Andrick pulls out 8sp, 'One ticket for me please, good sir.' Then, thinking a moment, adds another 8sp. More quietly, he says 'And a ticket for the me of eight years ago. I sneaked in at the time, and nothing has been quite right since...'
"I'm not saying we play nice, I'm just suggesting we... allow ourselves the benefit of experiencing this place through the eyes of these fresh faces,"he says and gestures towards the others. "And, if they prove to be insufferable, we can always slit their throats and hide their bodies behind the bleachers."
"Besides,"he continues, "if Rood here wants to join us, I could see if Shava (you know, the fire-eater?) could join us for a time. We'd be our own little gang of terrors."
As everyone is gathering at the ticket booth some other visitors start to get impatient, so Nikolas (the goblin at the stand - Peppermint and Billiam certainly know his name) would start to take the money of those interested in paying exchanging in return a ticket, a map of the carnival and a pair of colorful cloth butterfly wings to wear.
Andrick pulls out 8sp, 'One ticket for me please, good sir.' Then, thinking a moment, adds another 8sp. More quietly, he says 'And a ticket for the me of eight years ago. I sneaked in at the time, and nothing has been quite right since...'
He pauses, waiting for a response…
By the time that Nikolas received Andrick's payment he turned back to see everyone one more time. (I mean everyone that either had a ticket - even those created by magic or trickery of any kind - or was willing to pay for one. I'll assume that Elle would've accepted the ticket not really knowing what an actual ticket looks like or having the means or interest to uncover Yoli's deception)
Andrick was the last one and maybe seeing all of you together remind him of something or simply fit a description made by someone earlier. "I'm sorry, I've made a terrible mistake. Someone already paid for your entrance" he reaches under the ticket counter an takes an ornate wooden box with a silver clasp and the monogram N.M. which had a ticket for each one of you.
After handing over your tickets, Nikolas also gives you a map of the carnival and a pair of colorful cloth butterfly wings to wear. "these must be worn to show the staff that the you paid the entrance fee".
"I can't accept this money, I'm afraid...that" Nikolas lowers his voice so only Andrick would hear "You've already been charged for that ticket boy"
“Rood,” she pats their muscly forearm, “Is a responsible employee of the Carnival with work to do now they don’t have me to do it instead.” She grins at her boss. Then she cocks her head at the ticket booth.
”Fine, I’m in. I don’t know how to scratch this itch, maybe one of these rubes will stumble on my problem, and then I can hex it and we’ll all be happier. But I’m going to have fun.”
With this she unlaces the mask from her belt and slips it on. It fits well, she’s had it a long time. She indicates Billiam should take the lead, and follows him over to the others.

((You might like to take some time to discuss what just happened, but also feel free to read the carnival attractions and let me know whatever you'd like to visit first. Bill and Peppermint are free to participate in any game or a stand. you might have additional gossip, maybe more Billian than Peppermint.))
Though I already shared the carnival map, here it is again:
Feel free to visit whichever stand or section name interests you the most.
The first stars of night twinkle above the apricot sunset. Giant dragonflies whir overhead, trailing streamers, and a low mist curls over the ground. Through a floral archway, you glimpse wondrous and vibrant creatures—elf stilt walkers, dancing faeries, and painted performers. Everywhere there is laughter, pixie dust, bubbles, and the wistful tune of a whistling calliope.
"That's the spirit!"Billiam says and wheels around the ticket booth.
"Evening, Nik, you handsome rogue, you,"he says to the goblin. "And hello, all! My name is Billiam Barnaby O'Briar and this is my very good friend Peppermint. Don't let her mask fool you; she really is as dangerous as she looks, but with a heart of gold... I think. A carnival like this is best experienced with others. What say you? Care to wander about the place with a couple of good-natured strangers?"
“ it was a long time ago, I forget how strange the time difference is between these planes. Maybe I will get lucky and find my trinket. Many thanks to the benefactor for covering our entrance fee”
Andrick almost reels back after Nikolas's quiet words, before taking a moment to compose himself. Only then does he replay the last few moments in his head, looking round at the mixed group of people stood outside the ticket counter, also having received free tickets. His eyes narrow in thought as he takes their measure...
He nods towards Billiam. ‘I fear we are perhaps all strangers. I believe introductions are in order...?' he pauses to see at least one nod in agreement, before continuing... 'I am Andrick Alder, singer, musician and storyteller. I have some renown in the area surrounding Baldur's Gate, so if you've travelled in the area you might have heard of me, or even seen me perform...' he finally stops talking, waiting expectantly...
Hazel smiles at this halfling musician. She has never heard of him but did not want to upset him. "Nice to meet you. I am unfortunately from Mirabar, more in the North. Your fame hasn't reach us sadly." She stops and look around to this unusual group "I am Hazel, First year at the Mirabar academy. Don't you think it is strange that our tickets were already paid ? I don't think I know anyone here" She pauses and thinks "Or did someone at the Fair recognise her ? Was this to repay her for the Accident ?"
"What about you folks, what are your names? And since it seems whoever is in charge grouped us together, maybe we could enjoy the Fair together for a while ? I do have a few things to do but I can indulge myself with a bit of fun first."
Yoli approaches Nikolas with his hat in his hand and says, "Excuse me, Mr Goblin sir, but my curiosity is quite aroused by this unexpected generosity. May I inquire who it is that paid for our entry? I would like to thank them personally."
“ I am Fineon, and I am a tinker’s apprentice. My current abode is the Lurkwood, not far from Mirabar where Miss Hazel hails from.”
Fineon will show a couple small contraptions he is working on. They are fairly rough…some might say ugly, combinations of metal, stone and wood with no obvious function
“if I remember correctly, there is a whole area dedicated to the art of feasting..could be a great place to start as a filled belly makes everything else better”
Could it possibly be... him? Nuotrin thought. No, then why would he pay for all these people? "I am curious as well, I can't think of anyone who would pay for me."
Yoli approaches Nikolas with his hat in his hand and says, "Excuse me, Mr Goblin sir, but my curiosity is quite aroused by this unexpected generosity. May I inquire who it is that paid for our entry? I would like to thank them personally."
"I'm sorry but all I can say is that these where left here by an anonymous benefactor.”
((If you'd like to look for food, there are small stands selling different treats or the feasting orchard where they hold a faerie cake eating contest. This contest runs repeatedly throughout the evening and costs 1 ticket punch to enter. The contest table is piled high with small, glazed cupcakes, each filled with a dollop of berry custard. The goal is simple: eat as many cupcakes as you can within 60 seconds.
for 1 ticket punch, a customer can buy a snack served on a large flower petal or a beverage served in a fist-sized snail shell. The offerings include:
Blue-frosted cupcake
Candied apple on a stick
Euphoreo cookie (saucer-sized cookies dusted with particles of faerie dragon euphoria gas)
Eveningberry wine (a sweet, nonalcoholic drink)
Faerie bell nectar (harvested from faerie bell flowers)
Peppermint just stares at all the people through her mask. They are talking so much. She fingers the hilt of a dagger, but lets her hand fall.
She is about to just turn and walk off, when the centaur mentions food. She approaches and grabs his hand in that faerie pulling a mortal further to their doom kind of way. “Food is a grand idea, master centaur,” she says, muffled a bit by the mask. “This way! Gather the rest Billiam!”
Peppermint is heading for the feasting orchard, and pulling Fineon along by the hand (of course she’s 5’10” and not strong, so the centaur is going to be in control of this exchange).
Andrick pulls out 8sp, 'One ticket for me please, good sir.' Then, thinking a moment, adds another 8sp. More quietly, he says 'And a ticket for the me of eight years ago. I sneaked in at the time, and nothing has been quite right since...'

Peppermint turns to look at the motley group working through the ticket booth. “I don’t know, Bill. I don’t get along with natives very well.”
She might as well have said people.
