“What, huh..”Thatch is shaken from his tranquil daydream by Cainneach’s question “No, the door seems fine. It is just so calm here, especially after the rushing water.” Thatch gently pushes the door open and looks into the next room. Perception: 18.
You enter a low-ceilinged chamber hung with sombre drapes. A flickering sanctuary lamp burns on an altar stone in an alcove in the east wall. A large wooden carving of a stylised fish ( similar to the one around Father Bretwalds neck) hangs above this. There are double doors in the west wall and another small door, like the one you have entered by, directly opposite you. In alcoves around the room are hundreds of small carvings, symbols and engravings though many are unfamiliar the companions do note Lugh, Tor, Wotan and a number of others of the Old Gods still worshipped by many throughout Ellesland and beyond.
Bretwald smiles slightly and moves to kneel before the altar and pray quietly.

“What is this place, Father?” Thatch asks as the priest moves to the altar. Thatch follows and looks around the room, making note of the various alcoves and trying to determine if he recognizes any of the other carvings, or any offerings that may have been left in the alcoves. He checks both of the other doors for any markings or traps to help determine their next move.

Near as he can determine the doors are unadorned and unremarkable and free of traps or tricks. Thatch recognises one of the icons as being Lugh and another is likely Tor others he has seen in passing but cannot recall names or descriptions, otherwise the room seems a small chapel carved out of the stone, much like a wayside shrine built into a hill or perhaps one of the chapels built within the tin mines to the south west.
Bretwald finishes his prayer and rises painfully from his knees, " A shrine placed here for those undertaking Vallandars tests to take respite and give thanks." His eyes go to the many pagan idols within the alcoves with a slight frown but it soon fades in the peaceful atmosphere.
Cainneach quietly states, mostly to Dru, "Remarkable that Vallandar would be so welcoming of all of the faiths represented here, particularly as a regent of Ellesland." While Cainneach is not terribly religious, he does identify a symbol of Morkaan, one of the primeval forest deities that was revered by his clan prior to their decimation, and sits cross-legged both to take a moment's rest and to offer a silent tribute.
Hotspur smirks when the rangers alternately offer and then deny him the enchanted blade. He shrugs. "If anyone finds a magic corkscrew though, I call dibs."
The smirk disappears though as he enters the peaceful room. Small tears form in the corners of his eyes. This is the first time he can remember that his inner demons have been silenced through any means other than imbibing copious amounts of alcohol.
Cainneach slowly rises to his feet, feeling as though Morkaan has heard his prayers, even if he can't quite describe why. "I think we should try the northern door. Since it is smaller, perhaps the room beyond is something small as well, that we could explore quickly before moving on through this grander passage to the west."

“Sound reasons”Thatch nods to Cainneach “It matters not to me, both doors seem safe at first glance.” Thatch moves forward with a small look to Sir Valor and opens the small door to the north, peering inside the opening to see what lies on the other side.Perception: 10.

A narrow passage leads north for a short distance and then turns to the east. A very faint red glow is visible around the corner.
Cainneach will carefully enter the corridor and thoroughly examine the floor and walls for traps. He will also try to identify the source of the red glow from as great a distance as possible.

Cainneach makes his way carefully to the corner and looks around it.
Looking along it, you see that the first ten metres or so are not illuminated, but from that point onwards bright red lamps hang from the ceiling. The passage extends as far east as you can see.
Something about the light doesn't seem quite right, but he can't put his finger on why.
“A red glow? I hope it is not another dragon.” Thatch moves down the hallway cautiously behind Cainneach, looking for the source of the light or for any threats.

Cainneach will also check out the room, hoping to catch anything that the usually observant Thatch might have overlooked.

Bretwald smiled at the others, " Which way onward do you think?"
Cainneach:
You feel your aches and pains ease and a feeling of contentment fill you. ( Under the effects of Bless for the next 30 mins)
Dru, not much of one for spirituality, agrees with Bretwald for once. "Which door should we go through? The sooner we're out of this tomb, the better."
