You stop trying to use the shovels as a way to get this crate out of the ground. You all stand around looking at the second crate wondering if you need to drag it oit of the hole or not
At the fire Sorrow removes the prisoner from the fire and doses his clothing with water Asking questions again he responds by telling you the same information as before. He adds thaty he does not know of any children being taken as far he is aware.

Nods vigorously in agreement with Tail Feathers. (Wonders if this is a cellar door? A shipping crate?) As Sorrow removes the bandit from the fire, Millwater's face relaxes. "Whew, I thought Sorrow was gonna roast him without gutting him first. I wouldn't want to eat that!" Realizes he is too small to help with the bigger crate, impressed watching Festoon dicker with tools on the chest, he picks up his supplies. "I'm gonna pack up for the journey."
Grabbing the bandits cookware, he checks to see if some of them will stack into his own. Carefully packing everything into a poke with his backpack, to hang from the shovel. He then dismantles the 4 man tent and packs it up, tying it around the pack. (Damn, this thing weights as much as I do.)

Festoon tries to access the interior of the lower crate without them struggling to raise it out of the ground. Pulling out a little serrated saw, he gets to work.

“Can you tell me the difference between a witch and a wizard?" "Sure, a wizard is what they call you when they want to hire you, and a witch is what they call you when they're getting ready to run you out of town.” SunWolf replied ― Barbara Hambly, The Witches of Wenshar
Millwater looks up and notices the sun has reached it's zenith. He recites Amuanator's blessings prayer.
Unsatisfied with the pack, finding it's weight lopsided. Millwater completely unpacks everything, and reexamines the bandit's gear. Then undoing the tents straps, unfolding it. He dismantles another tent and lays it on the 4 man tent. The size matches! If you fold the big tent over the little. He then proceeds to dismantle all the tents, the spikes and rope. "MEW!" He runs to Sorrow with his findings.
The diminutive cat tugs on Sorrow's sleeve "I think I found something, but master always said I'm most excellent at coming to the wrong conclusion. The bandit's gear, while dirty its masterful!." He points with his paw "see how the pots and pans stack neatly, it took me years of trail and error to get enough to stack. And the tents, they fold up together as if a gnomish taylor had sown it. The seams are offset so they don't bulk! This kind of gear I only seen in waterdeep, the city of temples. I think they got it from an outfitter, nobles use them for outfitting big game hunts."
Vee wipes his brow, then waits to see if Festoon has any troubles cutting into the crate. He looks to Tail and asks if he managed to open the other one and if so, what was so valuable or important that it needed buried? He too shuts out the screams from the prisoner, but it's obvious he's torn between saying something and seeing justice done.
Sorrow. nods at the prisoner then gags him again. 'Think on this a bit. Who else from town was involved in this little scheme? Why would the mayor try to pull such a thing? And how many others of you were involved?'
She looks at Mill. 'Show me." As she follows the kit to the pile of gear, she'll shake her head ruefully and mutter (more to herself but not exactly covering it up either) ##too busy looking at the trees to see the forest##
You all stand around the hole as you watch Festoon work on the crate. He soon tells you that the method he was using is not working on this crate but he does believes that one can dig out the front hasp and open the crate by reaching down to open it. Standing on the lid would make opening it quite difficult. Festoon take one of the shovels and starts to dig in two places where the latches are so it would be able to be opened. It takes him about ten minutes to get the laches cleared to open the crate in the hole. He climbs out off the hole after opening the latches so the lid can be opened. (I will need to know who is opening the crate.)
During this time Tail feathers looks at the crate that was pulled from the hole. She sees that it has no lock. She can tell that by opening the latches the crate can be opened easily. Does she open this crate?
As Sorrow keeps asking the captive she gets only muffled responses as he is unable to take the gag out. During Sorrows questioning he just continues to shake his head back and forth. Is he telling her no or is just trying to dislodge the gag?
I will need investigation checks from everyone around the crates. those opening the crate4s I need a investigation or perception check (which ever is better)
When Festoon pops the latches, Vee will ask if the latches have holes that go all the way thru. If they do, he'll hand down some rope to thread thru each latch-enough to tie a knot in the end after going thru the latch and long enough to hand back up with some slack in it. Once Festoon is out of the hole, Vee will motion everyone away from what would be the front of the box/hole and attempt to open the lid by pulling on the ropes.
If the latches have no holes, then he'll try to see who has the longer arms (other than Sorrow and Azurwrath) to find out if they can reach the box and lift the lid.
Sorrow shakes her head and mutters what must be a curse ## chort **** shche pomre! ## as the prisoner continues to make noises behind the gag. She'll look back at him and snarl 'I SAID think on those questions-I'll be back for you shortly you nutless wonder'.
She'll look over the tents, equipment and camping gear, pulling out her own items to do a comparison. Noticing the cooking gear does stack better, but that the only real difference between the shelters is that the leaders is larger, and they seem to fold together nicely she'll give a couple nods at it all. "Good eye, Mill. When some of the others are free from playing in the dirt, maybe grab one or two to help strip this site down and pack it all up-try to distribute the loads evenly so that no one person is burdened with too much.'
She'll pull Azurwrath aside. In Draconic ^^Have you ever heard of the practice of coating a head in mud or clay, then slow baking it til the mud is dry to preserve the head? I'm not sure if the riverbank would give any clay to cover the heads, but I sort of recall our old shaman trying to do that...If you have, let's get a goodly amount of clay and see what we can do about keeping the heads rather than the whole bodies as our evidence of the culpability of all these deaders.^^
She then walks back to the prisoner and pulls him closer to the fire again, stroking his hair and making child soothing noises at him. She'll cluck her tongue at him and remove the gag...
Millwater looks up from the tied up bundle of tents, wiping his brow he looks at each companion busy at a task. (This will be easier to pack up next time) He thinks.
The first crate is opened nothing bad happens but everyone pauses for that few seconds waiting for a monster or something to jump out at the party. The few seconds pass and then you all look inside the crate. Inside you find a few bolts of colorful cloths that are clearly meant to be sold to the town tailor. Along with the few yards of linen you find a couple small chests. The keys are with them so you open the chests. There are five in total. No matter in which order you use to open them the first four are empty. The fifth how ever holds some items that seem pale. Looking closer you see several severed fingers inside. I will need a insight check for the fifth chest
Leaving the opened crate you go back to the larger crate. You are able to connect the two hasps of the crate and rig up a way to open the crate without puttying anyone in danger. Once everyone is standing behind the one pulling the rope the crate is opened. One again everyone freezes and waits a few seconds for something to again pop put of the crate and hole to attack them. When this fails to happen everyone lets out their breaths that they did not realize they were holding. You all look around at each other wondering who will step forward to peer into the crate. Soon you all begin to move and you peer down into the crate. Inside this crate you find a mixture of items. Several small clay pots hold a wide verity of spices. Larger casks hold flour, cheese, apples and dates. There are also tools as well as other common goods inside this crate. It does not take long for you to understand this crate is one of the crates the townsfolk were looking forward to coming into their village.

He'll visibly jerk when Sorrow roars and he hears the sound of her running, then turn to see what's got her unders in a twist.
Sorrow-some small sound or movement catching her attention-roars ##BARVADA!!!## as she races after the rolling captive. She is only a half step behind the rolling prisoner when he rolls over the bank and into the running water, being pulled under in the current as his appendages were still tied behind him and to the pole...Growling and cursing (in ABYSALL) in anger she smacks her head as she sees him go under and not return.
Satisfied with the balance of his poke. Millwater sets about creating drags for the town's supplies. (The forked timbers at the fire would make 2 drags) He thinks, and starts chopping up unnecessary weight off the forks. Begins purring after getting into the work.
A torrent of hellish noise turns his attention to Sorrow's back. Seeing the trouble the bandit gotten himself, stifles a giggle and says "if he gets right with the Gods, he will have one hellva story to tell his grandchildren"

"Why bury the supplies they stole?" It felt like something else was going on, or possibly another group would be coming along to take them. Moving over to examine the last chest, Tail Feathers starts to chuckle. "It would not be a story I would want to tell any children, though a good pub story of how battle hardened he was in his youth."
Glancing at Tail Feathers, Vee shrugs. ‘That’s a valid point-why would you feel the need to bury your loot in such an obvious manner? It would make more sense to hide it more covertly, even if there’s to be a transfer of ownership. Or better yet, why did they apparently split the shipments?’
Hearing the very harsh, hellish sounds coming from Sorrow he’ll snicker a tad ‘Not that I’m happy at her being upset, but it’s nice to know she is fallible and not as unflappable as she tries to appear.
’And yeah-any story we tell to children will most definitely need to either omit whatever she’s saying, or clean it up…naw, best to just make it a rowdy tavern song or a campfire tale over mugs of each persons personal preferences.’
"Preservation of the goods, perhaps. Underground it is a lot cooler than above, like my Ma used to do among the roots. We called it a root-house and kept all our long-term food stored there." Festoon offers, curious about the fingers more than the goods. "We should take this stuff to the village it was destined for. I'm sure they need it."
