Rum looks at the package with a curious expression on his feline face. He makes no secret of it as he unwraps the gift, slowly revealing the wooden dragon themed bangle. He holds it up so he can see it as clearly as possible, and his eyes widen and a grin spreads across his face as he sees the draconic details reflected in the light.
“I have never…”, he starts to say before he loses his words and simply gives Ro a huge hug.
When he pulls away he slips it onto his right arm and pushes it up passed his elbow, adjusting it so the the head and tail are most visible.
“It is exquisite. I will wear it with pride, friend Ro. And know you are appreciated also, and most definitely favoured by the Great Dragon”, he says with a slight glisten in his eyes.
@Greko Ro responds to Greko with a smile of his own, "You're welcome! I'm glad you like it. After all this is over, I'd love to join you for a peaceful afternoon or two." Ro pauses a moment before asking, "Ro the Red, huh? What does the red stand for?"
@Rum Ro is initially taken aback by the sudden hug, but is quick to return the gesture. The elf-dwarf takes a quick look over the tabaxi and his new accessory, "You wear it well, friend. It warms me to know you like it."
For a few long seconds, Tuto stood quietly as he held the whistle in both hands. The light in his mask begins to quietly flicker, his eyes dimming in and out. Then, misty ribbons of his magic, began to pour from his eye sockets, mimicking tears. A gift...his friend has given him a gift. With shakey arms, Tuto put the necklace on. He reached for his flute, then spread his arms wide as he hugged Ro, quietly sobbing in the elf-dwarfs chest. Although, unlike Rum, he doesn't let go.
@Tuto Ro holds Tuto in a hug for as long as the gnome requires. Should Tuto try to communicate/ mime his intentions to Ro, the elf-dwarf would ask Tuto to wait a brief moment. Ro reaches into his bag and pulls out a single copper piece. He brings the coin to his lips and chants, "Let us speak with all restraints unbounded, let me hear your thoughts unclouded." This causes the coin to glow in a white flash, but not enough to be blinding. As it glows, Ro uses his thumb to push the coin against his forehead. As he removes the coin, the light leaves the coin and lingers on the elf-dwarf's head before slowly fading out.
"Thank you for your patience, Tuto. I learned this spell so that you could converse with me freely. Simply think your thoughts, and I will know them," Ro explains to Tuto with a warm smile.
(Ro has casted and is under the effects of detect thoughts.)
Lelith took the three arrows silently and inspected their craftsmanship carefully before putting them away with a look of satisfaction. She hesitated for several seconds before coming to a decision as turned toward Ro. "I have... never received a gift. Not one that did not also come with a price attached at the very least."
She offered a faint smile. "However, I would be a fool to not accept such a gesture with grace... You have my thanks. I will put some thoughts into giving you something in return."
"Ah the order I belong to has several colored magical casters all responsible for aiding in protecting the realm. Over the last few years, our numbers have dwindled with the darkness that grows. The colors symbolize the connection to magic...I am Greko the Green due to my connection to nature. I cast many spells learned from nature thus have earned the title Green. I and others who I have trained were tasked with protecting the woods. I fear I am the last of the Greens. The Reds are more diplomatic. Typically found at courts around the realm. I had expected the wizard here to be a Red but with the number of threats, they too may be scattered. The Reds typically know destructive magic, fire for example is typically their favorite. They also know other spells that would help aid in diplomacy like detect thoughts spell" Greko smiles sensing that's what Ro learned to speak with Tuto.
@Lelith Recalling the discussion the two shared back in God's Eye, Ro came to understand and grow accustomed to Lelith's icy nature. Ro paused a moment to ponder how best to respond to Lelith. Rather than overexplain the innocent intentions behind his gift, Ro elected to simply give the elf a warm smile. This smile carried a level of authenticity beyond the usual, practiced smile he often gave to others when making small talk. "You are very welcome, Lelith. I look forward to your gift."
@Greko "Ah, I see. Thank you for thinking so highly of me, Greko. I shall endeavor to be worthy of such a title," Ro responds to Greko with a smile and nod of approval, still holding Tuto in his arms.
@Tuto Ro tilts his head to focus on Tuto's thoughts. A wave of emotions flash across his face in quick succession: first concentration, followed by confusion, then to being lost in brief thought, and finally resolving to laughter. "A peculiar thought to say the least. Well, should you wish to communicate in the future, don't hesitate to ask me." Ro smiles at the gnome before gently placing him back down. The elf-dwarf chuckles, "He is a rather charismatic bard though."
Morning brought the rising of the two suns and an illusion of peace that, while nice to behold, was known to be fleeting to the band as they made their way to surface by an exit on top of the ridgeline behind the falls. Stretched out before them was a grassy savannah dotted here and there with Hylian Oaks that stretched far inland. The Zoras were good enough to help bring up their mounts and supplies, and while Princess Ruto didn't come up to see them off, Commander Cyreus did.
"You'll find Ganondorf's tracks lie that way." He said, pointing due west. "Follow the world to the point where the two suns rise and you'll find yourself in the edge of the Kokiri Forest in about two days. From there you're almost three days from the Great Tree, and roughly six days from Kakariko Village. I wish you luck. This shall not be easy, I have no doubt about that. I urge you to be careful."
He held his words after that. Commander Cyreus dawdled, acted like he may say more, then changed his mind and rallied his people. They began to make their way back toward the entrance they had come out of.
Rum woke early for meditation and training as was usual. He found it nice to spend the night on dry land, but did miss the sway of the boat as he slept.
As they leave the Zora Domain, he leads Herbs and Spice out onto the savannah and then turns back and listens to Cyreus’s instruction for travel.
“Many thanks for your hospitality. I wish you good fortune and the blessing of the Great Dragon over the time to come”, he says placing his palm over his heart and bowing his head.
He then turns to the rest of his band.
“Cyreus is right, we must be vigilant, we do not want to be caught unawares again”.
He looks over to Oten, to see whether he had a mount, or if he would be riding on the cart.
"Yes, thank you Cyreus. I apologize I cannot stay to assist for longer, but I know what I must do. Oh, and I will of course be bringing #CBP-010-B with me."Oten pats what appears to be a mechanical pack on his back, secured to him by four metal arms clamped tightly around his ribs. Made of the same chrome and steel as Oten, the others may have assumed it was simply part of him had they not seen him without it the previous day.
As Cyreus leaves, Oten notices Rum's glance. "I do not have a mount of my own. I hope it is alright for me to ride along on the cart? As well, I mean to apologize for yesterday before the princess. I hope it was not presumptuous of me to declare my joining you before I had been officially invited. I simply have rather good hearing, and overheard your decision while you were at the baths. Furthermore, from what I understand of humanoid social psychology, by simply proceeding on the assumption that I was accepted in front of a figure of authority, I create a situation in which it would be awkward to refute me, thereby decreasing the likelihood that you change your mind."
The faint sound of something spinning very fast inside his head can be heard as he stands still for a moment. There is a click and he resumes speaking. "After brief consideration, that last sentence was not relevant information for you. Feel free to disregard. In fact, I request that you do so."
Overhearing Oten's conversation with Rum, Ro laughs and chimes in, "Sounds like logical chess to me. No worries Oten, our group has no reason to deny you and only stands to benefit from your inclusion." Atop his warhorse mount, Ro summons his hummingbird familiar, Prim, and has her fly 50 ft above the group to serve as his eyes in the sky. "Let me know if you spot anyone around us, Prim."
As the rainbow colored hummingbird takes off, Ro then turns to the group, "So it's off to Kakariko Village I presume?"
Rum smiles at Oten, "Consider it disregarded, friend Oten. You are one of us now, so jump aboard, we have lots of ground to cover".
He watches briefly as Prim flies into the sky to act as their scout, nodding his approval to Ro. "Yes I believe that is the plan", he replies to The False Knight.
As soon as Oten, Tuto and Lelith are on the cart, he encourages the horses onwards at a brisk pace towards the direction of the twin sunrise.
As the cart begins to rumble along, Oten looks to his new companions in the cart. "So, this one..." Oten says to Lelith, gesturing to Tuto. "Is he unable to speak, or does he simply choose not to?"
"It was presumptuous," Lelith said impassively and she did not hide her apprehension at the impromptu addition. "Fortune is in your favour as my companions did not object, contraption."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Ahh."Oten responds to Lilith. his weight shifts back a bit, and with a series of whirs and clanks, the countless mechanisms and platings that make up his form adjust and shift into a neutral position, seeming to abandon the attempt at an interaction and withdraw into himself. He remains entirely still, the only sign of life being an occasional pulse of red at the center of his metallic eyes.
"Ahh," Ro interjects into Oten and Lelith's 'conversation', "As far as I know, Tuto is mute. But don't let that fool you, he is still ever the bard."
Ro pauses to admire his surroundings. The Zora ambush and subsequent audience with Zoran royalty happened so unexpectedly that Ro didn't have the time to realize he was home. Despite the circumstances, Ro felt a sense of security being back on familiar grounds. The elf-dwarf looks up to admire to admire the blue sky, catching Prim flying above happily.
Ro rides Penelope, his warhorse, alongside Rum's cart and attempts to converse with Oten, "So what's your story Oten? What brings you to respond to the Childlike Empress' call?"
Oten rouses slightly, turning his head to address Ro. "I was-"Someone insightful may recognize the way his eyes flit over to Lelith, an unconscious micro-expression that most wouldn't expect from a mechanical construct. Such a person may also recognize the hesitance brought on by Lelith's open cynicism towards him as he adjusts his statement mid-sentence. "-That is to say... There was an invitation presented by the Childlike Empress. After analyzing the data available on her, I concluded that an imperative issued by her carried an authority that superseded any other directives. Does that answer your question satisfactorily?" His tone has become particularly stiff and robotic.
