+2 from Str for a melee weapon and +2 from proficiency of simple weapons? So crossbow would be Dex bonus if any and +2. Spell ranged would be Wis bonus? Damage bonus is just the modifier from the attribute?
Yes that is correct Adding your modifier plus proficiency gets you the attack modifier. You can see it on the character sheet. Its a +4 for mace attack.
Dex takes a quick look to the sides to make sure nothing is closing in that is unseen. Seeing nothing more pressing he remembers the words of an old weapon master he trained with. "Yeh gotta win the fight before you can do anything else useful."
Faking a smash with his shield toward the creature to parry the missed stab from the trident, Dex steps forward and takes a swing with his mace, hoping to finish the creature off.
Dex staggers, seriously injured as the creature attacks. Knowing to turn and run is certainly fatal, he calls on his mortal internal strength and mutters a prayer to Avandra and grunts as he attacks the creature. Healing will have to wait until this abomination is put down.

Dex smashes with his shield to distract the creature and catches it in the lower jaw with a swing from his mace. The creatures head snaps back as it falls motionless to the ground. Dex drops to one knee as he looks around, preparing to cast a curing spell on himself.
He leans his mace against his kneeling leg. Looking around he nods to his unknown partner confirming she is uninjured. He takes in the battlefield and looks to see what other foes are standing and if there are other villagers that can be helped. Before standing he touches his cheek, bows briefly and chants in Dwarvish, "Findal ol rrin" and cast a cure wounds spell on himself before moving to another location.

Edit: I forgot to add the bonus proficiency of disciple of life but since its over the current damage it won't make a difference here.
Ridani pulls out her dagger "The name is Ridani, now that was not what I expected when relaxing at the beach" The other attackers have moved on deeper into town. You see town's people corpses strewn about the beach. The unfortunate ones who could not outrun their attackers. A grizzled old shark hunter runs to you "We gotta leave. Let's head to the east shore where there are boats docked"
Dex looks to Ridani "Dex'Tar Battlehammers, but everyone calls me Dex." Looking to the shark hunter, "What about the others? The townsfolks? Can we rescue some of them?"
Dex looks toward the town trying to calculate if a rescue mission is complete folly or if there is a chance to save some of the people or take back the town.
Are there any injured that appear to be able to be stabilized or saved? If not he will reluctanly go with the shark hunter unless there is a decent chance of success in the town.

Some weird stuff with the site today, hover on the roll and it shows 3d6 but is clearly 1d20+3 on my end. Edit again, I think this is re-rolling on the edit since it is now totally different than before. This is really a test if it is doing that probably best if I either shut up or use a separate post over using edit to add after.
OK, it apparently it does re-roll on edit to add. I didn't think it did that from the ones earlier but I won't use edits any more. The inital score was a 16 modified but when I hovered on the result it showed 3d6 with a total of 8 or something. Not sure what is up with the die roller but when I brought the char sheet up earlier it did exist until I did a reload so who knows?
I will do rolls in a separate post from here on to keep it clean or at least add anything in a follow up. Still learning this forum a bit, its handy as hell but has some quirks for sure.
The ground shudder beneath your feet and you notice this land is sinking. Soon the isle will be under water. You are currently standing at P1. You see flocks of people rushing to the east shore and some towards the north. Where would you like to go?
Dex quickly thinks to himself, "if the ground is sinking we need a boat." He then mental slaps himself for the obvious idea.
He looks to Ridani and yells "follow the shark hunter! Make for the east docks!" He then runs toward the east docks trying to make the boat between P8 and P4. He will look for anyone along the way but the chances look grim and if the entire ground is disappearing under the sea something not natural is at play.

"I am also a divine conduit and pray to Avandra. I have healed after the initial fray but I will help." Dex looks for the closest creature to the boarding point and starts an incantation of his own.
Picking one of the beafier creatures near the boarding dock or planks dex holds his holy amulet and points to the creature. "Estver goldhiem encesti!" A brilliant light streaks from the amulet to the creature he has pointed at. The light streaks toward the creature....

Wow nice roll! That's a hit.
Ridani throws her dagger at the Sahuagin
Attack: 22 Damage: 5
The Sahuagin attacks you again with its trident
Attack: 23 Damage: 9
The dagger sinks deep into the flesh of the Sahuagin. The pain caused it to miss its attack
Its your turn now.

Attack: 8 Damage: 6
Dex missed his attack
Ridani unsheathes her longsword and attack in one smooth strike
Attack: 10 Damage: 2
She stumbles on the sand and misses
The Sahuagin plants his trident in the sand and attacks you 2x with its claws and bite
Attack: 12 Damage: 2
Attack: 5 Damage: 3
Dex takes 10 damage and is quite injured
The Sahuagin is also quite injured
Its your turn

Attack: 15 Damage: 8
You kill the Sahuagin. You can describe how you do it.
