Before entering the cave Calder dons his shield and follows in behind the first two. He kisses his medallion of Avandra and clutches it at his chest being ready to cast a spell if needed. "Keep an eye out for traps," he says in a low voice to those in the front.

Gus has always been thankful of his ability to see in dark or dim conditions, it has saved his hide more than a few times. He creeps into the mouth of the cave and peers into the inky depths, interspersed with the glowing blue specks.

You don't see anything immediately in the way. The cave stretches onwards for what seems like forever, and you can't see past a certain point.
Calder notices the pebble that Moonoak just pried from the cave wall. He turns to Dark Sight, "Is that one of those explosive rocks like the one you got from the guard?"

"Explosive?" I hand the pebble to Dark Sight, then carve another from the wall. Out of some stone, I carve a handle for a throwing knife, but with a small round slot instead of one for a blade. I put the new pebble in the slot, then hold it in place with s bit of tree sap. Sleigh of hand for success of my explosive throwing weapon: 21

You carve a rough shape that... partially resembles a knife handle. Where are you getting tree sap from?
ooc: i just made stats for the item, but the homebrew request has not yet been accepted. Here are the stat ideas for the 'blastsparker' (that is what i named it):
Wondrous Item, common
a stone throwing knife handle with an explosive stone at the end.
When thrown: +[dex bonus] to hit, range 30/60 ft., 1 target. hit: 1D4+[dex bonus] bludgeoning damage plus 1D6 thunder damage, and any creature within 10 feet of the target must make a DC16 dexterity saving throw of take 1D4 thunder damage. The explosive stone is destroyed. Then, roll a D6. If the roll is lower than or equal to the number of times the weapon has been used, the handle is destroyed.
weight: 1 pound
EDIT: alright, the request has been accepted now. Adding 1 Blastsparker to inventory. Tell me if anything is wrong with this, i tried very hard not to make it overpowered.
wait, no. My character has no Homebrew. We will just keep track of my Blastsparkers seperately.

I would rather have done this myself, as I am the DM. Try not to make stats for an item you don't know as well as I do. Keep that in mind going forward.
Well, for one thing, it was just an idea that might or might not have been accepted as canon by the DM, and secondly, the idea is that you are trying to get out of the way before the weapon hits. Also, it is only a D4 of damage.

I will. However, do you accept it to be mostly accurate?
Calder notices the pebble that Moonoak just pried from the cave wall. He turns to Dark Sight, "Is that one of those explosive rocks like the one you got from the guard?"
"It appears to be of the same composition. Be careful with these."
OOC: Well, for one, explosions are purely bludgeoning damage in D&D (in my experience). Everyone also seems to be misinterpreting me. A palm-sized chunk of this crystal would be a firecracker, so a pebble would do a 1d4 on a hit. I'm fine with the D6 roll idea. From this point forward, you have to take time to make one of these, and succeed on a Dex check. If you have Mason's Tools and are proficient, you can add your proficiency bonus to your Dex check, but only if you have Mason's Tools and are proficient with them can you add your proficiency bonus. It should be a roll to hit, not a DC. Like throwing a dagger.

Dark Sight scampers behind Calder, taking head of what he said, all the while attempting to remain unseen among the rocks.
I make a perception check (6). Can i have a description of the area of the cave, where we are and ahead?
messed up with some modifiers. tried to fix it, but my post got confusing. removing.

Well, we are still near the cave mouth, right? So, a nearby tree.
If we are not near the cave mouth, i instead use a bit of string that was shed over time by the rope in my pack.

OOC: Seems a high DC on the secondary damage
