As they leave the conference room to prepare and Jhaartael approches Mina about training, she smiles at him, "Of course! Hopefully they have an area for range training? I'm sure they don't want us heading outside? Let's find out." She heads over to the nearest twin and asks, "My friend and I would like to work on our ranged skills a bit before we head out, do you have an area for that?"
As they start talking strategy, and Mina is asked to be part of the ranged team, she nods in agreement, though adds, "If you all need to engage the women and they don't respond well to the men in our group, please find a way to let me know and I'll sneak my way there to assist in that regards. Sometimes it is easier for scared women to talk to other women." she shrugs at this, looking at Kyrsa for a bit of confirmation.
Kyrsa nods to Mina, “That is true. These girls might not take well to more strange men entering the picture. They might not realize that we are trying to help them.” She looks to Akyan, “How comfortable are you with your ability to comfort these girls if needed? What will you do if they are frightened of you?” She looks to Tamryn as well before turning to Lyndaran and Jhaaratael. “If possible it would be best to win their trust without magical means. I must admit that I have little to offer in the way of charisma, but Mina and I have a bit of an advantage here given that we are women.”
Tamryn says, "Not to worry, Kyrsa. I'm well known for my touch with the ladies." He waggles his eyebrows.
"But seriously, I've been around women in similar situations before. I believe I can help them keep calm, but we should definitely call Mina over if they aren't responding well."
Jhaartael pulls his lip listening to Krysa. After a bit of reflection he says quietly "I agree, that we should avoid magical influence on the women if possible. Moreover, given what has been described by Spar, my ability with the weave will more likely be useful getting advantage on the slavers so that we may surgically eliminate them. For instance, my familiar could fly by and give us a more exact idea where all the guards are positioned. I can also make myself or a couple others invisible to aid in their getting close. If I am to be one of those to attack nearer to the wagons, I will likely be dispatching the foes with these," he says holding up his sword and bow, "rather than magic. As for frightening the women we are to save, I would prefer to act and then step to the back or shadows, visibly taking direction from Krysa and Mina. If they see females in charge of the action rescuing them, hopefully it will allay any fears of us being part of their rescue."
Kyrsa nods to Tamryn, "I see...yes." She looks to Jhaarteal, "Having your familiar as another set of eyes would be very beneficial." She takes notice of the raven for the first time. "Please do not take offense at my questions. I just think it is important for all of us to know what we are comfortable handling." She looks to Akyan. He was the one she really wanted an answer from.
Akyan looks at Kyrsa, "I would prefer not to have to talk to them, and if everyone does their part, I shouldn't have to. I'll just provide support for whoever can comfort them."
Tamryn nods his head. “That is an excellent point, Jhaartael. The women should be in charge. You also made me think, would you prefer to be with the snipers and have Mina with the infiltrators? I assume that you would have ranged spells. That way both women would be there in the back from the beginning.”
Mina looks to Kyrsa, "What do you think? I'm good either way, as I'm not exactly persuasive, but I just want to get moving on this. Makes my blood boil."
Kyrsa nods to Akyan, she'd expected as much. Then she turns to Mina and Tamryn, "If Jhaarteal is comfortable with that, I think it is a fine idea." She thinks for a moment before saying, "If Jhaarteal can make a few of us invisible, that would be extremely useful for getting up close to take out some of the guards. We'd need to drop the invisibility once we start trying to help the prisoners, but it would give us a significant advantage at the start of the mission."
((OOC I forgot, I can only make one person invisible at a time at this level, plus it is concentration))
"Hmmm," ponders Jhaartael, "Moving into position while invisible still runs the risk of making noise. Will we have time to get into position ahead of time to ambush the caravan? If so, I would suggest I could go with the one who is to be invisible and make them so when they are in place, then I could move to where ever you deem it best for me to be posted. I do have a ranged spell and this longbow, so attacking from range is quite acceptable. Do remember that the invisibility will drop as soon as you attack anyone. Akyan's telepathic link will be invaluable again as we negotiate the ambush in situ".
The time to depart has arrived. You leave the safe house at approximately 1 AM taking the secret tunnel into the warehouse next door, and marching through the unlit streets using only your darkvision. While the rest of you remain in darkness, Rigel approaches the gate guards and attempts to engage them in conversation. They cannot understand a word he says, but he captures their attention enough that the rest of you are able to slip out of the city undetected. Rigel follows soon after, apparently having convinced the guards that he is a drunken farmer returning to his cottage after a night on the town.
Balance Team Two takes the positions indicated on the map below. The slaver caravan will enter from the right (east) and move left (west) along the road. (Let me know the starting positions of your characters). When the first wagon reaches point L12 Spar will step out of the trees into the road and hail the driver. When the procession comes to a stop, Spar will give a signal for the attack to begin. "You'll know it when you see it,"he says, winking.
Jhaartael puts his finger below his raven's beak and appears to whisper something. It flies off to DD10 to alert Jhaartael when it sees something.
If requested, he touches Mina on the shoulder making her invisible.
He will then post up at S2 waiting for info from his raven to relay to Akyan and thus to the rest of the team (telepathically if possible). ((When the familiar informs him the caravan is approaching, he will enter the familiar's senses and relay what he sees to whomever he is assigned to communicate with - so that the entire team can be relatively equally informed)).
Lastly, just before drawing his bow, he sweeps his arm about himself so that an amber shell shimmers momentarily about him.
As they arrive at the destination, Jhaartael asks if Mina wants to turn invisible. Knowing that as soon as she attacks it will drop, she suggests that Kyrsa would probably make more sense so that Mina can shoot from a ranged position before she heads up to the wagon. If Kyrsa refuses, Mina will gladly accept.
After that is all decided, she takes up position at P18.
"Invisibility would be much appreciated. I am pretty competent with a bow, but Mina is probably better anyways," She will take up a position behind a tree on the same side of the road as Jhaarteal (W8), preparing to move as soon as she sees whatever this signal is... She wishes Spar would just tell them what the signal is, she's use to clear instructions. Regardless, she won't complain.
(I have placed Lyndaran and Tamryn. If they want to start somewhere else... well, tough ;) )
Jhaartael's familiar warns him that wagons are approaching from the east under cover of darkness, accompanied by men on foot. When the wizard uses the raven's eyes, he counts three wagons, and around two dozen men, counting the drivers of the wagons. The vehicles are covered, and he can see nothing of the occupants inside.
The wagons slowly advance westward along the road. The guards include humans, half-orcs, and a few tieflings. There appear to be two individuals, one human (labelled 000) and one half-orc (labelled XXX) who have authority over the others, as they shout orders, walking back and forth along the line of wagons and guards.
When all three wagons are enclosed by the trees, Spar steps out into the road, holding aloft his warhammer, which is glowing, casting light equivalent to a torch.
"Ho there! Where be ye going at this time o' night?" he says loudly. "No decent merchants be out haulin' goods at this hour. What sort of cargo have ye in there?"
Many of the guards snort and laugh when he says "decent", and a chorus of jeers answers him. The human boss looks Spar over and says, "Little dwarf, run along back to yer mountain mines, and leave us men alone. You have nothin' to do wit' this, and if you stay, you'll regret it." He signals to the men around him to surround the dwarf captain, and begins to turn away. Ten guards take their places on three sides of Spar, mocking and pointing, smacking the clubs and swords they are armed with against their bracers or bare hands, straining forward like foxhounds waiting for the huntmaster's bugle to release them.
"Very well," replies Nicco Feldspar,"Ye had yer chance. Prepare to meet your gods, vermin!" And with that, he holds the warhammer aloft, chanting something in dwarvish, as small arcs of electricity cascade around the hammer's head, and then flipping it over slams it down headfirst into the ground, casting destructive wave, and a deafening rumble of thunder fills your ears as a shockwave tears into the guards around him. Guards 2, 4, 7, and 9 are down, unmoving, and the rest of those surrounding him are gravely wounded. This, you assume, is the signal.
Roll initiative. The slavers will not act or react until next round. Each of you may post your first round actions now.

Akyan will make a telepathic link with Jhaartael and Spar. This way, all groups can contact each other.
He will take up a position at U19.
