With some information in hand, you make your way back toward the city of Erdelun. The walk is quiet as you ponder and try to make sense of the information you have. The fifteen minutes it takes to return to the city feels like no time at all.
{{So, investigation trio, are we entering the city to look for the library duo, or are we going straight to the Ranger's Conclave? Because the library duo is still in the library. They are just about finished with the information I outlined.}}
With the city nearing, you are faced with a decision: go into the city to get Dvark and Karm, or return directly to the conclave. You have roughly another fifteen minutes to half an hour to the time the First Ranger gave you.
{{If you get Dvark and Karm, Eremoz will have to log his weapon. The guard on the gate will offer to take the weapon for safekeeping or take impressions of the weapon. Taking the impressions will take a while as you will be required to swing your weapon in various ways to a soft clay-like substance where the impressions of your swings will be taken for reference in case there is a crime in the city. If you don't want to, we don't have to play out the same conversation that Karm and Dvark had with the city guards.}}
{{However, entering the city you can get to the Annex easily enough with directions from the city guards. It is a cathedral-like structure constructed with white marble and blue roof tiles. Cob, Drexon, and Eremoz can easily spot Dvark and Karm hunching over a pile of books.}}
What if Cob hands his weapons to Eremoz and then flies into the city to grab Dvark and Karm. Meanwhile Drexon and Eremoz could then make the ranger conclave meeting on time and find out where they should search. They could then wait a few minutes until Cob comes back with Dvark and Karm. Then they all head off to check out their search area.
You enter the gate of Erdelun and receive a thorough pat down despite the lack of visible weapons on your person. A query about the library to the city guard brings you to the south side of the Old Town District. Standing before you is a cathedral constructed from white marble with blue roof tiles. Entering the building, you see that it is quiet and empty. There are no people in sight, but you can hear Dvark and Karm discussing something somewhere in the library. It is easy enough to find them.
Drexon and Eremoz
After taking Cob's equipment, you make your way back to the Ranger's Conclave. The meeting hall is quite packed with people. You can see several commoners sitting on the benches and chairs, waiting for the briefing to start. Several rangers with a lighter shade of moss green shade sit among the crowd, mingling and talking. The First Ranger is standing near the podium in the middle of the hall with a person you haven't seen before. The new person is dressed as the First Ranger, with the same moss-green cloak as the First Ranger's draped over the left side of his body. He stands almost twice as tall as the First Ranger and is on the heavier side. His arm is almost as big as the First Ranger's head, completely packed with muscles. A large warhammer that seems to have been made from a block of an old anvil is strapped to his back, looking dubiously light on his person.
"Alright, settle down," Yntar says. "We'll wait for a couple more people and we'll start the briefing. Those of you who just came in, grab a seat."
Cob, spotting Dvark and Karm in deep discussion in the library can't resist. While holding his fiddle in one hand, the weapon the city guards should really have been concerned about, with this free hand he waves his fingers like he's playing a piano.
Suddenly a light snow shower falls down over Dvark and Karm. Cob can't help but let out a laugh. Even if it doesn't entertain anyone else, he's amused by the sudden appearance of snow in the library.
He then quickly goes over to join the pair, filling them in on the missing children, the events at the carnival/circus and where Drexon and Eremoz are.
Drexon heads across to find five empty seats together, if such exist, and sits down ready to listen.
Whilst he waits for the others to turn up and the briefing to start, he looks around those gathered there in case someone matches the description given to them by Dastan. If those responsible are disappointed that no-one had turned over the Magisterium yet, they may well tag along with the search and lay some more false trails.
Drexon, as you look around to gauge the volunteers, you find that they are merely concerned people who want to help. You can see farmers, artisans, shopkeepers, and even some maids. You can see neither the city guards nor the nobles of Erdelun anywhere around. No one around matches the description that Dastan gave.
"found a lead on the plague but nothing concrete on the beast. Just that there was a lot of time magic being thrown around during the war. Also I think Jiminy is called the Braveheart. He's a god." Dvark blurts out before noticing that the other two havnt come with Cob. "I'll guess by your chipperness the others arent in danger? how did things go for you three?"
"A god?" Cob asks. "I'm feeling even smaller than normal. You think Jiminy Braveheart knew we'd come looking for his carriage?"
He nods towards the entrance.
"Drex and Mozzie are back at the Ranger's camp. This missing kid thing is a lot worse than just one lost child. Someone or something is taking them, and maybe even trying to set the blame on someone else. We're joining a search pretty quick. I came to bring you two along, or at least let you know what we're doing. It might not help us get back to our time but these people need help now."
If Dvark and Karm are going to join them, Cob leads them back to the ranger enclave. If not, he'll tell them they'll see them later back at the inn and will head to the enclave by himself.
{{I'm waiting for Karm to respond, but perhaps we'll just move forward.}}
Drexon and Eremoz
"Alright, people," Yntar calls after a couple more people enter the hall. "We know why we're here. Five children have gone missing in the past two months and we've been combing the land around Erdelun for the past two weeks. Five days ago we discovered a trail from the location where the fifth child disappeared. We'll follow that trail today and hopefully find some more clues on what happened to the children.
"So far, we have followed the trail about an hour south of Faete's Grove before it split into seven. For the past three days, we have followed four through the end. Two trails return back toward Erdelun; one to the east gate and the other to Ravenhills. One leads further south for a couple of hours before ending near Ally River where the Gators are. The other one leads southeast for about half a day into a bear cave. The three remaining trails are what we are going to follow. One leads southwest, one leads west, and one leads east.
"That leaves us with three. Hopefully, with this many people, we can follow this to the end and find the children. We have enough people for three groups with our new friends. Split up to your team. As usual, my rangers and I will accompany you for your safety. We'll walk to the split point and split up there. Just in case the kidnappers left behind more surprises, we will equip some of you with armor. We were lucky that Ally River had so many Gators that we decided to take a couple and render them into armor. We have seven for those who want them.
"Any question so far?"
Cob, Dvark, and Karm
The three of you make your way out of the Annex with haste. As you exit the building, Dvark, you notice Librarian Elbaf arguing with another librarian. You can see that this other librarian is a middle-aged man with a pale complexion and shoulder-length blonde hair. He is wearing an ensemble quite different than Elbaf. Instead of the long blue tunic that Elbaf wore, the man wore a dapper dark blue suit. An overcoat with a large symbol of the Archive of Ages on the back was draped loosely on his shoulder, a little ostentatious compared to his co-librarian. You are far enough that can't hear what they are arguing about, but they seem to be disagreeing with each other before the man storms off behind a shelf and into a cordoned area of the Annex.
With Cob's guidance, you quickly make your way to the Ranger's Conclave through the east gate to get Karm's hook from the city guard. You arrive just as Yntar finished his briefing.
{{You can roll a d4 for me to determine which trail you will be assigned to, or discuss which trail you want to follow. If you want to roll, on a 1, you get southwest; On a 2, you get west; On a 3, you get east; You can reroll on a 4.}}
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
{{Yes, im back, sorry for my absence. I quite enjoyed the timeout, but not because the game was boring. I just had a decent amount of stuff going on and it was nice not having to worry about this game. But now i should be back at full capacity}}
"All sounds reasonable to me", Drexon says as he spots the other's arriving.
"Let's go", he says to Eremoz and then gets up from his seat and makes his way over to them.
"You made it, good timing", he says to Cob, Dvark and Karm.
"Looks like we will be trekking with this lot South for an hour, then splitting up. You two get what you needed", he says in case they missed that bit, with the question then directed at Dvark and Karm.

Eremoz gives them a nod. “Thank you for the help.”
"Aye, that sounds like a plan, let's go and update the others and go hunting", Drexon says and starts walking back to town.

Eremoz takes Cob’s weapons and heads to the meeting with Drexon.
