help but feel anxious about the "eating-cave" comment and the idea of "fewer than twenty" goblins. How many fewer? You don't have any idea. Soon, you find yourselves following a small stream. You're lucky you have the goblins with you--they direct you around two different rope traps that would have left you dangling upside down from a tree, easy pickings for any being who came across you. At one point, Wagg the goblin interrupts Belwar, who is lost in thought, and steers the gnome around a pit trap that he says was dug for the goblins to hunt. If any of you have questions, Wagg seems happy to answer them. Zarm, the other goblin, is resolutely silent but keeps shooting murderous looks at Kress.
After about two hours of trudging through the wet leaves of the forest, you come to a cave mouth. The small stream continues into the cave, which is shielded by a large growth of brush on one side and virtually flat rock on the other. From this point, you don't hear much except the rushing of water, and you can't see into the darkened mouth of the cave. The two goblins with you stop, and Wagg points towards the entrance.
"Yeemik there! Will helping against Big Klarg! Wagg will helping too if you making Yeemik be in charge! Yeemik not helping King Grol!" Zarm, the other goblin, hasn't said anything to this point, but he looks disgustedly at Wagg. "Wagg, Klarg in charge! Yeemik not strong. King Grol good king! Wagg is bad, not loyal, weak!" The two goblins look like they might be about to fight despite their bound wrists.
What's the plan? (G on the map below represents the two bound goblins.)]
“Wagg, Zarm, please don’t fight. Wagg, you want to help? Are there any patrols or guards outside the front of the cave? Any more traps like that pitfall you helped me avoid? Would the other goblins inside agree with you about Yeemik or would they side with Zarm and Klarg?”
Wagg tells you that there are guards inside, but none outside. He tells you that Yeemik and Klarg each have the loyalty of about half the goblins inside. He doesn't seem inclined to answer more questions without you assuring him that you'll help Yeemik.
"You are making too much noise" - Telurion frowned - "No more talking"- he added, gagging them again.
[ooc]I had posted that I would gag them, but no harm, no foul ;)[/ooc]
Keeping an eye on the goblins, and holding the rope that keeps them tied, he turned to Belwar - "We know nothing of this Yeenik, or Klarg to be honest, so I do not think we can actually offer to help one or the other, but we can use that information to sow dissent in there, in case we are intercepted?" - he commented - "Agreed?"
Daveth nods to Telurion,"A solid plan." To the rest of the group he will say, "If any of you consider yourself stealthy, now would be the time to make use of those skills. Otherwise I am comfortable leading the charge."
“I can scout ahead, probably without being seen.”He said to Daveth, feeling a little less uneasy by seeing that the cleric was now open to waiting before acting. A huge improvement from the discussion earlier as far as he was concerned.“Question is, what comes after? I’m assuming I return as soon as I notice some kind of enemy, but them what will we do? Try to use the information about the internal division or simply kill whoever is in front of us? In fact, how will we even use the information about the internal conflict? Will we try to approach Yeemik or any of his associates and tell that if they strike the other half of the tribe we will take care of Klarg or help any other way? If so, how can we even know who he or an associate of his is? Also, what guarantee do we have that after he becomes the chief of the cave he will even let us live?”
He then looked at the goblins. A few years back he would have suggested to silence them for good. They had already guided them to the cave and seemed to have little inclination to cooperate further. No, a few years back he would have made them cooperate. Now the idea itself seemed to bring him nausea.
“By the way, we should gag them, before they scream for help.”
Daveth will give an exasperated sigh and say, "By Lathander's light man! Investigate the cave or do not! We can discuss strategy once we know what we're dealing with!" If Kress lingers for longer than three more seconds Daveth will march into the cave.
Daveth, if you wind up marching into the cave, a stealth and a perception check at disadvantage, please. If you're not trying to be subtle, then a perception check at disadvantage because you don't have darkvision.
Daveth casts light on his shield, "Lathander light my path." He will then enter the cave. He will cross the stream to the other side and enter using that bit of dry land if it is wide enough. He will not attempt to be stealthy, knowing that is not his strong suit, but he will not be reckless in his approach.
About two to two and a half feet deep. So pretty deep for Belwar, not bad at all for anyone else. Daveth, with the light on your shield, you see a path leading forward. There is a small chamber to your right and you think you see another path up ahead to your left. There's also a path continuing straight ahead. Unfortunately, your companions and the stream drown out any other noise you might have heard, but you're pretty sure you smell something from the cave to your right. You'd have to get closer to see what it is...
Seeing how deep the stream is on Daveth, I come to the revelation that this stream would likely come up to my chin….maybe even higher. It seems just a little too risky to jump across. The risk is definitely not worth maybe getting my books wet. “Anyone mind giving me a hand across the stream? I’m pretty sure it might drown me.”

Daveth will turn to the others before heading into the cave, "Learn anything useful?"

”Correct. I was trying to glean information. I have little interest in the politics of goblins.”
"Perfectly understood" - Telurion nodded in agreement.
Daveth nods to Telurion, "A solid plan." To the rest of the group he will say, "If any of you consider yourself stealthy, now would be the time to make use of those skills. Otherwise I am comfortable leading the charge."

Kress, a stealth and a perception check, please.

How deep is the stream?
Daveth casts light on his shield, "Lathander light my path." He will then enter the cave. He will cross the stream to the other side and enter using that bit of dry land if it is wide enough. He will not attempt to be stealthy, knowing that is not his strong suit, but he will not be reckless in his approach.
Here are the rolls if you need them:
Perception: 10
Stealth: 3
About two to two and a half feet deep. So pretty deep for Belwar, not bad at all for anyone else. Daveth, with the light on your shield, you see a path leading forward.
