Akyan shows his amulet then walks over to Tamryn and nods rather than speaking aloud. Then he relays the message to both Kyrsa and Mina, "Meet us on the second floor, we think it will be easier to use the stairs rather than try to sneak onto the third floor."
Mina, just about to open the door to the third floor to peak and see where the voices were coming from, hears Akyan's voice in her head and stops short. Not knowing Kyrsa heard it to, she turns to the eladrin and whispers, "Akyan wants us to meet them on the second floor, they want to use this staircase to get to the third floor as well. Makes sense since they only have an amulet for the second floor."
She then responds to Akyan, Got it, we'll meet you on second. Let us know if there is a direction we should be heading to meet you. I'm assuming you don't know where this staircase is located.
Back to Kyrsa, "Did you want to meet Akyan on the floor and I stay in the staircase to let you in or would you like me to meet him? I am good either way." She smiles. This could be dizzying talking to someone in her head and the one in front of her at the same time.
Lyndaran/Logrum nods to Jhartaael's asertion and adds "Soon we deliver this" he pats the coin bag "Soon we can go and drink..." he says to his half-orc companion.
The stair guards inspect the amulets and grunt approval, allowing the four disguised elves access to the second floor. You emerge at the top of the stairs into a level virtually identical to the one you left, except that the exits at the end of the north and south hallways lead to a circular balcony instead of a guard station. In addition to two more stair guards on this level, there is one more guard in the southeast corner of this large room, and a fireplace with several chairs in front of it in the northeast corner. There are doors in the north, south and east walls.
Kyrsa nods, "Yes, I heard. We should meet them in that case." She pauses for a moment, considering. "Normally I would prefer to put myself in danger over any of you, but it seems that my potential to be a meat shield gets in the way of my being stealthy. So, if one of us must leave this passage to meet them, it should probably be you." It's rather hard for her to say this, but she can't help but remember what just happened outside. Stealth just didn't seem to be her strong suit as of late. "However, let's see if we can avoid leaving the staircase altogether. If they can find their way to us without one of us putting ourselves out in the open that would be best. I don't want to split up if we can help it."
She assumes that the other four will have a general sense of where the staircase is located based on the side of the building the entrance was located on. To Akyan she says, "Alright, you four should know which side of the building the passage is on based on Nyblond's directions...unless you got turned around to much upon entering. If you need help finding your way over here, one of us will go out to find you. However, I would rather you be as close to us as possible as we don't have disguises like you. I don't want Mina or I to risk being discovered alone."
To Mina she says, "I know they are going to need help locating the entrance as we have no clue what the outside of this place looks like or how well hidden these doors are on the other side. However, I want them to be as close to us as possible to reduce the amount of time either of us has to go poking around alone."
By the looks of it, there's no way to get to the secret stair without being seen he glances at the others, then telepathically tells Kyrsa and Mina, "This might take a bit, there's three guards in here, and there's not much of a way to get out of their sight."
As he does this, he whispers to the others, "Looks like we might have to rely on deception to get around these guys and to the stairs. Any ideas? Perhaps we could convince two of them that they have to take the money the rest of the way. Jhaartael can charm the last one and tell him that when the other two get back, he needs to tell them that we went back down to the first floor to leave."
(Are we in this room? Or are we still on the stairs going to the second floor?)
As the four ersatz half-orcs stand at the top of the stairs looking around blankly, the dwarvish guard in the southeast corner of the room sighs in an exasperated manner. "For the love... What are you guys waitin' fer, an invitation? Hurry up and drop off that money and skeedaddle. I've been standing here for hours, and I've got to see a dwarf about a dog, if'n you know what I mean..." He jabs his thumb at the door to his left. "Move it!"
Mina and Kyrsa, as you stand on the third floor landing whispering to one another, you hear footsteps descending from above. You do not see anyone yet, but from the sound of it they are no more than two floors above you, perhaps less, and approaching your position.
Tamryn says, deliberately looking over the top of the dwarf, "Oh! I was waiting for you. I didn't see you down there. Have you thought of getting a ladder?" He brings the money over to the dwarf and says, as he hands it over, "Where does one find the golden throne around here? Something from dinner ain't sitting right and I think I'll need to pay it a visit before I leave?"
A disguised Lyndaran hands the purse with the coins to Tamryn and thinks that perhaps they could start the fire in this stage, making Jhaartael mission for the opposing mob leader a success and that will bring them the chance to enter the secret staircase and rejoin the others. He, not for the first time, wishes to have his companions powers and be able to communicate with his mind.
As Tamryn speaks with the dwarf he slightly nudges his elbow at Jhaartael's side and looks towards the other room trying to go there with him so he can share his thoughts.
Frustrated, Akyan lets out an exasperated sigh, his breath hissing through clenched teeth. He should have just made a like with one of the woman and one of his group members. Too late for that now. Waving an arm to signal for Lyndaran to follow, “Well, let’s hurry this up. You do have the coin right?” He says the last bit with irritated sarcasm. He’s not irritated with Lyndaran, just at the general situation. His group should have just let Mina and Kyrsa continue on to look for whatever Nyblond needed while they set up the fire. He’ll tell Lyndaran and Jhaartael his thoughts once out of earshot. They’ll have to catch Tamryn up later.
He telepathy tells the women, “Forget what I said earlier, go search for the information Nyblond wanted. We’ll stall as long as we can and set up the fire here if possible. Hopefully I can let the others know this plan.”
"Not to me, you idiot!"snaps Cragger the dwarf. "In there! Are you drunk?"He sniffs in your direction experimentally. "Go inside and hand yer daily haul to the clerk, and get yer receipt, and beat it! In fact, do me and the rest o' the Cartel a favor and just jump off the balcony when yer through, huh?"
"All right," Kyrsa thinks to Akyan as her eyes shoot upwards towards the sound of oncoming footsteps. "We might be in for some company, hopefully we can get out of here undetected."
(I think we are still standing at the door to the third floor correct? I don't think either of us started moving yet.)
Kyrsa gives Mina a questioning look, wondering if Akyan sent her the same message. Then she whispers, "Looks like we don't have much of a choice. We either descend, hoping this person enters a door above us, or we enter now and hope no one is directly outside this door." The other option would be to try and get the jump on this fellow, take him out of the picture, and then assume his identity upon entering the third floor. That way at least one of them could go in first, check to make sure the coast is clear, and then signal for the other to join them. "Or we can try and take him out. Either way..." She glances upwards again, "We don't have much time to decide."
Jhaartael notices the elbowing from Lyndaran, but shrugs as things seem to be moving out of control. Hearing the dwarf correct Tamryn and indicate another room with a singular clerk, he tilts his head in the direction indicated, hoping Lyndaran will catch his meaning.
He then bellows a gruff grunt, and starts to move towards the room indicated as housing the clerk.
"I got it yes boss" replies Lyndaran to Akyan sohwing the purse so all can see it. When the dwarf talks about the balcony he turns to him.
"Why? Wanna go first? Are you offering to show us how to fly? hahahaha I bet that you will break the clobbed stones of the floor with your hard head!! hahaha Why are you so grumpy?" he says to the dwarf as he walks in the direction he is supposed to go to meet this clerk.

(Are any of the guards near the staircase?)
The guards are all where you see them on the map. There are two at the main staircase. The entrance to the secret stair is behind the fireplace.
(Lol somehow, i forgot about the map. )

Jhaartael the violently grumpy orc grunts "Hate this place. Every floor looks the same. Easy to get lost. Just ask for directions and we go then!"
