Gilded listens to Gwen about Robin helping her on the highway and says. "In the heat of the battle, I may have missed some of what happened, and I apologize if that is so."
He scratches his chin and continues.
"What I saw was Ribin and his men laying in wait for you, then the brothers showed up and it appeared they were going to wipe out Robin and his archers. It was then it appeared to me that it was you, lady knight, that stood in front of the brothers men to protect them, not the other way around. Of course l am truly biased, I think he is a scoundrel and it will be hard for me to trust him."
Gilded looks at Drez.
"You asked me what's different about Vex, Vex has stood beside me and fought with me, you, and everyone else here. He may have done wrong in the past, but I haven't seen it. He appears to be changing. Robin has done nothing honorable that I have seen since arriving here, except of course, SAY that he is doing it for others. I will choose Vex over Robin every time. Just as I would choose you."
As he goes over to sit with Jess, he finishes. "I am happy to do whatever the group would like to do, but let's do it together."
"It's true I stood to protect them.. But had they not fought with me those men would have overwhelmed me. Robin could have escaped and left me to die. I was surprised he even tried to help you guys beat the Jet brothers. Robin was laying in wait but I do not know why.."
Gwen looks to Gilded, she felt Robin risking his life in that fight was valiant but she couldn't force Gilded to see things that way. She had to accept they might not see eye to eye. Still even in the morning she wondered.. Had Vex meant what he said? About leaving? Did anyone else feel that way? At least even if her and Gilded disagreed.. He didn't seem to be ready to go anywhere.
Kocino might not know the finer details but he has heard of darker magic that uses blood and life force to give power to one's body. As for the religious connotations to this it's hard to say. Kocino would have to see more tools and runes. Sadly a "Cult performing a ritual" only hands it's way so much as a clue. However what does come to mind is Sloden's Markings. The ability to wield darker magic is known to give power faster than fighting battle after battle at the risk of corruption. Magic's like Oath Breaker and Death Cleric have long been banished in Radiance. That isn't to say that is what Simon is doing. But with the word awakening? It does imply a transformation, Kocino knows that some are possible in theory to do such a thing though not likely to pull off. It could change Simon physically as well as spiritually.
OOC Two votes for free the men.
Two for if they run across them.
And two for don't free them at all.
Making it a 3 way tie now (Since Kocino is now more on Jess's side now)
Now we need a Do we loot the manor or not vote poll lol
Jess is not opposed to looting the manor, especially if there are exotic items that may help her in her further goals. But it really depends on what ultimately happens with Simon and Gwen.
Or in other words, it's too early to decide on something like that, in Jess's mind.
If this is a conversation in the group, she will explain as much to the others.
OOC Okay so she keeps these thoughts to herself? So as far as Vex knows he's the only one for looting? (If he isn't more up for leaving Glazing wind entirely anyway) I wonder if Vex left would any go with him? Or would he be venturing to the capital alone?
Hopefully Corvus and Vex don't murder each other xD I do allow PvP my only rule is not acting on PvP with something that happens out of character has to be all for in character reasons and everyone has to be a good sport etc etc.
And just like killing NPCs has consequences so would killing a player. For example even though Gwen doesn't like the way Corvus did some things if someone wanted to kill him for whatever reason as a Knight she'd probably try to defend him and what not.
“If we don’t who knows what artefacts will be lost to time. Ancient relics, magical powers, it could all be lost forever. It’s been abandoned, and apart from a prison for people who don’t really deserve it that much it has no other use. We willl eventually have to leave this place, we can’t stay here forever. And from the looks of it, fate is driving us away. Simon’s evil power, being exiled. Where else do we go? We are in grave danger if we stay to fight Simon. There are many guards who would join against us, we’d be outnumbered and fall. We only have so much healing capabilities. Just think about it for a moment. The odds that we win are extremely low, as we don’t have that much magical power.” Vex casts druidcraft on a nearby plant, making a thorny plant. He then plucks the plant so that he can use his thorn whip cantrip. “I just have a feeling this would be useful if we did decide to fight him, don’t know why.” True, what he is suggesting is most likely morally wrong, but he knows the risks. They were too high, but if there were magical things in the manor, they could stand a chance “But if we find any artefacts of the type I said, we’d be able to stand a chance. It would feel horrible for you to do, Gwen, but it’s really our best shot. You could also find childhood memories, and be reminded of the good times in your past. Do you understand? It may not be the best option if we want to keep our morale intact, but it is a good option if we want to fight Simon. Do something that’s bad on the surface, but it’s really for the greater good.”
(OOC: in character, i dont think Gilded would be opposed to looting an enemy.)
As Gilded prepares for the morning with prayer and spells, he thinks about what he heard Vez say about looting. "I do not know that looting is the right word. I will not go through the manor taking whatever I want, but I am not sure that I would be opposed to acquiring items that may enable me to survive or thrive in my adventures. If it helps me to honor the God of victory, and it is from an enemy, I would not see that as looting."
“Oh! Don’t get me wrong. I have no problem taking things from the people fighting us.” Kocino turns to Vex looking concerned. “It’s the family home of our friend. Who happens to be standing here with us. If she has things she wants to give us, so be it, but it belongs to her family. She can decide what she wants to do with it.”
He looks to the rest of the group. “Can we agree to worry about things later? There are lives and a town at stake. If we stand here debating all day, Simon may grow in power and kill us for certain.”
”The only family of Gwen’s I’ve heard of so far is Simon. Not sure about Robin, but should we really not take things from Simon? He is probably as bad as I once was, and even then it was other criminals I was killing and not as much as there is people in this town. Simon, however? He’s putting innocent lives at stake. And if there is those types of artefacts, we would need to find them before he does. But yes, we don’t plunder everything in the manor, just everything that could give us a chance against Simon. I can’t really recall Gwen mentioning any other family members, and she would get the stuff she wants from it. The other stuff is that of Simon, and we all don’t like Simon here.” Since the debate had started, Vex was speaking in the voice of a plague doctor. ”But yes, we should all get going soon.”
Corvus counts the gold he has collected, then calculates how much to give to each companion. Seeing that it can be divided evenly he nods to himself. He doesn’t tell anyone else how much he found, he just starts handing it out. He gives 20 to everyone accept Gilded, Sloden and Vex. He gives both Gilded and Sliden 21gp. Vex had irritated him however, so he only gives him 18.
After doing this, Corvus patiently waits for the others to work out what they want to do. It sounds like they are mostly for freeing the men. Good. When looting is mentioned, he nods. If they come across anything interesting and useful, he would take it.
After the break Corvus tries to respond the the calling his patron had sounded within him. He soon realized that this was not a call for him, but a call for another. Suddenly, from the shadows of the forest. A black pseudodragon flys towards him, landing on a stump in front of him. Corvus frowns at it. And it frowns back. “So, the master decided to give his hound a dog of his own ey?” He puts his metallic hand towards the creature, and it climes up to sit on his shoulder.
As Gwen looks at Drezmir with wide eyes, he starts to feel something he’d never felt before…a strange warm and fuzzy sensation rising within his chest. It was odd, but it made him smile. Seeing Gwen’s own grin, he smiles wider before realizing what he was doing and quickly diverts his gaze for a second to recompose himself… Then he responds saying,
”I am glad, and of course you can write us! Even if we are on the other side of the realm, it won’t be to far if you ever need help…Perhaps we can find a sending stone, that would be the easiest mode of communication since I expect we’ll be moving around quite a bit. But, that’s getting a little ahead of ourselves isn’t it? We aren’t gone yet. We still have business to finish.”
He turns his attention to Gilded, “I understand, but I still believe we should free them if we can.”
He looks to Vex, “If you wish to leave Glanzing Winds, you will do so without me. I have no doubt that we can defeat Simon, and I would rather you fight alongside us, but it is your choice. Go where your destiny leads you.”
He crosses his arms,“As for looting…I hate looting, but this is another matter. This is Gwen’s home as much as it is Simon’s, we cannot take anything she does not wish us to have.”
He nods to Kocino, “Yes, now isn’t the time to worry about magical artifacts. We should get moving.”
He looks to Gwen, “You’ll at least stay long enough to show us where this secret passage is right?” He takes notice of the apparent guilt in her eyes, and his expression softens, “Don’t worry about us. We’ll be fine.”
He smiles, that strange fuzzy feeling fading into the crackle of lightning as he readies himself for the battle to come.
(Wow, I hope I didn’t miss anything lol. So much dialogue!)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Gwen looked at Vex and thought for a moment as he explained. She was lost but.. Was he saying they'd only stand a chance with better weaponary.
"So you're asking to borrow something for the battle? The way you phrased it before.."
The way he phrased it before "looting" hadn't sounded as reasonable as what he just said. What was in the manor? What could really help them? Money and plenty of family heirlooms that were worth money nothing good in a straight fight.
"Wait... There is the Dawn Blade family sword... But it was meant for those who were worthy. Simon couldn't draw it as a child nor accept his power. I.. Well I never tried. I failed my studies to gain the Dawn Blade magic so how would I be worthy of such a blade? Could anyone else without Dawn Blade family blood draw it? The room is heavily guarded and dangerous and it could be a lot of risk for nothing really.."
After saying this she wondered if this wouldn't be enough to convince Vex to aid.
"I mean the Manor has two lab's... So you could find some potions perhaps those aren't really sentimental to me nor is it money that could be used to feed the town. The primary lab usually.. Has Simon in it however."
She sighed, he could either be in his office but he loved to study and work on concoctions. Would Vex leave? Knowing this? Deep down Gwen was a little worried Vex might be conning her as he was a past criminal but.. Part of her wanted to trust him too. Gwen looks to Gilded as he explains.
"I suppose Simon has lost the right to whatever he himself owns so that is fair. I can pay you all some gold too I'll have to ask around town to make a bounty worth the aid.. I guess I got so caught up I never realized you guys probably don't wanna do this for free.
As Sloden is doing a history check he won't understood the Arcana or magical aspect behind it. However he know's of rituals used in history to create great champions. In the past Divine Beast would have great warriors fight many beast and slay them. Bringing the blood and parts of the foul beast the gods would bless these warriors to greater heights. This once created a Solar Angel that defends Alba alongside it's god of fire. Though humanity with it's blessed warriors grew to greedy and the gods stopped giving such blessings. So the legend goes anyway. This is tied to the legend of why Dawn the golden Dragon no longer exist in the physical realm unlike the other Divine Beast. His light still protects and guides the country but he himself is gone. One such lesson was the blessed warriors turned on him for even greater power. Could someone have subverted such a tale? Such magic? Without a deity how was it possible? Perhaps a more demonic version was at play here? Sloden knew how far Germuid was willing to gain power. He was living proof of that power. Gwen couldn't see how much money Corvus found but unless Gilded or Vex conceal how much they have in their hands. Gwen finds it odd Vex had less.. Sure she disagreed with Vex on many things but Vex still had saved Corvus before. Would he repay that debt? Gwen wasn't sure how to feel, the chivalrous code dictates that Corvus owed Vex a debt. Yet personally Corvus had never suggested leaving Glazing Wind. Gwen didn't trust Corvus by any means knowing how he could sleight another so easily. However because he'd fight for her home.. She wouldn't leave him high and dry again. Corvus had nodded to the looting.
"So were not really.. "Looting" the manor though right?"
Gwen asked wondering what that would entail. With Corvus? Money seemed to be something he enjoyed. His nodding to the looting? Gwen would keep an eye on him without a doubt. Corvus can hear a chuckle within the confounds of his mind and a voice.
"Don't say I never gave you anything, also word of advice. I sense a great air of suspicion coming from that lady knight over there. I'd be careful around her, don't need our journey getting cut short. So what her manor might be missing a few things right? Only fair if we are risking our necks out here riiiiight?"
Gwen looks back over to Drezmir as he smiled back she gave a strange and rather awkward wave. As he looked away so did she stroking her hair behind her ear while pretending to be occupied with.. Watching nature? She wasn't sure what to say or do in a time like this. She'd hope she hadn't weirded Drezmir out with any improper behavior.A sending stone? That'd be great! She'd have to buy some.. Maybe at the capital?
"Huh? Oh yeah you're right! Can't get too ahead of ourselves huh? Wait guys.. Where is Gildaug?"
The half elf seems to be gone and so was his things but left in his stead? Seemed to be a letter. Before Gwen could react to this Drezmir had told Vex to follow his own destiny. Gwen had walked beside Drezmir with a nod.
"Of course, I would never force anyone to fight for us. You do what is right for you Vex and if you feel you're destiny is at Radiant City than I understand."
Drezmir had once again stood up for Gwen. If the young knight could melt? She most certainly would. No one looked out for her like this.. Not since Simon was a younger boy.
"Thank you Drezmir, I'll gather money to pay you all. Simon's lab is fair as well, and if anyone can wield the Dawn Blade? Than they are... Free to take it. If me or Simon can't use it what good is that for us? I'm sure my ancestors would understand. I only ask anything of value.. Heirlooms or money in the manor be left alone so we can help the people. As well as preserve the history of Glazing Wind and the Dawn Blades. Anything Simon has I too understand"
Gwen had left the letter alone she felt perhaps it was better his allies had read it instead. Kocino had also stood beside Drezmir in this. Gwen smiled even bigger.
"T-Thank you Kocino truly!" She was happy Kocino had considered her a friend. She couldn't help it, Kocino's warm gesture was the last straw for her to break her composure. She had taken the two and pulled them close with the heavy clanking of her plate mail she squished the both of them tight into a hug. Perhaps a hug unbefitting of a knight but in that moment? She hadn't cared. It was than Kocino said it was time to stop debating.
"You are right! We can only debate for so long before it hurts us. Are we ready to head back? I can lead you to the secret entrance. Than I'll grab my men and head to the gate to demand a talk with Simon. If that fails and it turns to a brawl it's okay either way it's a distraction as Drezmir stated."
She nods to Drezmir as he ask about the entrance. He.. Noticed her guilt huh?
"Just.. All of you better make it back alive. I wish I could fight alongside you.. But my men won't be able to create much distraction at the front. We may not have enough firepower to break in the front but if it does turn to a brawl we'll distract the bulk of them for sure!"
Gwen gave Drezmir a pat on the back. She was ready to be the knight of Glazing Wind. Her soft expression turning into determination. Today was all or nothing and she'd give everything on today's battlefield. Vex said one last time the stuff in the manor was the best bet.. In the end? Gwen just had to trust Gilded,Kocino,Drez to not let them take too many things. Not that Sloden seemed unruly. Jess never really talked to Gwen no matter how much Gwen tried to talk to Jess of late she seemed withdrawn which after seeing Vex's change of attitude worried her a bit. But at the very least she knew those three would do whatever it took to do the right thing. It was than she began to head around the town it'd take miles down the mountain path. It took a few hours but they circled around the town into the lost forest. They were shallow in the forest but further in? Were whispers and other strange voices but Gwen had ignored that. Pointing to a hollow tree she tried to push at it. It seemed whatever she was pushing on wasn't opening? To anyone not in the know she looked like a crazy person pushing on a tree.
14 STR Check for her
OOC: It seems the vote for freeing is currently
2 Against/Gilded and Vex
2 For/Corvus and Drez
And 2 if they are on the way. Kocino/Jess
As Gildaug is gone that makes Sloden the deciding vote ^^
OOC
Everyone please add you're respective gold ^^

He turns to Vex. “However, we are not looting Gwen’s childhood home. We are doing this to help, not to fill our pockets her family belongings.”

She'd hope she hadn't weirded Drezmir out with any improper behavior. A sending stone?
"T-Thank you Kocino truly!"
She was happy Kocino had considered her a friend.
