When the party is waiting for Ichabod and they decide to name the donkey Lenn only adds
"You should not get attached to this poor creature. I wish no harm to it, but I fear that we will be soon pulling our own cart. This lands are not safe for old animals." He tries not to get too close to it for he uses to unsettle domestic animals.
When Cole rectifies them he assumes his position in the back and when the two strangers appears he just asks
"Wounded how and by how?"
As he moves to the front of the party one hand already at his greatsword.
Lucian hangs back, a little unsure of the situation. It seemed that most of his companions were wary of these two strangers...but he isn't really sure why. If they meant them harm, then why didn't they ambush them instead of announcing their presence? ...perhaps there was the possibility that this wounded friend could be a whole group of not-wounded friends waiting for these two to lead them into their trap, but Lucian is skeptical of that. Still, he trusts his comrade's judgment over his own, so he stays quiet and watches.
When Chara sees the two men, she is immediately conflicted. On one hand, if they really do have a wounded companion some ways out in the woods, she wants to help. On the other... these are clearly warriors, and their story could easily be an attempt to lure the party off the path and into the cover of the trees. She's really not in the mood to get ambushed and murdered (or worse) by a band of robbers.
(Is Ichabod back yet? If he is, I think Chara will go ahead and send him out to make sure that there isn't a mob of cutthroats waiting to tear the party to pieces as soon as we're out of view of the road).
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
In your opinion, these two might as well be holding signs stating that they are lying jerks who lie in order to lead people who believe their lies to their doom.
Eithne:
Looking over where the two men emerged, you see no reason to assume that there are more members of their party. As they do seem to be behaving suspiciously, you attempt to merge into the forest.
Chara:
Ichabod, invisible on your shoulder, says, "Yes, madam." He alights and returns shortly thereafter. He whispers in her ear, "Either their friend is quite far away indeed, or they are lying, madam. I suspect the latter."
Cole:
(FYI, you use Insight to determine if someone is lying. But it doesn't matter in this case because you have the same bonus in both Insight and Perception.) In your opinion, they are definitely liars and are just generally deeply untrustworthy. You also don't notice any useful berries.
When Lennasks how their friend was wounded, they say, "Come and see" and walk back into the woods from which they came.
- But my friends - the bard says as the two men begin to walk away - We are surely going to help your friend better here in the open instead of in the middle of the woods. Why don't you just bring him to us? - he knows he's wasting his breath, but keeps the charade anyway.
(OOC: I'm understanding the two guys are going to just go into the woods again no matter what we say. That's why I'll whisper the following. If they are still here, and thus able to hear the whisper, then the whisper will not happen).
As they seem to just have disappeared into the woods again Bran whispers to the party:
- These guys are bad news. Do we just wait for an attack here? Following them doesn't look like a good idea. And we can't really run away, can we? The cart will slow us down...
Either way, he pats Lenn on the shoulder and steps back in the direction opposite to where the guys have disappeared to give the paladin the space he's probably going to need to wield his greatsword.
Lenn/DM:
If we are attacked, or decide to follow them into the woods:
Bardic Inspiration on Lenn.
Could I also ready a spell (Hold action) and release it on the first guy I see attacking us? If I can, then Bran will ready Vicious mockery. If I cannot, then Bran will just give Lenn the BI and move back to try not be in the front line.
If we just continue on our journey:
Nothing of the above. Just walk away, staying in the middle of the group, while trying to stay alert just in case.
Seeing the two 'guys in distress' intending to proceed towards the woods - but her companions not at all intending to follow them, Eithne simply remains hidden, waiting... ready to intervene in case of need.
Obviously, if the party instead decides to continue the journey, she will resume her position at the head of the group.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"No we are not" simply says Lenn to the two. He doesn't trust them. He doesn't trust anybody, except his actual companions. "If your friend is injured bring him forward and we'll see if we can do anything for him. If not. "he makes a pause, staring at the two men at their eyes "Just step aside and let us be on our way..."he lets the third option in the air, his hand still at the pommel of his greatsword. As they look into his eyes, they change color, turning red and Lenn growls a little bit.
( Use Thaumaturgy for that eye color change hoping to be more intimidating. I'll roll just in case:
16
And I'll use the bardic inspiration to boos it: 2 )
Lucian watches the exchange, still a little confused at what is going on. Though, he was starting to pick up on why his friends are suspicious... but that means that these guys probably have a lot of friends hiding somewhere, otherwise why would they be foolish enough to try and lure their entire group to go see just one person?
He whispers to Chara, "Um... I'm not sure I know what is going on, but if these two have more than one friend they want us to go see... we could be outnumbered." He glances at Nikolai, Lenn, and Brann, who were still talking to the potential bandit before adding, "We...should probably get away from here as quickly as possible if we decide not to help."
As they hear the party's skepticism, the two men stop walking into the forest. They look at each other. One shrugs and the other says, "It was worth a shot." Then they both take their greataxes, monstrous constructions with blades of sharpened stone, turn to face the party and scream in unison and in rage.
Please roll for initiative. Map coming this evening.
Lucian visibly jumps when the two start screaming, and takes a step backwards. Great...he's never actually fought someone who had anything larger than a knife before. Still, these two must be crazy if they think they can take on a party of six.
