The tree buckles from the second attack, stumbling 5ft back, the activation of the fire rune sends scorched vines and flaming wood shrapnel catching across the tree dealing more damage as it starts to spread from the impact point. All across the canopy of this tree the embers fly forming a web of burning patter which for a moment take on the form of dozens of manacles each holding on to a different branch, all inter connected, but the tree holds steadfast, flexing its weight and breaking those bonds before they fully finish forming.
With the first tree falling Neferox looks around and sees Vin restrained by the vines. She rushes over and attempts to free Vin from the vines. Tearing them apart with her teeth.
Vin says "Thank's Nef. I'll get the big tree then."
Vin casts Bonfire on the other big tree. DC 16 Dex Save or take 9 fire damage. It will also need to repeat this is they end their turn on the spot it's summoned.
Órga, restrained again, greatly wounded and frantic, lashes out at their restrainer with the kitty klaws of kaos!! Órga gets a 10 to their attack roll for 5 damage if it hits...
Gewyn gives up his vain struggle against the grip of the vines. Instead he looks at the vine blight serving as their source and with his voice more serious than before, says "I mean it. Keep your vines to yourself."
Muir becomes filled with anger that the trees who seemed to acknowledge his words did not stop fighting or answer. Muir sees Sam engaging the Awakened Tree. A rush of sadness sweeps over Muir knowing that someone or something has awakened them and that he must destroy them with his lone fire spell. Muir opens his hand, speaks in druidic and hurls a bolt of flames at the Awakened Tree.
The fire that Muir hurls, flies past the Large tree and begins smouldering in the ground around 5ft behind it, beginning to catch flame on the vegetation surrounding it.
The final remaining tree, having been pushed 5ft back from Sam and also having a bonfire lit under it's ass decides to stretch it's roots and move as far as it can north facing Vin and attacking in retaliation. It ruthlessly slams the boy with the full force of its tremendous weight, the heat from Vins bonfire still smouldering in it's trunk as the smell of burning wood is followed by the sick crunch of its attack, which hits Vin Square on.
Similarly enraged, Iver sees the Vine Blight in front of him strike down Orga, he watches along with the rest of the group as Orga's body crumples to the ground and loses structure descending into a pile of dust. Iver takes his chance and runs through the Vine blight dealing some damage but not enough to kill the thing as it turns now to face it's next victim.
In response to Gewyn's magically infused suggestion, the vine blight releases everyone within its grasp, which at this point is only Gewyn anyway, it also hisses out in response, "My apologies, this is all dreadfully rude of me, really.." before it retracts its vines from the ground releasing the grasping roots within its 15ft surroundings and it lays down on the floor still, becoming completely and utterly indistinguishable from the forest floor around it.
Elthana, though sad to see the lion disappear, moves to his vacant spot to flank the blight with Iver. She goes to give it a right jab, side kick, then a blow from above...
Attack: 16 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
Attack: 17 Damage: 10
Attack: 22 Damage: 10
If the first or second attack take out the blight, she will move to the tree and attack it. (40 ft total movement)
"Órga!!!" Sams screams out with a (non) Barbarian Yawp and rushes to hit, destroy and kindle-ie the first thing he can reach! Movie about 20 feet west (and just a wee bit north) Sam moves to what he believes is the backside of the tree, flanking it with Vin, before letting loose with a huge swing of his maul... (Attack: 14 Damage: 10 becomes 13 with a preroll from Great Weapon Master. Then becomes 16 with Giant's Might additional 1d6 I almost forgot.)
If Sam successfully hits the tree with the maul, the tree is moved fire feet south (Crusher feat) so it is once again back atop Vin's fire. Letting one hand off his maul, Sam then steps up and attempts to grapple the tree, holding it there in the fire! The tree must be a (*sigh*) 11 with a strength or dexterity check or be grappled...
((If Sam's first strike didn't successfully hit and move the tree then Sam will swing maul again... let me know and I will do the rolls.))
The big tree slams down on top of Vin. The young boy seemingly no match for the giant branches that try to crush them into the ground. The tree gets a direct hit on the boy smashing them into the ground and to most it would be a crippling blow but for Vin an eerie field of shadowy energy seems to act as a barrier to the slam. It severely lessens the impact but even this protective magic wasn't enough to fully stop the blow as it breaks through and hits Vin down across the shoulder and bringing him to his knee from the weight alone.
"Aaaagghh." He cries in pain as he tries to get out from under its weight. Nef had just finished ripping the vines holding him when the vines seem to suddenly give up and the vine form very politely apologized.
Nef however seems to radiate with rage as they suddenly leap at the being that hurt vine with a ferocity no sane wolf could show. She slams her whole body into the tree with mouth agape a bit too far giving her an unnaturally deranged look as her maw slams into the tree tearing into it. She does however get her teeth stuck in the bark and tree like sinew and fiber inside making it difficult to do anything else after beyond freeing her teeth from the being.
Attack Bite: Nat 20 for 27. 24 piercing damage
Attack Bite: 11
Vin seems fine but the blow makes it hard for him to quickly focus. Hes definitely going to have a nasty bruise across his shoulder where it hit. He does see Nef being so ferocious and he looks a bit worried but helps her out sending two blasts of pure magical energy. The two beams of white light careening outwards towards the big tree thing as he tries to blast chucks of it apart.
Attack eldrich blast bolt 1: 14 to hit for 6 force damage.
Attack eldrich blast bolt 2: 21 to hit for 7 force damage.
The tree being takes 14 more fire damage when Sam moves it into the fire again if it fails the DC 16 dex save.
Neferox takes down the tree with her attack, the buckled bark and splintered branches providing her enough leverage to tear the beings form to shrapnel in front of everyone, between Elthana's flurry of attacks and Vin's blasts, which he directs at the last remaining blight, (having no other enemies around any longer) the two handily incapacitate the creature leaving it looking more like shredded inanimate ribbons than anything recognisable...
The sudden rush of movement stops, combat seemingly over, the eerie silence of the forest creeps back into ones ears all too quickly, broken only by the two fires nearby which promptly begin to spread.
Muir watching the fire he started spread quickly draws the water out of the dead blights and trees they slayed and casts shape water to put out the fire.
As he continuously does this to put out the fire he yells to the others "There was a deer watching the fight. It ran that way!"
Sam takes a deep breath and lets out a loud sigh at the end of combat. He looks around at the others and then looks to where another had been, but Órga is gone. Not even a body left to grieve. There had seemed to be a... spark? Sam dips a hand down into the bag he not so long ago (though seemingly forever ago) took off the tiny Faery creature and begins to grab hold or another
"There was a deer watching the fight. It ran that way!"
Sam stops and turns to look first to Muir and then in the direction that he is indicating. "Neferox?" Sam calls out, lifting his maul once more. "Can you bring us to the Not-Deer? And avoid more of... these?"
Muir points out the direction north north-west, heading directly to the very top of the known forest, Neferox once again picks up the scent quickly and begins following it.
Elthana looks to her new team, "Everyone alright? We can continue on?" barring no ones objections, she follows Neferox in the direction Muir pointed out. As she gets near Muir, she quietly says, "Good thing you can do more than talk to trees, glad your eyesight is keen." and without looking at him, she continues on. Muir can't tell if she is kidding him or not.
The large black hound continues to tear at the tree for a time until Muir mentions seeing a deer. They look at the elephant man with blazing red eyes that show nothing but barely retrained fury. Her fur bristled and agitated almost dancing in unnatural ways that seem disturbing. As Muir points she is about to leap in that direction as a snarl on her face and a low growl of anger is directed in that direction. However, before she can rush off Vin run to put a hand on her back. "Nef, stay together. I'm okay really. Just a sore shoulder." (10 on deception check) for those watching him its likely they can see he's hiding the pain in his shoulder as he uses that arm to pet her and calm her down. Nef for her part is looking forward in the direction of the deer that fled and hasn't noticed the pain in his arm yet.
She seems angry in the extreme but at Vin's touch it seems to lessen in ways that are hard to describe. She heads over to the area Muir said he saw the deer and sniffs the air and ground. She growls having caught the scent of something and makes her way not towards the direction the deer that was seen fleeing and makes her way deeper into the forest. She seems determined and highly focused like an arrow locked onto a target filled with rage to be unleashed on anything that dares to get in her way. She doesn't stop anyone following her as Vin follows behind her as well looking very nervous. As Elthana asks abotu everyone and how they are Vin says "I'm fine. we should keep going. Hopefully it can't arrange anything else like this ambush while we chase it."
Gewyn picks himself free of the pile of vines on the ground around him and wipes a bloody lip as he approaches Elthana. "Yes, in the interest of brevity and avoiding more unnecessary tangles, we should press pursuit now. I'd like to end this before we lose the light." With a bold stride he moves forward, but turns his ankle on a loose stone, stumbles, and then walks it off steeling his expression to hide his pain
As the group follow Neferox's nose, they walk for another half hour at least, heading north and finally out of the thickest parts of the forest. Most of the group find familiarity on the western edge as you can all see the dying light through the edge of the treeline to the west. Neferox stops suddenly and sits patiently, in front of you all is a small muddy clearing covered in hoof prints, around the clearing several of the crazed deer similar to those met before are standing amongst the trees looking inward, their mouths foaming, their eyes bloodshot and yellowed in the centers, some bare wounds that should kill any normal deer, they notice the parties arrival but make no move to attack...yet.

Neferox breaks Vin out handily, and the bonfire's flaming damage takes hold of the tree all too quickly.
The Vine blight restraining Órga attacks at him with powerful vine strikes, splitting skin and leaving wounds which oddly do not bleed.
Before they can even let out a roar, or a yelp of pain, the once majestic Órga is killed and vanished out of existence…
Gewyn gives up his vain struggle against the grip of the vines. Instead he looks at the vine blight serving as their source and with his voice more serious than before, says "I mean it. Keep your vines to yourself."

Upon seeing them, Gewyn immediately stops in his tracks and scans the area for the not-deer leading them, expecting an ambush at any moment.
