The goblin among the trees attempts to twist away from Cinis's streaking mote of fire, but it catches it on its side, bending it over in pain.
The intensity of battle seems to have awakened Tarok, who appears as if he was never in any pain to begin with. He swings his greatsword viciously, as if to decapitate the small creature, but it ducks the blow.
Turn 2, Still To Act: Bob, Argos, Nemean (in any order) Goblins
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Nemean staggers a bit, and lets out a startled grunt as the arrow flies into his shoulder. He pauses for a moment, pulls the arrow out and winces from the pain. He tosses the arrow aside and takes a deep breath as he stands up straight again and regains his composure.
Second Wind: 5
He then locks eyes with the remaining Goblin and leaps from the wagon and charges towards his foe with scimitars drawn, rapidly closing distance with his feline agility.
OOC: I was hoping to attack the remaining goblin this same turn, but I can still only move 60ft with feline agility and he's still 70ft away, would a good acrobatics check help me close that distance? In retrospect I probably should have stuck with the bow for this round, but oh well.

OOC: As far as I know there aren't any bracket highlights for class features, unfortunately. That would be handy.
Eyes locked on the remaining goblin, Nemean charges forward with incredible speed. Argos's arrow soars over his head, and the goblin turns as if to flee, but isn't able to move a single step before the arrow plants him dead on the ground.
Just like that, the impromptu battlefield descends to a peaceful quiet. Four goblin corpses lay on the ground around you. The horses still block the path, and the oxen remain tame and calm behind the wagon.
OOC: Great first battle! This links to what was happening before the battle for a quick refresher if you need it. The first part of this campaign handles XP on a milestone basis, so don't be alarmed by the lack of experience yet.
Well then, I did great, I was never seen! I like these new friends, cause now we have shed blood, we are friends, I will watch their back with my life, and hope they do the same.
Bob scans the area for any more signs, then stands up and heads back to the rest."Well done! I think..but I wonder if there are more around, they seemed well ready for us, but we was faster! And this makes Bob happy!' Bob smiles like a little kid in a candy shop as he looks people over for any lasting wounds.
I can not wait to see what else is to come, to test myself, and my new friends.

Tarok looks at his leg and notices the wound isn't bleeding badly. "All good here, good shooting gentlemen." he replies. "Think these Goblins have anything useful on them? Some of those scimitars or arrows might be worth taking. I doubt the Goblin armour comes in our size." he asks of the group at large.
"We should look for tracks to see if the riders were carried off. The goblins probably came from a cave nearby or some other shelter." he adds, looking toward the others. Tarok himself takes a look around to try and find evidence that will show where the Goblins came from.

Argos hops down from the wagon, stowing his weapons. He then responds the Cinis: "Yep, I'm fine."
Argos then turns and states to the entire group: "Whoever these horses belong to, they have probably been captured by these goblins. We need to help them before it's too late."
Argos retrieves one of his arrows, the other one he couldn't find. He then walks up to the horses and inspects them, curious for how long they've been there. After that, he joins Tarok in the search for goblin tracks, and searches the nearby brush for an evidence of where they came from.
OOC: If this area is considered to be a grassland terrain, I also get benefits from my Natural Explorer feature, you may want to take a look at the Class Feature on my sheet.
OOC: Is there an in-universe reason for me being able to impersonate Wolverine once per short rest? Just so I can write it a bit better.
OOC: Think of it more as you pushing yourself past your normal limit, instead of your wounds just magically healing. You still technically have wounds, but you exert your will as a warrior to push past them (think mind over matter). If you read the Class Feature it explains: "You have a limited well of stamina that you can draw on to protect yourself from harm."
"Nemean, Tarok, Argos, how about you guys take it easy for a bit. Rest up while Bob and I go look for any trail the goblins may have left behind." Cinis said, making his way over to where one of the goblins groups were hiding and looking around at the ground.
If they insist on rushing off before they're fresh, I'll knock them down myself. The eagerness of youth gives me a headache.

Nemean sees the arrrow Argos fired whiz over his him and strike his target just moments before before he can make contact. “Nice shot Argos!” He shouts as he passes the goblin and slows to a trot. ”But next time I won’t be so slow.”
He collects his longbow and will also take one of the short bows from the fallen goblins. Nemean then solemnly makes his way over to th horses to take a closer look. Hoping to determine if they belong to his friend Sildar.
Nemean then bristles upon hearing Cinis’s suggestion that he stays behind to rest up. “Look normally I’m not one to turn down a nice mid-day nap, but we need to stick together. These Goblins aren’t much in a fair fight, but it could get ugly if we’re outnumbered. Besides, I’m Nemean Goldenmane, pride of the southern clans! It takes more than this pinprick to keep me down”
The boastfulness leaves his voice as he spoke in a more quiet and serious tone. “And if they have Sildar and Grunden then they’re going to need our help, all of us.” His face showed his concern for their friends.

OOC: The area along the High Road and the Triboar Trail is grassland. You have those Natural Explorer benefits at the moment.
The goblin weapons are not the highest quality, but they'll do in a pinch. Their crooked arrows and ratty armor are useless to you, however.
For Argos and Nemean:
Now that you're closer, you're certain that the horses belong to Gundren Rockseeker and Sildar Hallwinter. They've been dead about a day, and it's clear that the arrows killed the horses. The saddlebags have been looted, and an empty leather map case lies nearby.
Inspection of the area reveals that the creatures have been using this place to stage ambushes for some time. A trail hidden behind thickets on the north side of the road leads northwest.
"Alright. Looks like the goblins regularly ambush travelers at this spot. We didn't get all of them, either. What do you think? Head to town for some supplies and report the sighting, or go look for where they're holed up? Personally, I think we should at least settle down for a half hour and take a Short Rest before getting into any more fights." Cinis said, looking at the group. "When it comes to life and death, I prefer to err on the side of caution."
I know I saw Tarok take a solid hit. If he doesn't at least take a breather and we get into a fight, he could be in trouble. Hopefully, these kids can listen to reason.
Cinis walks back to where the wagon and oxen are, leaning up against the side. "Besides," He says, "We still have the wagon of goods that needs to be delivered. Will we take it with us to hunt goblins?"
Bob looks over to Cinis and nods, Seems the leader is making self known, could be worse.
''I think we should try and find some brush or a place to hide the wagon, I am sure the beast of burden will be fine strapped to the cart for now, these dead horses here are our friends that left ahead of us, we need to see that they are not dead or worse."
Bob looks around for trail of signs of where they took Gundren and the other.
A dozen goblins have come and gone along the trail. You also find signs of two human-sized bodies being hauled away from the ambush site toward the trail.
"I don't want to tarry here while our friends our subjected to the hospitality of a Goblin cave. Rest a little if we must, but I think we should take the oxen and tie them and the wagon to a large tree. Perhaps I could use the rope from my pack to make them. Those horses might need a burial before they attract wild animals too."
Tarok goes over and ties the oxen to the largest tree he can find, with a decent tether so they can graze on the grass nearby, unless there are any objections, then returns to the others.
"A Goblin caught me in the leg, but it'll be fine, it barely grazed me. The wound will probably close over by the time we've finished lunch, it's nothing to fret over. I think we should follow these tracks and rescue our friends. We could stop for a quick bite to eat, but I don't think more than that will be warranted."
"Excellent. Lunch is great. Let's get something to eat and rest for half an hour, then we'll follow the goblin trail and see if we can determine where our employers were taken." Cinis said, glad to hear some sense from someone.
As awful as it sounds, I hope we find nothing. The alternative is... much worse.

Nemean nods in agreement as he listens to Cinis and Tarok discussing the plan. "I do worry that the longer we wait the worse our chances are of finding our Sildar and Gundren, I'm certain that those were the horses they rode off on. I don't think we can risk taking the time to go all the way back into town, it looks like the horses were killed about a day ago.... but I suppose a short rest does sound sensible, and its not a great idea to start a rescue mission on an empty stomach."
OOC: I'm ok with using the in game posts for OOC instead of a dedicated thread, as long as we don't mind the extra blocks of text. I think my one post had almost as much OOC text as it did in game text (and it looks like this is one of those too), and I could understand if some found that to be distracting as it can take away from the "theater of the mind" element of things. But as long as nobody else has a problem with it I'm fine with keeping it in the game thread as we have been.
Also just wanted to say I'm really enjoying the campaign so far, and I think we have a really good group here. I'm looking forward to playing through more of it with you guys.
