Once the guard is bound and gagged, Jhaartael will break gaze. He then, using minor illusion to give himself a gruff orc voice, grunts menacingly, "Come on. Enough of this foolery. Sign the book right Nogrith. Then bind him and let's get moving. This part of the test is done. The clerk passed. No need to tempt him into further mischief. We still have others to test."
"Alright. Let us know if you need help and we will try to hurry this up. Depending on how this goes, we may hold off on the fire, and just start it in whatever room you find the documents in. ...Actually that might be a better idea, then if luck is with us, they won't know if the documents were stolen or just lost to the flames."
(Going to wait to see the clerk's reaction to Jhaartael before taking another action.)
"Damn it" Mina curses as she finds her door locked. She looks over her shoulder and realizes Kyrsa is in the same situation. "When we get back to the farm, I think picking locks should be something everyone on our team knows how to do!"
To Akyan, So we have found ourselves in a pickle. We have locked doors and no way to get through them without a lot of noise. Any way you or Tamryn can come up and help? We're right past the double doors to the North of the staircase.
"We should be finished here soon. If we can't all go up there, then I can send either Tamryn or Lyndaran up there. If I go then we'll loose communication with the others."
"Shh" he says in his orc voice "No need to kill everyone. This has nothing to do with you. It was a test for him " he points to the clerk with his thumb over his shoulder. "If you don't make a flush you'll be alright. No one is going to blame you for anything. "
The clerk finishes depositing the money into the chest, and returns to the desk. Looking first at Jhaartael, then Tamryn, then the others, he waves his hand over the previous signature, which vanishes, and he hands the feather pen to Tamryn to sign again. "A test?" he asks, quietly. "I see."And he says nothing more.
She leans over, trying to peer through the keyhole.
(If she can see through it, she would like to teleport inside and then open the door to let Mina in as well.)
You can see a little through both keyholes, the door to the east, and to the west. Both appear to be offices with desks, no visible occupants. Which one does Kyrsa teleport into?
Kyrsa walks over to Mina and peers through the keyhole, "Well it looks like both rooms are much the same. Hopefully one of them will have keys or something." She looks up for a moment, "I'll teleport in and let you in afterwards."
She teleports into the eastern door, a rush of cold air bursts into life where she once stood and rushes in through the keyhole.
Kyrsa briefly traverses the aether and pops back into the material plane in an oddly shaped office. There is an unoccupied desk with a chair, and some filing cabinets, and also a steel box, bolted to the floor, with a thick, elaborate-looking lock through a hasp on the door.
From the interior of the office, she is able to easily unlock the door and allow Mina to enter as well.
Akyan is not convinced that the clerk has fallen for Jhaartael's trick. However, he doesn't say anything about it. Cutting his rope twice, he takes the rest of it over to the clerk and begins to tie him up. "We should still hurry up if we are going to complete this drill." He plays along with the high elf's excuse. "Besides, we are needed elsewhere." Once the clerk is tied and gagged, the drow slowly opens the door and looks out. If he sees no guards, he motions for the others to follow.
After helping tying up the clerk and make sure that the guard rope is still holding her tight, Lyndaran, without dropping his disguise will join the others.
Tamryn and Akyan both attempt to look through the door at the exact same moment, and end up knocking their heads together, and seeing stars. They have no idea if anyone is outside or not. They do it very quietly, though. Lyndaran has a bit more luck, and sees nothing.
I think Jhaartael may be one round behind everyone else. Is he doing anything special?
Jhaartael, the gruff orc, glowers at the clerk and then at the guard. "Keep your head down and your nose clean," he growls at the clerk. To the guard he says, "For the purposes of the test, remember what you have seen. You may be asked later."
He hopes that fear will bind the clerk's tongue.
He then follows the others out.
Stealth: 20
Once all are out and the door closed behind them, he asks, "Where are the others? What's the plan?"
Mina follows Kyrsa in the room and her heart sinks as she sees the heavy lock on the steel box. "I'm assuming what Nyblond needs is in here? Please tell me if I'm wrong Kyrsa."
Then to Akyan, Yes, we definitely need you to open some locks up here. Otherwise we are going to have to get one of the Serpents to help us and well, maybe Kyrsa can be intimidating, but it's not exactly my strong suit.
"Ta- really?!" Akyan barely stops himself from saying the other elf's name as he puts a hand to his head. He does this for two reasons. One, because that hurt, and Two to make sure his hat doesn't fall off and drop his orcish disguise. Rubbing his head through his hat, and giving Tamryn a sidelong glare, he quietly walks through the door. Sighing through his teeth, he whispers, "Which stair should we take? Our lockpicking skills are needed."
"We are on our way now. Are there any guards that we should be aware of?"
Third floor:
Mina cautiously tries the door on the east, and finds it locked. Kyrsa has a similar discovery on the west.

Kyrsa grits her teeth, why hadn't she thought of this possibility when they were arranging teams? "We might not have time to wait for them..."
