“I am Sildar.” He reaches out to shake your hand, but winces and recoils from the pain in his broken ribs.
”I was supposed to play escort to this eccentric dwarf called Gundren. I had some business in Phandalin, so it was supposed to be some easy money. He was supposed to meet up with some other folks back in Neverwinter, but he seemed eager to be on his way, so I obliged.
Thats when the Cragmaw ambushed us... he was taken along with all of our supplies to a place called Cragmaw Castle. I need to get to Phandalin so I can let my superiors know what’s happened. Will you take me there? If it’s out of your way, I can pay.”
he takes the bread and eats slowly, attempting to nurse his wounds.
Meleager looks into the Klarg's chests, with an ear hearing the man's speech.
ooc: @DM: please tell me what I find opening the chest
Meleager is not really convinced by the whole story
Surely he must tell us all he knows, until I can see it clearly
Indeed, unsure what to do, he goes whispering to the others (not MItsu who is close to Sildar):
Guys, mh...dunno, not really convinced until he says it all, let's test him
he talk to Sildar:
Sooo...Siiildar...I am sorry for bad treatment. We must know: when you last saw him, was Gundren alive? what was he taking with him or with you? Apart from the poor horses, sure.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Stonegrin does not join the others right away after clearing the supplies from Klargs area. He instead heads into the cave with the wolves and sits across from them, handaxe across his legs in case the Goblins decide to move against him. He sat staring at them, gauging their demeanor. He had fed them, and he would release them, but not if it meant them turning on him or his party.
OOC: Insight or Animal handling (if animal handling add 2 to the roll) to gauge whether the wolves would turn on me if i were to release them: 19
Gundren had two brothers, Tharden, and Nundro. They recently located an entrance to the long-lost Wave Echo Cave, site of the Phandelvers pact.
More than five hundred years ago, clans of dwarves and gnomes made an agreement known as the Phandelver’s Pact, by which they would share a rich mine in a wondrous cavern known as Wave Echo Cave. In addition to its mineral wealth, the mine contained great magical power. Human spellcasters allied themselves with the dwarves and gnomes to channel and bind that energy into a great forge (called the Forge of Spells), where magic items could be crafted. Times were good, and the nearby human town of Phandalin (pronounced fan-duh-lin) prospered as well. But then disaster struck when orcs swept through the North and laid waste to all in their path.
A powerful force of orcs reinforced by evil mercenary wizards attacked Wave Echo Cave to seize its riches and magic treasures. Human wizards fought alongside their dwarf and gnome allies to defend the Forge of Spells, and the ensuing spell battle destroyed much of the cavern. Few survived the cave-ins and tremors, and the location of Wave Echo Cave was lost.
Klarg, the bugbear who you defeated, had orders to waylay Gundren. I heard from the goblins that the Black Spider sent word that the dwarf was to be brought to him. I doesn’t know who or what the Black Spider is, but it cannot be good.
Gundren had a map showing the secret location of Wave Echo Cave, but the goblins took it when they captured him. I believe that Klarg sent the map and the dwarf to the chief of the Cragmaws at a place called Cragmaw Castle.
i don’t know where that might be, but he someone in Phandalin might know.
I was on my way to make contact in Phandalin with a human wizard named Iarno Albrek. The wizard traveled to the town two months ago to establish order there. After the Lords’ Alliance received no word from Iarno, I decided to investigate.”
Stonegrin nods in respect and walks towards the wolves, cautious, but trusting. He then began to loosen their binding so as to free them back into the wild from whence they came.
Meleager's head is aching from getting all this information. Oh my
Noooowww all this mayhem makes sense! From what I understand somebody betrayed Gundren unless he is drunk or a fool or talked too much.
I mean, How long do you know Gundren? Who may have known about all this story? You know, somebody must have told this fellow black spider Gundren had the map!
The wolves run out from the cave mouth and one stops to look back at you, Stonegrin. It then dashed out, disappearing into the forest... but you could almost swear it winked at you.
I’ve only met Gundren recently. I’m not entirely sure who may have caught wind of his discovery, but I think we’ll be able to find more answers when we reach Phandalin.”
“the Lords’ Alliance, a group of allied political powers concerned with mutual security and prosperity. Members of the order ensure the safety of cities and other settlements by proactively eliminating threats by any means, while bringing honor and glory to their leaders and homelands.”
Stonegrin's lips turn up slightly before he gathers himself and walks out of the mouth of the cave himself, joining the others. "Whats this I hear about the Lord's Alliance lads? How are you doing, good to travel?" he says looking Sildar over
“If you don’t mind I’d rather travel in the cart. I’m hurting badly, and I could use some rest. If we leave now we could make it all the way to Phandalin by dusk.”
"Well lads, i've no further business 'ere so how about we get a move on?" Stonegrin liked the idea of getting to Phandalin by dusk because it meant he could grab a bite to eat and an ale before heading off to bed.
In all of nearly fifty years I've never been so humbled by a defeat so humiliating as a goblin ambush... I suppose my hubris got the best of me. Let that be a lesson to you all. I must have let my place of honor in the famous griffon cavalry of the great city of Waterdeep go to my head.
I'm not entirely certain I've seen that symbol before, but I'm certain someone will point you in the right direction when we reach Phandalin.

You should have enough experience to advance to level 2! Good job, great teamwork and RP.
"Don't worry about it lad, tis hubris that begins so many great stories. I am interested to hear 'bout this Griffon Calvary though, you ride the magical beasts?"
"Of course!" He then winks in response to Stonegrin. He chuckles again, but this time winces,. Erupting into a coughing fit, he steadies himself on the cart, resting.
“I am Sildar.” He reaches out to shake your hand, but winces and recoils from the pain in his broken ribs.

Mitsu frowns.
"Gundren?" he asks.
"We are...looking to him also!"
And that's all I have to say about that.

The wolves are not aggressive toward Stonegrin.

And after some seconds of silence:
What's the Lord's Alliance anyway?

Meleager doesn't really trust the guy, maybe he is just too slow.
During the travel, he also asks:
WHat about these chests, have ever seen a blue sign like this?
Showing the sing on the klarg's chests

"If you want, I could try to ease your suffering with a bit of magic" Stonegrin says to Sildar.
"Thank you. I am grateful you would offer me such hospitable treatment."
