Vaguely, Chimparielky knows that breaking the buildings around is bad, or at least, something that should generally be avoided if possible. More prominent, however, is the feeling of danger she's in and the fact that she has fallen into a hole - literally. Chimparielky grabs onto the part of the building that's still intact and pulls herself back to standing. She then slaps two of the archers above her, pushing the two poor guards off the roof.
Action: Multiattack. One attack against #17, the other against #19. Attack #1: 15+9=24, damage: 21+6=27. Attack #2: 14+9=23, damage: 18+6=24.
Snow’s Dissonant Whisper penetrates the giant lizard’s reptile brain, causing it to turn to look at him then flee, suffering 9HP damage.
Auger can’t see #13 on the roof, who pulled back from view after taking his shot, so the guiding bolt does not fire. As for Fear. The lizard, carrying its three riders, succumbs to the spell and dashes away from Auger and out of the area. The riders drop their lances and grab the reins, unable to control their terror. Auger had to reposition to P22 to maximize his area of effect. Py zips away following #52, with the lizard now following the Fey Alyasub.
Chimparielky’s attacks sweep the archers near her off of the roof, and (using the cleaving rule), a third fighter also plummets, screaming, to the ground to perish on the sandy cobblestones. The remaining archers continue to pincushion her with arrows from a distance.
The second huge lizard Py had warned you about now comes from an unexpected direction, having gone around the back of a building to traverse the alley behind Snow. Clawed flat feet slapping as it runs, it charges down the alley and, seeing Snow nearby carries three garrison riders with lances past the bard to attack him with lances. Once again, a rope-like tongue lashes out of the 4-foot long sharp-toothed maw of this second lizard, slapping the air between it and Auger, next in the line of assault.
Archers 13, 14, 15, and 20 against Chimparielky:
#15: 20 to hit / 8HP, #14: 17 to hit / 6HP, and #15: 18 to hit / 10HP. #20 rolls 5 to hit (miss).
Lances against Snow: 21(-5 for cutting words = 16: miss), 8 (miss), and 22 for 9HP damage.
Seeing the lizard run away with its soldiers along for the ride gives Auger a momentary sense of joy. Then he looks up as archers fall nearby. Yes, being under Chimparielky had not proven wise as he steps away from the building and around the bodies.
Only then does Auger realize there are other attackers from behind and they were attacking Snow! Thinking quickly Auger dismisses the idea of releasing more motes from the Diadem so as not to burn Snow, neither could he create a deafening noise without also catching Snow. Still the Diadem had proven useful, perhaps he could scare the Lizard with it. Auger then releases another bolt from the Diadem, targeting the Lizard. It is as effective a blow as he had seen the Diadem deliver, searing the Lizard and leaving it glowing from the slowly degrading energies of the Diadem.
Auger quickly follows with a pair of his twisting blasts, hoping to push the lizard back and back again, hitting both times and damaging it heavily. Finally Auger backs away, sensing the Lizard may charge him next.
Bonus Action: Yemma's Guiding Bolt, targeting the Lizard. 30 (crit!) for 15 points of radiant damage. The Lizard now presents advantage to attackers through the end of Auger's next turn.
Action: Eldritch Blast, both beams targeting the Lizard, pushing 10' on a hit.
Beam 1: Crit (again! and I forgot to roll with advantage!) for 15 more points of force damage
Beam 2: 28 for 12 point of force damage
Move: To K24

As Snow gets surprised by the appearance of the second lizard and the attacks of the guards, he loses focus on the Polymorph spell (Nat 1 on the save!).
"Curses!", he snaps, just as much because the magical energies fizzle out as because he was hurt by one of the lances. He reaches out with his mind to push the lizard away and then retreats away from the lizard and guards trying to find more cover.
"Stick that lance where the sun doesn't shine", he calls at the guard that hit him as he moves away, lacing the words with debilitating magic.
He then looks up to make sure Varielky is ok.
Bonus Action: Telekinetic Shove lizard, or guard if lizard down, away from him, DC16 Str save or moved 5ft away. Movement: 30ft to P20 (P21) up against the wall to get cover from archers Action: Vicious Mockery on guard who hit him, DC18 Wis save or take 8 psychic damage and have disadvantage on the next attack roll it makes before the end of its next turn. Reaction:
If anyone hits him - “Careful with that weapon, you are more likely to hurt yourself than me!”
One moment Chimparielky, a huge chimpanzee capable of scaling six-stories tall buildings and flattening men a will. But after unexpectedly shrinking and changing form into her old self, a transformation that takes mere seconds, just an armoured woman stands where the chimpanzee just did, a bit confused. It is fortunate that she pulled herself up from the caved-in roof, or she'd be stuck down there. On the other hand, a brief glance downward reveals that she might be stuck here alone.
She'll find a way to deal with this matter later. For now, Varielky runs towards the near archer, trusting - perhaps praying - that the building doesn't fall apart beneath her feet. Varielky draws Dreygaard, but before she reaches the archer, she halts, knowing that a barrage of arrows might be fired at her any moment, and she gets ready to block or dodge them, whichever she can. "Next time give me a warning beforehand!" She calls down to Snow, though she knows it was, most likely, not intentional. Magic.
Auger’s attacks all strike the huge lizard, which is now down to about half HP but still a terrible threat. Snow’s shove fails to gain purchase against the huge beast. Guard 9 takes 8HP damage, and feels a blushing anger which hinders him.
Varielky rushes archer #20, watching her footing. The archer backpedals, firing at the shield-maiden (at disadvantage) as she advances, his arrow deflecting off of her shield.
Archers #14 and #15 fire down at Auger. 23 (crit) for 20HP, and 19 for 6HP, before they back away from the edge of the roof out of view once again. The two Imperial sorcerers peek into the alley and shoot firebolts at Auger, both hitting with 18s, for 10 and 7 HP respectively, before ducking back out of view again.
#13 fires at Varielky at disadvantage, (19/13) missing due to her dodge.
The lizard dashes forward again, now pinning Snow against the wall, smashing the nearby arquebus aside. The first fighter attacks with his lance (19 for 9HP), only missing due to the bard’s cutting words.
Attacked from different angles, Auger again redirects the arrows and strange energies that assault him. Only one arrow finds its mark, hurting Auger immensely. Still though he keeps his attention on Snow, clearly under attack and possibly in need of greater support.
With the new position of the Lizard and the riders, Auger now feels he can unleash a stronger attack. Reaching into the Sea of Stars he sends the air away from the area of the Lizard, and when the surrounding air returns to the zone, the thunderous clap has a damaging effect on all nearby. After that, Auger again releases a bolt from the Yemma's Diadem, targeting the Lizard, before retreating and trying to find some cover near the as-yet undamaged siege engine.
Reaction: Auger reacts with Shield and so only the Crit gets through.
Concentration: Auger maintains concentration on Fear with a 19 on the concentration saving throw. (round 3 of 10)
Action: Cast Shatter, upcast to Level 3, centered at P23 (I want a circle that has zero chance of hitting Snow). Those who fail the DC18 Con saving throw take 11 points of damage (sigh) or half if they make the save.
Bonus Action: Yemma's Guiding Bolt, targeting the Lizard, a 22 for 8 points of radiant damage. Attacks on the Lizard will again be with Advantage through the end of Auger's next turn. (I forgot to role this attack with advantage so its actually a 26 to hit).
Move: To G23, trying to use the siege engine as cover (but not going prone).
Realizing how pointless it would be to chase an archer in circles, Varielky turns around. When she was near it before, the gap didn't seem to big. She should be able to make it... though if she somehow fails, that would hurt a lot.
Varielky starts running, accelerating as much as she can before she reaches the end. ["Thor!"] She prays in Dreyen. ["May your mighty winds carry me in the sky, and great thunder vanquish my enemies!"]
Just as she finishes praying, Varielky reaches the edge of the building. If she wants to make the jump she must not hesitate. She leaps. To reach as far as she can, as high as she can. For a moment, hanging in the air, her shield and sword raised, long hairs waving in the wind behind her. But soon she'll land, either on the roof or far below.
If she manages to get across, her prayer has a double effect. Not only did she get across, but as she lands, a second thunder follows Auger's. A great force is emitted from her armour, Thunder, threatening to crush the insides of the nearby archers.
Action: Dash.
Movement: To H-19. With a running start, Varielky should be able to jump even 20' long.
BA: Casting Shatter through Thunder. All enemies within 10' must make a DC 18 Constitution save or take 25 thunder damage, half on a success.
"Apologies", Snow shouts up to Varielky in response to her request for a warning.
He winces twice, once at each of the thunderous explosion sounds, then refocusses on the lizard and it's riders in front of him. They looked a little worse for wear compared to the moments before the first explosion sound.
He tries to push the lizard away with his mind then, as he did with the other lizard which was possibly only moments away from returning, he whistles a haunting melody that only it can hear.
He then looks to dart away across to the other side of the alley.
Bonus Action: Telekinetic Shove lizard away from him, DC16 Str save or moved 5ft away. Action: Dissonant Whispers, DC18 Wis save or take 12 damage and use it’s reaction to run it’s full speed away. On a save it takes 6 damage. Movement: Across the alley 30ft to J20 - tucking back to not be seen from down the alley.
Varielky’s petit armored form arcs over the alleyway, landing inches from the three archers perched atop the tall residential building. The shockwave she causes splinters their bows, which snap under pressure of their taut bowstrings, and two of them are shaken dead where they stand, shuddering as they careen off the roof. A third survives but the roof collapses under that last fighter, who, scrabbling for purchase, grabs a piece of the building’s facade which, alas, peels off, leaving him to cartwheel downwards to the ground. The roof under Varielky likewise buckles. (OOC: Make a DEX 15 save or lose your balance and fall off of the structure at the beginning of your next turn.)
Auger’s arcane energies thunder and burn into the riders and the huge lizard which then rears up and bolts away to escape Snow’s haunting melody. The area is now clear of enemies, the two sorcerers either having fled or not making themselves known.
There is no sign of Py, which remains out of range for the time being.
If Varielky makes her save, we drop out of initiative. If she did not make her save, time is of the essence.
Never has Varielky thought of herself as capable of destroying buildings. Break doors? Maybe. As a giant chimp only recently? She wasn't truly herself, so it doesn't count. Maybe it was just terrible construction, or perhaps, Varielky and her gear contained more power than she imagined. Whatever the case, by the time Varielky feels the roof buckling beneath her, it is already too late. Varielky has about three seconds of terror as she sees the broken roof rapidly moving away, and barely has enough time to brace for a painful impact. There's barely even time to let out an uncharacteristic scream.
A loud metallic sound rings for a moment as Varielky hits the ground. She feels a sharp pain in the back of her head and can taste blood, but miraculously she's not only still alive, but also conscious. Whether it was a quality of the magical armour she was wearing, divine protection or just dumb luck doesn't matter much. Her whole body hurts, and worried she might have broken something, she remains to lie for the moment. She cannot see any enemies around anyhow.
Dexterity save: 4+1=5. Damage: 27 (assuming 7d6 for the 70' fall).
Seeing the lizard run off and no other guards in view, Snow relaxes for a moment. That is until he hears another crash from above him. He twists and looks up, seeing Varielky teetering on the edge of the ledge.
He looks to Auger, wondering if there was anything he could do, but with time of the essence he figures he cannot wait to find out. Turning he starts to climb the structure towards Varielky, but it is too slow going.
If he was going to reach her in time, it would require magical intervention. He stands on a window ledge perhaps 10 feet up and sweeps the Treewild Cloak around him. Focussing his will upon it he pushes through the membrane into the Feywild and disappears from the material plane, where all that remains is a cloud of pollen. Once in the Feywild he rushes across the vastly different landscape, once again marvelling at the colour and vibrancy there. When he feels it is time to exit he pushes back through the membrane of the cloak and appears on the ledge by Varielky in another cloud of pollen, arm outstretched to steady her...
Movement: 10-15ft up the wall Action: Casts Dimension Door using the special rules for the Treewild Cloak (60ft for one action). Interact: Reaches out for Varielky to grab his hand.
Auger hears the crashing sound from above, sees a body fall and then observes Snow leap into action, climbing quickly up and then disappearing, leaving a little cloud behind... like Kotashin?
Hoping everyone is okay, Auger moves to peek around the corner where he sees Snow and Varielky balancing on the ledge up high in a zone where the building is crumbling. That looks precarious, Auger thinks. Most of his abilities exhausted for the moment, Auger does not see how he could get up there to help. Instinctively, Auger reaches towards them, but though it seems it would be too late, in his mind he reaches towards Py, who might lend some assistance if either of them needs to climb.
(OOC: Lol. In the interests of moving things along I just rolled a DEX save for Snow to keep his footing and a STR save for Varielky to pull up. Both natural 1’s. In my surprise I forgot that I meant to give Varielky advantage. Her second roll is 16, good enough. So, with Snow’s help Varielky pulls up. Snow, however…)
Snow appears above Varielky on the cracked and broken rooftop, reaches out his arm, and grabs her just as the ledge she’d been holding crumbles and she begins to fall. With effort, and the shield-maiden doing most of the pulling, Varielky reaches the roof, just at the moment when a board cracks under Snow. He loses his footing and now he falls. But Varielky still grasps his arm, keeps him from plunging away, and in a few moments, both have clambered up and are on the roof. They stand closer toward its center, where not unlike the building they landed upon earlier in the night, a central staircase opens to the roof via a 10x5’ sort of room. It is locked from the inside.
During this time, Py has been called back to Auger. ‘I was on the verge of catching him,’ it sends, ‘just when you called me here.’
Still no sign of the sorcerers, or any other change except that the strange light from the citadel which had been illuminating the area has gone. It is quite dark for Varielky, with no moon and grey clouds above.
The rain has stopped, and only the slightest sound of the second huge lizard, getting farther and farther away, can be heard. Then nothing.
Auger completes the summoning process and brings Py back into the world where he hears it tell him how close it was.
Yes, there are quite a few things running away at the moment, now I need to see if you can scout the temple ahead a little. Mind any wards and do tell me if more imperials are waiting in the courtyard ahead.
Auger looks up at the nearby building where he last saw Snow and Varielky's flailing bodies.
But start by looking up there, and ensuring Snow and Varielky are okay.
With a moment of free time, Auger releases a pair of twisting blasts into the nearby siege equipment, intending to at least disable the big engine if not destroy it.
(OOC: Auger holds concentration on Fear as long as he can.)

Varielky could already see herself falling, only trying to imagine what might happen when she lands. If Snow didn't appear out of a cloud of pollen, that would have come true, most likely.
"I'm grateful", Varielky says after both of them finally stand on steady ground. "But be careful when you try to save me, right?" Varielky sheathes her sword but keeps her shield on. "Now, let's find a way down."
Unless Snow can think of a better option, Varielky will try to force the locked door open. What does a broken door matter in comparison to the rest of the mess she's created?
Athletics?: 11+8(-3 if just Strength check)=19/16.
It takes some doing, but Auger’s blasts have turned the catapult into a pile of lumber by the time Snow and Varielky have broken through the roof access door and made their way downstairs into an entry courtyard and thence through a gate allowing egress to the courtyard, to join Auger.
By this time, Py has scouted the plaza facing the temple steps and returns, having seen no signs of movement in the immediate area.
Upon seeing Auger, both Varielky and Snow will note that he is pale and haggard looking. The damage from the arrow had led to some blood loss. The headache that came when Auger reached his power limits was already threatening to be quite substantial. As Auger attends to his arrow wound, he relays what Py has learned to the others.
"I think the Imperials will be back quite soon and we should get into and out of the Temple while we can. I would prefer not to be caught in an attack from the Red Cypress. Can either of you think how we should announce ourselves?"Thinking a moment longer, Auger adds, "I killed a few Imperials down the alley. There might be more in hiding, I was attacked magically at one point. Those Sorcerers may still stand."

"Now that is some good advice", Snow says as he gets a firm footing, his breathing a little ragged as the shock of almost falling fades.
He looks to the locked door, "A familiar scene. I guess we treat it the same as the last time", he adds, looking at the door frame for weak spots.
"Out of interest, I have never transformed into an animal myself. What was it like?", he asks as he is checking out the door.

Can either of you think how we should announce ourselves?" Thinking a moment longer, Auger adds, "I killed a few Imperials down the alley. There might be more in hiding, I was attacked magically at one point. Those Sorcerers may still stand."
